Abstract

This study aims to empirically examine and determine the effect of toxic masculinity on depression in university students. The population of this research consisted of 57 male students from the 2020 batch of the Faculty of Psychology, Medan Area University, with a sample of 47 individuals selected using a purposive sampling technique. Simple linear regression was employed as the data analysis method. The analysis results indicate a significant influence of toxic masculinity on depression in students, with a Coefficient of Determination (R2) of 0.261 and a significance value of p = 0.001 0.050. This confirms the hypothesis that higher toxic masculinity leads to higher depression, and conversely, lower toxic masculinity leads to lower depression experienced by students. Toxic masculinity contributes 26.1% to the depression felt by students. Furthermore, the study reveals that both toxic masculinity and depression among students are categorized as high, as evidenced by the empirical mean value of toxic masculinity (16.19) being greater than the hypothetical mean (9.5), and the empirical mean value of depression (39.68) being greater than the hypothetical mean (28.5).

Abstract

Female workers at BNN Aceh face significant challenges in balancing work with household responsibilities, as well as dealing with high work pressure and male dominance in leadership positions. This research aims to analyze the influence of quality of work life on work engagement among women at BNN Aceh, with job satisfaction as a mediating variable. The research uses a quantitative method with a positivist approach, collecting data through research instruments and analyzing it statistically to test the hypothesis. Data analysis is performed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with SmartPLS 3.0 to examine the influence of independent, mediating, and dependent variables. The results show that quality of work life (QWL) does not directly affect work engagement. However, QWL significantly influences job satisfaction. Additionally, job satisfaction affects work engagement and acts as a mediating variable in the relationship between QWL and work engagement. These findings suggest that improving job satisfaction can be an effective way to enhance work engagement among female career workers at BNN Aceh.

Abstract

Independence as an element in the Pancasila student profile must be developed and possessed by every student to improve learning achievement. Learning independence is of course influenced by many factors. This research aims to analyze and determine the influence of learning motivation and self-efficacy on student learning independence. This research is a type of causal associative quantitative research. The research sample was 110 students in class VII and VIII of SMP Negeri 3 Pancur Batu. Research data was collected using a research scale that was declared valid and reliable. The data analysis technique uses multiple linear regression analysis. The research results show that: (1) there is a positive and significant influence of learning motivation on student learning independence, with a probability value of 0.000 <0.05; (2) there is a positive and significant influence of self-efficacy on student learning independence with a probability value of 0.000 <0.05; (3) there is a significant influence between learning motivation and self-efficacy on the learning independence of students at SMP Negeri 3 Pancur Batu. The assumption is that the higher the learning motivation and self-efficacy, the higher the student's learning independence, and the lower the learning motivation and the lower the self-efficacy, the lower the student's learning independence. The results of the coefficient of determination test show that the contribution or influence of learning motivation and self-efficacy simultaneously on student learning independence is 58.1%, while the remaining 41.9% can be explained by other variables outside the model or outside the variables proposed in the research.

Abstract

Although there is recognition of the level of job stress, the link with turnover intention is clearly evident. Therefore, the following research questions are posed: Does job stress have a direct effect on turnover intention? Furthermore, to what extent does job stress have an indirect effect on turnover intention through perceived organizational support? While job stress is acknowledged as a significant factor, it does not fully capture the concept of perceived organizational support, which is crucial for individual decision-making and well-being. Persistent turnover intention is not solely caused by job stress; perceived organizational support plays an important role in long-term career success. However, a review of the existing literature reveals a lack of studies specifically addressing the mediating role of perceived organizational support in the relationship between job stress and turnover intention. This research gap calls for further exploration. This study uses a non-experimental quantitative approach with a case study design. The goal is to observe a specific sample group rather than to generalize the research findings. The sample was selected through a process based on the level of turnover intention at the research location. Data were collected using three scales and analyzed through mediation analysis. The findings of this study indicate that the initial hypothesis, which states that job stress has a direct effect on employee turnover intention, is supported. In addition, the second hypothesis is also accepted, indicating that job stress has an indirect effect on turnover intention through perceived organizational support. Conclusions and further recommendations will be elaborated in the subsequent discussion.
