Abstract

Although the demand for English proficiency in the workplace is increasing, limited research has examined its effects on employees' self-efficacy and job performance. English skills are essential for communication, productivity, and career advancement, yet their Influence on workplace outcomes remains understudied. This study investigates the relationship between employees' English self-efficacy and their professional performance using a mixed-methods design. A closed-ended survey was administered to 32 employees across five companies, and additional qualitative insights were collected from three managerial leaders. Quantitative data were analyzed through statistical correlation, while qualitative data were examined using thematic analysis. Findings show a strong correlation (r = .57) between English self-efficacy and job performance, indicating that employees who feel confident in their English abilities tend to perform more effectively. Managers also emphasized that English proficiency is especially important for supervisory and managerial roles. The study concludes that higher English self-efficacy positively contributes to job performance. However, its scope is limited by a small sample drawn from an electronics manufacturing company and by feedback from only three managerial interviewees, reducing the generalizability of the findings. Future research should explore a broader range of international workplace contexts to better how learning communities and vocational training can strengthen employees' language skills and performance.

Abstract

This study analyzes the factors that influence service quality in firefighting and rescue organizations by examining the role of competence, infrastructure, organizational culture, responsiveness, and work discipline. Using a quantitative approach with Structural Equation Modeling using Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS), the results show that responsiveness is the strongest predictor of service quality, followed by infrastructure, indicating that timely action and adequate facilities are key factors in the delivery of effective emergency services. Work discipline shows a smaller but positive contribution, reflecting the relevance of procedural compliance in supporting operational performance. On the other hand, competency and organizational culture show a negative relationship with service quality, suggesting that higher expectations among skilled employees and strong cultural norms can lead to more critical evaluations of service conditions when operational realities do not match internal standards. Overall, these findings highlight that service quality in firefighting and rescue services is primarily influenced by responsiveness and structural readiness, while competence and culture function as evaluative filters shaped by employee perceptions. This study offers practical insights for improving service performance through enhanced response readiness, strengthened infrastructure, and better alignment between organizational expectations and operational support.

Abstract

Turnover intention is a problem that many companies still face, especially in labor-intensive industries such as the garment industry. High employee turnover can disrupt operational stability and increase human resource management costs. This research examines how leadership style, standard operating procedures (SOPs), job motivation, and job satisfaction affect employees’ turnover intention. A quantitative method was employed, with data gathered through questionnaires distributed to sewing department workers in a garment manufacturing firm. Data analysis was carried out using Structural Equation Modeling based on Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). The results show that employee psychological factors play a more dominant role in shaping turnover intention than organizational structural factors. Job motivation is the most decisive factor in reducing employees' intention to leave, followed by job satisfaction and leadership style, which act as supporting factors. Meanwhile, SOPs do not play a dominant role in influencing turnover intention because they function more as a mechanism for regulating operational work. These findings indicate that efforts to control turnover intention in labor-intensive industries need to be directed at improving employee motivation and the overall quality of their work experience.

This research adopted a Research and Development (R&D) framework using the ADDIE model, comprising the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The digital comic was developed using the Ibis Paint X application and tested with 60 children aged 5–6 years at TK Victoria Batam. The data collection techniques included expert feasibility questionnaires, teacher and parent practicality questionnaires, and pretest and posttest observations of children’s empathetic behavior. The research results showed that the digital comic media had a feasibility level of 91.42%, categorizing it as very feasible. The practicality assessment by teachers and parents reached 94.61% and 91.76%, respectively, with a very practical category. In addition, the effectiveness test results showed an N-Gain of 82, indicating a high category. Thus, the Batam Malay culture-based digital comic media was stated to be feasible, practical, and effective as a character education tool in preventing bullying in early childhood

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the management of Christian spiritual programs to improve students’ religious character at SMKS Multistudi High School, Batam. The research used a mixed methods approach with a sequential explanatory design. Quantitative data were obtained through questionnaires completed by 41 students, while qualitative data were collected through interviews with the principal, the vice principal for student affairs, the Christian Religious Education teacher, and the Rohkris advisor, as well as activity documentation. Quantitative analysis used descriptive statistics, while qualitative data were analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The research results showed that students’ religious character was in the good to very good category, indicated by increased discipline, responsibility, politeness, and social concern. The findings indicate that the improvement in religious character was influenced by program management, including structured planning, clear task distribution, habit-based implementation, and continuous evaluation. Programs integrated with Christian Religious Education strengthened the internalization of values in school life. Thus, the quality of spiritual program management became the main factor in the success of shaping students’ religious character, not simply the existence of religious activities

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of school policies in improving quality through the School-Based Management (SBM) approach. The method used was mixed methods with an explanatory sequential research design. The first stage was conducted using a quantitative approach, with a Likert-scale questionnaire administered to parents of students (n = 100), and the survey data were analyzed descriptively. The second stage was conducted using a qualitative approach, with interviews to explain the findings from the quantitative data. The results of the study show that the average score of School-Based Management (SBM) implementation was 3.97 (moderate category), with leadership and decision-making scoring 4.16 as the strongest aspect, curriculum and learning management scoring 4.11 in the good category, evaluation and quality improvement scoring 3.98 in the moderate category, financial and facilities management scoring 3.97 in the moderate category, while parental and community participation scored 3.63 in the moderate category. This study indicates that School-Based Management at SMA Ananda Batam plays a strategic role in improving quality through the principal’s leadership in decision-making, while parental and community participation still needs to be improved through communication forums with a hybrid system. The driving factors for the implementation of School-Based Management include the principal’s transformational-democratic leadership style and a flexible and innovative curriculum, while the inhibiting factors include the absence of a quality assurance team, limited training for improving teachers’ competencies, insufficient maintenance of facilities and infrastructure, and limited communication between parents and the school
