Abstract

The increasing percentage of e-commerce users each year, accompanied by the growing convenience of online shopping, is considered to have led to the phenomenon of impulse buying tendency, especially in the context of e-commerce usage. This study aims to discuss the occurrence of impulse buying tendency in Indonesia based on the perspectives of the Elaboration Likelihood Model and Regulatory Focus Theory, using information transparency to represent the central route, celebrity endorsers to represent the peripheral route, and regulatory focus as a moderating variable. The research is focused on Shopee, which is one of the most popular e-commerce in Indonesia, therefore the population is Shopee users in Indonesia. The purposive sampling technique was used with a total of 445 respondents, which were taken from 5 top universities in Indonesia. The results of this study indicate that both information transparency and celebrity endorsers have a significant influence on impulse buying tendencies. Furthermore, regulatory focus is found to be a significant moderating variable of the relationship between information transparency and impulse buying tendency, however, there is no significant effect found on the moderating role of regulatory focus in the relationship between celebrity endorsers and impulse buying tendency. Referring to this, it is hoped that the Shopee e-commerce company can provide information according to the needs of consumers and consider the selection of supporting celebrities in accordance with the products or brands offered.

Abstract

Research Aims: This study investigates the role of Digital Engagement in mediating the relationship between Marketing Mix, Destination Image, and Revisit Intentions in the tourism industry. It also examines how Technology Adoption and Memorable Tourism Experiences moderate this relationship, providing a deeper understanding of the factors that enhance tourist loyalty in a digitally driven travel environment. Design/Methodology/Approach: A quantitative research design using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) was applied to analyze survey data collected from international tourists who visited Taiwan. The study assessed the direct, indirect, and moderating effects of key tourism variables using reliability and validity tests, structural modeling, and mediation-moderation analysis. Research Findings: The results confirm that Marketing Mix and Destination Image positively influence Digital Engagement, which in turn has a significant impact on Revisit Intentions. Digital Engagement fully or partially mediates the effects of Marketing Mix and Destination Image, reinforcing the importance of online interactions, user-generated content, and social media engagement in shaping travel behavior. Additionally, Technology Adoption strengthens the effect of Digital Engagement on Revisit Intentions, while Memorable Tourism Experiences enhance this relationship, indicating that emotionally rich and technology-supported tourism experiences drive repeat visits. Theoretical Contribution/Originality: This study extends the Stimulus-Organism-Response (S-O-R) framework by demonstrating how Digital Engagement serves as a key psychological mechanism linking external tourism stimuli to behavioral outcomes. It also introduces Technology Adoption and Memorable Tourism Experiences as moderators, offering a more nuanced understanding of how digital interactions and personal travel experiences influence long-term destination loyalty. Practitioner/Policy Implication: The findings suggest that destination marketers and tourism policymakers should invest in interactive digital strategies, smart tourism technologies, and immersive visitor experiences to encourage repeat visits. Enhancing social media campaigns, AI-driven tourism services, and user-generated content initiatives can significantly improve Digital Engagement and long-term destination loyalty. Additionally, designing culturally enriching and emotionally memorable travel experiences can further strengthen tourists' attachment to a destination. Research Limitations/Implications: This study is limited by its cross-sectional design, which restricts the ability to track changes in tourist behavior over time. Future research should adopt a longitudinal approach to examine how Digital Engagement and Revisit Intentions evolve post-travel. Additionally, while this study focuses on Taiwan's international tourism sector, future research could explore its applicability in different cultural and regional contexts to enhance generalizability.

