Abstract

This study aims to reveal and compare the level of human capital in Indonesia, Singapore and Timor Leste using the Human Capital Index (HCI) developed by the World Bank Group. The method used is a literature study with a qualitative approach, analyzing various secondary data sources, including official World Bank reports. This research focuses on the main components of the HCI, namely the quality of education, healthy life expectancy, and future productivity potential. The analysis shows that Singapore has the highest HCI score, followed by Indonesia and Timor Leste. Singapore excels in every indicator, such as child survival probability, expected number of years of schooling, and harmonized test scores. Indonesia, although better than Timor Leste, still has significant gaps in education and health quality compared to Singapore. These findings highlight the importance of increasing investment in the education and health sectors in Indonesia and Timor Leste to improve human capital that can support sustainable economic growth.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine the extent to which students' learning outcomes have improved through the application of differentiated learning in a Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model in the Economics subject. The study employs a action research, consisting of two cycles, beginning with a pre-cycle. Each cycle includes the stages of planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting. The results of the research indicate an improvement in students' affective learning outcomes, with pre-cycle data showing 85% (good category), Cycle I showing 82% (good category), and Cycle II showing 88% (very good category). Psychomotor learning outcomes also showed an increase, starting from 78% in the pre-cycle (good category), rising to 82% in Cycle I (good category), and reaching 86% in Cycle II (very good category). Cognitive learning outcomes demonstrated significant improvement as well, with pre-cycle average scores at 57 (10 students achieving the passing grade, 28%), Cycle I average scores at 77 (26 students achieving the passing grade, 72%), and Cycle II average scores at 86 (31 students achieving the passing grade, 86%). The research demonstrates that the implementation of differentiated learning within a Problem-Based Learning model effectively enhances student learning outcomes in the Economics subject.

Abstract

Background. This study stems from the urgent need to comprehensively understand the various contextual factors that contribute to student academic achievement, particularly through the synergy between school leadership and parental involvement within the framework of a sequential mediation model. Purpose. This study aims to systematically synthesize and analyze various empirical findings related to the implementation of sequential mediation models in an educational context, linking school principal leadership, parental support, and student achievement. Method. The approach used was a systematic narrative review involving the examination of relevant, reputable scientific articles, selected based on predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria, which were then analyzed thematically to identify patterns of relationships among variables. Results. The study findings indicate that effective school principal leadership serves as an independent variable that drives increased parental participation and support, which ultimately has a positive impact on student achievement as the dependent variable. Conclusion. Therefore, it can be concluded that strengthening educational leadership integrated with parental involvement within a sequential mediation framework is an effective strategy for improving the quality of student learning outcomes.

Abstract

Reflective thinking skills in economics learning are still relatively low, affecting students' ability to analyze and solve problems systematically. This study aims to analyze the effect of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model on students' reflective thinking skills. The study used a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental one-group pre-test–post-test design. The population included all tenth-grade students, while the sample was class X E of SMAN 2 Tangerang Selatan in the 2025/2026 academic year, comprising 32 students selected through cluster random sampling. The research instruments included ATP, teaching modules, student worksheets (LKPD), and essay tests based on reflective thinking indicators, namely reacting, comparing/elaborating, and contemplating, which had been validated. Data were analyzed using normality tests, N-Gain, and a paired-sample t-test. The findings revealed that the data were normally distributed, with an N-Gain score categorized as low. However, pre-test and post-test scores differed significantly, indicating that PBL significantly improved students' reflective thinking skills despite the low level of improvement. This study contributes to developing innovative problem-based learning strategies to enhance reflective thinking skills in economics education.

Abstract

QRIS stands for Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard, which is considered to be an alternative for payment digitalization of micro-, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs). The issue is that previous studies consider adoption in a dichotomous manner and focus mainly on behavioral intention rather than operations. This paper suggests a simulation-based estimation of the impact of adoption intensity defined as QRIS transactions share on transaction efficiency of MSMEs. A synthetic dataset was created by means of statistical distributions with four hundred synthetic MSMEs across five industries in Indonesia being used. In order to estimate the impact, a benchmark scenario and five adoption scenarios (from 20% up to 100%) were analyzed. In order to estimate the performance, the author used the following components: payment time, transaction cost, errors in the recording process, failures probability, reconciliation time, and processing capacity to calculate the weighted Transaction Efficiency Index (TEI). To propagate uncertainty, a Monte Carlo simulation with one thousand iterations was implemented. The results have shown that average TEI increases from 0.653 to 0.782 in case of digital dominance. Average payment time is reduced by 19.9% and the cost of monthly payments is reduced by 11.2%. It should be noted that there is a trade-off as a result of adoption – QRIS failure exposure increases from 1.8% to 6.8% of transactions. The metamodel estimated with regression shows that there is a positive influence of adoption intensity on TEI (?=0.170; p<0.001) which is significantly improved by internet reliability and digital literacy of MSMEs. The sensitivity analysis revealed that such factors as cash processing time and QRIS processing time play the key role in the model.

Abstract

Student learning outcomes are widely influenced by principal leadership. In Indonesia's decentralized and diversified education system, the mechanisms linking leadership practices to measurable outcomes remain poorly understood, and the existence of multiple leadership models makes synthesizing evidence more difficult. This study provides a thorough analysis of empirical research on the relationship between principal leadership and student performance in Indonesian schools conducted between 2015 and 2025. Using the PRISMA 2020 protocol, we identified 284 records from SCOPUS, Web of Science, ERIC, and Google Scholar; 30 met the inclusion criteria. We collected data on effect sizes, mediators, moderators, and methodological rigor, and assessed study quality using MMAT. The findings show that principal leadership positively affects student outcomes. Important mediators include student motivation, school culture, instructor effectiveness, and educational resources. Contextual factors such as location, resources, accreditation, and digital preparedness moderate these effects. The study suggests that leadership mostly influences outcomes indirectly, highlighting school culture and teacher capacity as key mechanisms and calling for more thorough and varied future research.
