Abstract

This study investigates the semantic diversity embedded in the naming lexicon of traditional culinary dishes in Indramayu Regency, West Java, Indonesia. The research aims to uncover variations in meaning, both literal and culturally constructed, reflected in local food terminology. Using descriptive analytical methods, data were collected through field observations, interviews with food vendors, menu documentation, and restaurant signage. The analysis focuses on identifying variations in the extended meanings of culinary terms within the local linguistic and cultural context. The findings reveal that the names of traditional dishes often carry multiple meanings that relate not only to their ingredients or preparation methods, but also to historical events, social values, and regional identity. This semantic diversity shows how language and culture interact dynamically to preserve and change regional culinary traditions. In order to promote cultural sustainability and deepen our awareness of the regional language environment, this study emphasizes the significance of recording and analyzing such linguistic events. In this article, ten culinary data sets were examined.

Abstract

Religious moderation is an important principle in building a harmonious and inclusive religious life. In the context of Nusantara Islam, moderate values are not only manifested in worship practices and social interactions, but are also reflected through art and architecture. The Sheikh Zayed Mosque in Surakarta is a concrete example of cultural acculturation that is full of spiritual and aesthetic meaning. This article aims to examine how batik motifs applied to mosque ornaments reflect messages of religious moderation. With a hermeneutic approach and symbolic analysis, this study examines three main motifs: Lung-lungan, Buket Ukel Tanahan and Kawung—as representations of the values of balance, openness, and tolerance in Islamic teachings. The results of the study show that batik motifs are not merely visual decorations, but also an effective medium of cultural da’wah in strengthening the narrative of Islam rahmatan lil ‘alamin in public spaces. a visual narrative of Islam that is friendly to culture, open to diversity, and strong in principle. These symbols reinforce the message that religious moderation is not only a verbal teaching, but is also embedded in the cultural and aesthetic expressions of Islam Nusantara.

Abstract

This article comprehensively explains the structure of Buddhist logic in explaining or describing the highest knowledge. The highest knowledge (Maha Prajñā) in question is knowledge of Nirvana (Pāli: Nibbāna). Buddhism describes Nirvana through paradoxical logic which, when viewed from the perspective of deductive logic in the Western logical tradition, is certainly invalid and often even concluded to be a fallacy. Although considered invalid or even a fallacy, Buddhist paradoxical logic has a functional mode, namely as a transcendental effort to optionally remove obstacles that arise from the mind and ultimately be able to directly experience the most authentic reality. This is what is called the highest knowledge. In solving this work, a conceptual analysis method was carried out with a literature study research model. From the results of the search and analysis, it was found that paradoxical logic is often present in classical Buddhist texts such as the Prajñā Pāramitā Hṛdaya Sūtra and Laṅkāvatāra Sūtra. This logic was later structured by Dharmakirti as a method of debate and referred to as Svavacanavirodha. In contemporary Eastern philosophical studies, this logic influences the logic of absolute self-contradiction or concrete logic (gutaiteki ronri) developed by Nishida Kitarō as an attempt to understand the nature of reality. In spiritual application, this logic can be developed as a method to liberate oneself from mental disturbances that can hinder the development of the intuitive dimension, thus making enlightenment more attainable.
