Abstract

This study aims to improve students' English speaking skills by using flash card media in English subjects. This research was carried out at MI Al-Husna Meruya Utara, West Jakarta, class V in the even semester of the 2022/2023 academic year. This type of research is Classroom Action Research (CAR) model Kemmis & Mc. Taggard with the subject of this research are 30 students. This study was designed in three cycles, each cycle consisting of two meetings, each meeting consisting of four stages, namely planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting. The results showed that there was an increase in student learning outcomes through flash card media for Class V MI Al-Husna students. This was proven by the results of data analysis. with an average score of 68, then in cycle I the learning outcomes of students who achieved KKM increased by 63% with an average score of 71.52, in cycle II the KKM reached 83% with an average score of 79.8, and in Cycle III achieved KKM 97% with an average score of 86.4. Thus it can be concluded that using Flash Card Media can improve English speaking skills in fifth grade students at MI Al-Husna Meruya Utara, West Jakarta.

Abstract

This research aims to describe speaking skills through the use of picture storybooks in Indonesian language subjects for class IV students at Belendung Elementary School, Tangerang City. This research is qualitative research with subjects of 9 students in class IV and class IV teachers. The techniques used to collect data are observation, interviews with fourth grade teachers and students, tests, documentation and data analysis which is carried out by reducing data, presenting data and drawing conclusions. So it can be concluded that this research shows that speaking skills through the use of picture story books in class IV students are quite good, on the 5 indicators assessed, namely; pronunciation, intonation, fluency, expression, and accuracy.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui adanya pengaruh penggunaan media pop up book terhadap keterampilan membaca siswa kelas II. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian quasi experiment dengan desai penelitian Non Equivalent Control Group Design. Subjek populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas II SDN Kunciran 03 Kota Tangerang yang berjumlah 60 siswa. Peneliti menggunakan sampel dua kelas yaitu kelas II A sebagai kelas eksperimen yang berjumlah 30 siswa, dan kelas II B sebagai kelas kontrol yang berjumlah 30 siswa. Teknik pengumpulan data dengan menggunakan soal tes yang terdiri dari 5 butir soal yang telah diuji ke validannya. Untuk pengujian hipotesis, penelitian menggunakan uji non parametric atau uji mann whitney (uji u) dikarenakan salah satu data dari kelas kontrol tidak berdistribusi normal atau nilai sig. < 0,05. output yang didapatkan adalah uji mann whitney yang telah diuji diketahui nilai Asymp. Sig (2-tailed) sebesar 0,00 < 0,05 sehingga hipotesis dalam penelitian ini diterima, dengan begitu dikatakan bahwa ada perbedaan keterampilan membaca permulaan siswa kelas eksperimen dan siswa kelas kontrol, maka peneliti menyimpulkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan signifikan bagi siswa yang diberikan media pop up book dengan keterampilan membaca siswa kelas II SDN Kunciran 03 Kota Tangerang.

Abstract

This study highlights the importance of preferences between male and female students that should be taken into account when designing digital game-based learning (DGBL) to improve writing skills. Until the present time, there were limited studies exploring gender differences among male and female students in using DGBL to teach narrative writing text. Thus, the purpose of this study is to examine the effect on students’ narrative writing skills enhanced through DGBL utilizing the Wordwall application, with an emphasis on gender differences. It employed a mixed-method design combining quantitative and qualitative techniques. A quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group was utilized for the quantitative technique, while descriptive method was employed in the qualitative technique. The samples were selected purposively into different groups: experimental (XI Saintika 2 = 36 students) and control (XI Saintika 4 = 36 students). DGBL was utilized to teach narrative writing to the experimental group, whereas traditional techniques were employed to the control group. Students in the experimental group fared much better than those in the control group on both pre- and post-tests (M = 88.05 vs. 79.27), which was supported by t-test results (p < 0.05). It showed that by boosting motivation, engagement, and instant feedback, DGBL successfully improved writing performance. Even among normally passive students, Wordwall’s interactive elements encouraged active involvement. Although both male and female students benefited from DGBL, gender-based analysis showed that males were more competitive and females generally had more positive attitudes and structured writing styles. Teachers are required to design DGBL with various learning activities according to students’ individual differences to make sure all of them are involved actively during the teaching writing process.
