Abstract

This study was motivated by the low social skills of students in the Social Science (IPAS) subject in Grade III at UPT SDN 010 Siabu. One of the solutions to overcome this problem was the application of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model. The purpose of this study was to determine the planning, implementation, and improvement of students’ social skills through the application of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model in Grade III students of UPT SDN 010 Siabu in the 2024/2025 academic year, consisting of 21 students. This research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consisted of two meetings, which included the stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data were collected through observation and documentation using observation sheets of teacher and student activities as well as social skills observation sheets. The data were analyzed using quantitative and qualitative techniques. The results showed that students’ social skills in the IPAS subject improved after the implementation of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model. In the first cycle, students’ social skills were in the “fair” category with an average score of 77, where 13 students achieved mastery with a classical completeness of 62%. In the second cycle, students’ social skills increased to the “good” category with an average score of 84, where 18 students achieved mastery with a classical completeness of 86%. Therefore, it can be concluded that the implementation of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model can improve students’ social skills in the IPAS subject for Grade III at UPT SDN 010 Siabu.

Students are struggling with clear pronunciation and appropriate vocabulary when describing objects due to limited use of learning media and reliance on textbooks, resulting in low English speaking skills at SMAN 2 Bangkinang Kota. The objective of the study is to find out the effect of personal description board game towards students’ speaking skill at tenth grade of SMAN 2 Bangkinang Kota. The researcher use a quasi-experimental design with a quantitative approach which uses the SPSS program to process data. The researcher chose two classes as the sample. The X-10 class, as the experimental class consists of 33 students and the X-9 class, as the control class, consists of 32 students. The instrument of this research is speaking test. In collecting data, the researcher used pre-test, treatment, and post-test. Technique of data analysis used normality test, homogeneity test and T-test. The result showed t-table score obtained = 1.66 and significant score was 0.000. Because the score of t calculation 4.711 > t-table 1.66 and significant score of 0.000 < α = 0.05, then Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted. This means that the post-test score of experimental class compared to that in the control class was different. In conclusion, Personal Description board game had effect on students speaking skill at tenth grade of SMAN 2 Bangkinang Kota

Abstract

This research was conducted based on the observation that many students experience difficulties in comprehending recount texts. A quasi-experimental design was employed involving an experimental group taught using the Jigsaw strategy with picture media and a control group taught using conventional methods. The population consisted of tenth-grade students of Darul Fattah Islamic Boarding School, with 40 students selected as the sample. A multiple-choice reading comprehension test was administered as pre-test and post-test, and the data were analyzed using an independent samples t-test. The findings revealed that the experimental group showed significantly better improvement than the control group. The results indicate that the Jigsaw strategy with picture media effectively enhances students’ reading comprehension of recount texts and can be considered an alternative approach in teaching reading.

Abstract

This study aims to improve students’ conceptual understanding in the Integrated Science and Social Studies (IPAS) subject through the application of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model in Grade IV of UPT SDN 019 Muara Uwai. This research is a Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted in two cycles, with each cycle consisting of the stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were 15 students, consisting of 10 boys and 5 girls. Data collection techniques included observation, tests, and documentation, with instruments such as teacher and student activity observation sheets and conceptual understanding tests. The results showed that the application of the CTL model could improve students’ conceptual understanding. This was evident from the improvement in students’ learning outcomes in each cycle. Before the action (pre-cycle), the average score of students’ conceptual understanding was only 70, with a learning mastery of 40%. After implementing the CTL model in Cycle I, learning mastery increased to 73.3%, and in Cycle II, it rose again to 93.3%. Teacher and student activities also improved significantly, as indicated by the increasing student engagement in more meaningful and contextual learning activities. Therefore, the implementation of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model proved effective in enhancing students’ conceptual understanding in the IPAS subject for Grade IV at UPT SDN 019 Muara Uwai. This model can serve as an alternative, creative, and innovative teaching strategy for teachers to create learning experiences that are more active, meaningful, and student-centered.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the effect of the Round Robin strategy on students’ reading comprehension at Class X of Darul Fatah Islamic Boarding School. Reading comprehension is a fundamental skill in English learning, as it enables students to understand written texts, identify important information, and construct meaning from various sources. This research employed a quasi-experimental design involving two groups: an experimental class and a control class. The experimental class was taught using the Round Robin strategy as a cooperative learning model, while the control class was taught using a conventional reading aloud strategy. The participants consisted of 59 tenth-grade students selected through cluster sampling. Data were collected through pre-tests and post-tests in the form of multiple-choice questions covering five indicators of reading comprehension: identifying main ideas, identifying specific information, understanding word meaning, identifying references, and making inferences. The results of the study showed that the Round Robin strategy had a significant positive effect on students’ reading comprehension. The mean post-test score of the experimental class (80.44) was higher than that of the control class (74.52). Furthermore, the independent sample t-test revealed a significance value of 0.017, which is lower than the significance level of 0.05, indicating a statistically significant difference between the two groups. These findings suggest that the Round Robin strategy effectively enhances students’ reading comprehension by promoting active participation, cooperative learning, and critical thinking during the learning process

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low learning activity of fifth-grade students at UPT SDN 020 Ridan Permai in the IPAS subject. The purpose of this research is to describe the improvement of student learning activity through the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model. The research method used is classroom action research (CAR) conducted in two cycles, with each cycle consisting of four stages: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects of this research are 18 fifth-grade students at UPT SDN 020 Ridan Permai. The research instruments used include teacher activity observation sheets, student activity observation sheets, student activity sheets (LKPD), and documentation. These instruments are designed to assess activity indicators, including: actively participating in completing tasks, engaging in problem-solving, asking questions to teachers or peers, seeking relevant information, and discussing in groups. The results of the research show an increase in student learning activity from pre-action to cycle I by 4.8%, and an increase from cycle I to cycle II by 6.47%. Thus, overall, the increase in student learning activity reaches 11.27%. The application of the Problem Based Learning model has been proven to enhance the learning activity of elementary school students. Therefore, the application of this model needs to be consistently continued, and teachers require ongoing support to be able to implement the steps of PBL correctly according to the learning objectives.
