Abstract

Abstract

Mathematics anxiety can reduce students' ability to understand and solve mathematical problems, thus affecting their overall attitude towards mathematics. Mathematics anxiety, a psychological factor that can affect students' learning achievement in mathematics learning in high school, makes it the most challenging subject in school. This study aimed to identify the effect of mathematics anxiety on students' learning achievement at the high school level and to analyze strategic factors that can help reduce mathematics anxiety for students. This study used a quantitative method with an ex post facto research type with a correlational design. The population was grade X high school students in South Tangerang, with a sample size of 84. The side technique used cluster random sampling. Data collection used an instrument in the form of a mathematics anxiety and learning achievement questionnaire. Data analysis was carried out through partial correlation and multiple correlation with a significance level of 0.05, and the prerequisite test analysis used normality, linearity, and multicollinearity tests. The results showed that mathematics anxiety influenced by self-efficacy factors, classroom climate, and academic support from parents and peers significantly affected students' learning achievement in high school. Schools can facilitate a more conducive learning environment to minimize mathematics anxiety and improve learning outcomes. Implementing a learning program that is psychologically responsive and adaptive to students' needs is expected to improve students' mathematics achievement significantly..

Abstract

This study investigates the benefits and challenges of implementing scaffolding strategies in research-based project classes at Esa Unggul University. The participants consisted of 37 undergraduate students enrolled in a research class focused on producing academic research articles. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed using thematic analysis to explore students' experiences with scaffolding throughout the research project process. The findings revealed that scaffolding enhanced students' critical thinking, time management, academic motivation, and ability to use feedback effectively. Structured support mechanisms—such as critical questioning, phased assignments, and staged feedback—enabled students to engage more deeply with complex research tasks and fostered the development of independent learning skills. However, several challenges emerged, including high cognitive load, unclear scaffolding instructions, difficulty applying feedback, and student overreliance on lecturer   guidance. These results suggest that while scaffolding is a powerful instructional strategy, its effectiveness depends on intentional, flexible, and well-sequenced design that supports both structure and autonomy. This study contributes to instructional design by offering practical insights into how scaffolding can be optimized to meet the diverse needs of learners in higher education research setting.

Abstract

Technology integration in education raises the need for a philosophical foundation that guides the use of technology in learning contexts. The philosophy of digital pedagogy is an approach that provides an ethical basis and values that guide the application of technology in the educational process. This paper aims to explore the relationship between digital pedagogical philosophy, critical consciousness, and the role of technology in shaping contextual and adaptive learning experiences. This research uses a hermeneutic approach to describe the reality of Digital Pedagogical Philosophy in building critical awareness of the role of technology in education. This method involves elements of interpretation and description in analyzing and understanding the implications and significance of technology integration in the learning context. The philosophy of digital pedagogy provides a foundation for integrating technology into learning to support the formation of critical, creative, and responsible individuals. Critical awareness of the role of technology in education creates a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities faced in the digital environment. This approach can increase student interaction with course material, increase understanding of concepts, and promote critical thinking.