Abstract

The growing role of AI in tourism has transformed how tourists plan and make spending decisions. However, limited research investigates how AI-powered platforms influence tourist spending patterns, particularly in Taiwan’s tourism industry. This study aims to fill that gap by examining the relationship between quality recommendations, user engagement, and trust, with perceived value as a mediator and destination familiarity and economic background as moderators. A quantitative research design was used, with data collected from 400 tourists in Taiwan who utilized AI-driven platforms for travel planning. Respondents were selected using purposive sampling. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was employed to analyze direct, indirect, and moderating relationships. The results reveal that quality recommendations, user engagement, and trust significantly affect tourist spending patterns. Perceived value mediates these relationships, while destination familiarity and economic background moderate their influence, particularly for first-time visitors and high-income tourists. This study contributes to the literature by integrating mediating and moderating variables, offering a comprehensive understanding of AI’s impact on tourism. Practically, it suggests that tourism stakeholders should focus on building trust and enhancing AI-driven recommendations to increase spending. Future studies should explore cultural influences and the long-term effects of AI on tourist behavior across different contexts.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of smart destination management on tourists’ satisfaction and perceived sustainability in six major destinations in Indonesia: Jakarta, Bandung, Yogyakarta, Malang, Bali, and Lombok. Using the Smart Tourism Destination (STD) framework, this study investigates the effects of smart tourism infrastructure, destination communication, and crowd management experience, with perceived destination accessibility as a mediator and tourists’ digital literacy as a moderator. A total of 380 valid responses were collected through a structured survey and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The results show that the three core dimensions contribute significantly to enhance tourists’ satisfaction, with perceived accessibility serving as key mediator. Tourists’ satisfaction also strongly predicts perceived sustainability. Digital literacy moderates the smart services’ effectiveness, highlighting the importance of individual readiness. Multi-Group Analysis (MGA) results reveal that crowd management has a significantly stronger impact in islandbased destinations, suggesting the need for context-sensitive strategies. Theoretically, this study expands the STD framework by integrating individual and spatial dimensions. Practically, it offers insights for destination managers to invest in inclusive technologies, support digital literacy, and tailor approaches based on destination types. These findings support the development of smart and sustainable tourism, particularly in emerging economies like Indonesia.

Abstract

This study investigates how psychological safety and transformational leadership influence empowering leadership and, in turn, how empowering leadership fosters job satisfaction to reduce employee disengagement and promote innovative work behavior. Drawing on self-determination theory and social exchange theory, this research develops an integrated model in which job satisfaction and empowering leadership serve as key mediators. Furthermore, the study examines the moderating role of regional context, urban versus regional areas in Indonesia, in shaping the relationship between job satisfaction and disengagement. Data were collected from 500 employees across various industries using a structured questionnaire and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The findings reveal that both psychological safety and transformational leadership significantly enhance empowering leadership, which subsequently boosts job satisfaction. In turn, job satisfaction reduces disengagement and indirectly promotes innovative work behavior. Importantly, the negative effect of job satisfaction on disengagement is significantly weaker in urban areas than in regional areas. This study contributes to leadership and organizational behavior literature by highlighting the contextual importance of region in disengagement dynamics. It offers practical insights for managers seeking to cultivate innovation through empowerment and regional sensitivity.

Abstract

Indonesian restaurants in Taiwan face significant challenges in gaining recognition among the local population and international patrons, primarily due to cultural differences and limited marketing efforts. This study investigates the impact of food quality, service quality, pricing strategy, and marketing initiatives on patron satisfaction and brand recognition of Indonesian restaurants in Taiwan. It also examines how cultural familiarity moderates these relationships. A structured survey was conducted among 400 international patrons who dined at Indonesian eateries in Taiwan. Data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) with Partial Least Squares (PLS) and moderation analysis. Findings reveal that food quality and pricing strategy significantly enhance customer satisfaction, while service quality and marketing efforts do not. Cultural familiarity strengthens the positive effect of food quality on satisfaction. This study underscores the importance of maintaining high food quality, implementing effective pricing strategies, and leveraging cultural familiarity for Indonesian restaurant owners in Taiwan. The research highlights the role of cultural factors in customer perceptions, contributing to the discourse on marketing strategies in the competitive food industry. The sample's focus on foreign customers in Taiwan may limit the broader applicability of the findings. Future research should consider factors like ambiance, location, and menu diversity for a comprehensive understanding of customer satisfaction and brand awareness.
