Abstract

The aquaculture sector has come to be recognized as a key engine of both economic growth and seafood production worldwide. Shrimp farming in particular, and aquaculture in general, are major contributors to local livelihoods and food security in Sumbawa, West Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. However, as this industry expands, it will have to contend with issues pertaining to productivity, sustainability of the environment, and the long-term viability of the fishing industry. Innovations in shrimp breeding have been implemented in the area to solve these problems. The various effects of these advances on aquaculture productivity and the long-term viability of Sumbawa's fishing enterprises are examined in this qualitative investigation. The results show how innovation, productivity, sustainability, and the particular socio-environmental setting of the area interact in a complicated way. Shrimp growth and disease resistance have increased thanks to selective breeding techniques, but genetic manipulation is still up for discussion. Sustainable feed methods are a viable way to lessen the impact on the environment. Effective disease management, together with market access and adherence to international quality standards, are critical components of a sustainable fisheries enterprise. This study promotes sustainable aquaculture methods and the long-term success of Sumbawa's fishing enterprises by offering useful insights and suggestions.

Abstract

Legal awareness within society is a fundamental factor in establishing an orderly, just, and civilized social life. However, in the Muara Sabak area, many community members still lack an understanding of their legal rights and obligations and remain unaware of the mechanisms to obtain free legal aid. In response to this condition, a community service program was carried out by the Lembaga Bantuan Hukum (Legal Aid Institute) Samudra Muara Sabak, aiming to enhance public understanding and legal awareness through the socialization of the institution’s roles and services. The methods employed included lectures, interactive discussions, and simple case simulations designed in a participatory and communicative manner. The results demonstrated a significant increase across all aspects measured through pre- and post-activity evaluations, particularly in understanding the right to legal aid, knowledge of legal aid institutions, and awareness of resolving issues through lawful means. The average improvement of 40–45% indicates the effectiveness of the socialization method in bridging the information gap between the community and formal legal institutions. Beyond improving knowledge, the program also encouraged behavioral changes, as participants became more inclined to pursue legal channels for conflict resolution and actively disseminate legal information within their communities. Thus, this activity not only strengthened the role of LBH Samudra Muara Sabak as a strategic partner in legal empowerment but also made a tangible contribution to fostering a fair, rational, and civilized legal culture as the foundation for developing a legally conscious society within a democratic state framework.

Abstract

Quality and ethical public service is a fundamental pillar for realizing governance that is just, transparent, and oriented toward community welfare. This community service program aims to enhance the understanding and application of sharia legal principles in public service within Pematang Rahim Village, Mendahara Ulu Subdistrict, Tanjung Jabung Timur Regency. The initiative was motivated by the limited understanding of village officials regarding Islamic legal values that should underpin ethical governance practices. The implementation employed a participatory and educational approach through interactive socialization, reflective lectures, and focus group discussions (FGDs) emphasizing the application of the principles of ‘adl (justice), amanah (trustworthiness), and maslahah (public benefit) in public service contexts. The results indicate a significant improvement in participants’ understanding based on pre-test and post-test evaluations, increasing from 57.7% to 87.3% (a rise of 29.6%). The highest improvement occurred in the aspect of public service ethics based on sharia principles (30%), followed by the ability to apply sharia values in governance (30%), and understanding of basic sharia law concepts (29%). Beyond knowledge enhancement, the program fostered collective awareness among village officials, reflected in their initiative to draft the Islamic Public Service Ethics Guidelines as a follow-up action. Thus, this program not only strengthens the intellectual and spiritual capacity of village officials but also represents a strategic step toward establishing a village governance system that is just, transparent, accountable, and grounded in Islamic ethical values.

Abstract

Abstract, This article presents the findings of a field study aimed at understanding the perspectives of palm oil farmers regarding the implementation of zakat mal. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation, with a descriptive analysis employed to portray the realities of zakat practices among these farmers. The findings indicate that palm oil farmers have not fully grasped the concept of zakat mal. Many perceive zakat and charity as similar, leading to contributions that often do not align with the established nishab. Their donations are more influenced by personal willingness and ability. Additionally, the timing of zakat contributions to the mosque is irregular; they give when they have the means and intent. This lack of understanding is primarily attributed to the insufficient outreach from relevant institutions, including Baznas, local government, and community leaders. Furthermore, the community struggles to locate payment sites for zakat mal due to the absence of zakat administrators in Tanjung Jabung Timur Regency. Keywords: Mal Zakat, oil palm farmers, Tanjung Jabung Timur.

Abstract

Abstract

Culinary MSMEs often face structural challenges regarding financial instability and rigid debt obligations that hinder operational growth. This study explores how profit-sharing based working capital enhances operational efficiency, using the cassava chip industry in Geragai District, Tanjung Jabung Timur, as a case study. Employing a qualitative case study design with purposive sampling, data were collected through in-depth interviews, field observations, and financial document reviews, then analyzed using thematic analysis. The results indicate that the profit-sharing model acts as a "financial safety valve," providing flexibility during raw material price surges and preventing production halts. Furthermore, the participatory monitoring inherent in partnership agreements reduces "cost leakage" and minimizes production waste, improving inventory spoilage from 8% to less than 3%. The study concludes that profit-sharing fosters a professional accounting culture and managerial discipline, offering a more resilient financial framework than traditional debt. These findings suggest that for culinary MSMEs, the structure of capital repayment is more decisive for sustainability than the mere volume of capital injected
