Abstract

This study investigates the policy dynamics and institutional mechanisms guiding capacity building in Ethiopia’s higher education within the framework of internationalisation and quality assurance. Drawing on a qualitative document review approach, the research analysed government policies, institutional strategies, and accreditation reports to assess how national directives align with global trends in higher education reform. The findings indicate that Ethiopian education policy increasingly incorporates internationalisation goals, such as academic mobility, collaborative research, curriculum benchmarking, and global quality standards. Strategic plans also highlight the importance of institutional autonomy and contextual relevance in Islamic education delivery. Despite this, the study reveals persistent challenges, including inadequate financial support, coordination gaps between agencies, and limited institutional readiness—especially among faith-based universities. Empirical evidence, including national audit reports and academic performance records, points to modest growth in faculty qualifications and research output in recent years, although progress varies across institutions. Thematic analysis suggests that while policy aspirations are clear, the operationalisation of these ambitions remains uneven and highly dependent on external funding and technical assistance. Moreover, the regulatory environment lacks specificity in addressing the dual demands of religious identity and global competitiveness. This paper contributes to ongoing debates on harmonising Islamic education with international academic standards in the Global South. It offers policy-level recommendations to strengthen institutional governance, resource mobilisation, and inter-agency collaboration. Ultimately, the study encourages rethinking capacity building not only as institutional enhancement but also as a culturally grounded and globally oriented transformation process in higher education systems.

Abstract

This study explores the effectiveness of clinical supervision in enhancing teaching quality and teacher professionalism in secondary religious schools. Clinical supervision is viewed as a collaborative and reflective approach that offers teachers an opportunity to develop pedagogical competencies through structured guidance and constructive feedback. Employing a qualitative approach with a case study design, this research involved direct observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis of supervision activities within the school. Findings indicate that clinical supervision not only improves teaching skills but also encourages teachers to be more reflective in their practice, fostering a dynamic and adaptive learning environment. The collaborative nature of this supervision allows teachers to receive constructive and solution-oriented feedback, driving innovation in teaching methods and building confidence. Additionally, challenges such as limited time and resources were identified, which can be mitigated through strategic planning and enhanced management support. This study concludes that clinical supervision is an effective tool for improving teaching quality and teacher professionalism, with broader applicability in strengthening teaching practices across diverse educational contexts. These findings are expected to underpin educational policy development that emphasises continuous support and professional development for teachers.

Abstract

This study evaluates the effectiveness of ICT-based media training in enhancing the competence of religious counselors. The training focuses on developing counselors' digital and communication skills, enabling them to proficiently create, manage, and utilize ICT media for religious education. Using a structured Service-Learning approach, the program consists of four stages: initial needs assessment and planning, implementation with a pre-assessment, post-training evaluation conducted via Google Forms, and subsequent mentoring to reinforce skill application. The results indicate significant advancements in counselors' ability to employ ICT media in engaging and relevant ways that align with modern educational demands. Through this training, counselors are better equipped to deliver religious content that appeals to a broad audience, thereby enhancing the accessibility and effectiveness of religious guidance in today’s digital environment. Findings demonstrate that ICT-based training serves as an effective method for equipping religious educators with vital digital skills, ultimately supporting their role in providing impactful religious counseling within contemporary contexts..

Abstract

Community service in Wedegan Hamlet, Sambikerep Village, Rejoso Subdistrict, Nganjuk Regency aims to improve the quality of education and religious life in order to strengthen community empowerment. This program involves a participatory approach, in which the community plays an active role in planning and implementing various activities that are relevant to their needs. The main focus of this program is the revitalization of religious activities in local mosques and prayer rooms, improving the quality of non-formal education through tutoring, and developing social skills for teenagers through tambourine art training. In addition, this program also seeks to raise community awareness of the importance of education and religious activities as an integral part of daily life. The results achieved show an increase in community participation in religious activities, improved quality of children's education through tutoring, and the creation of more harmonious social relationships among residents. Community empowerment through this program has made an important contribution to creating sustainable social change at the village level.

Abstract

RA TAAM Adinda is an early childhood education institution that prioritized Islamic values in learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. This research aims to determine the Islamic education values instilled in early childhood at RA TAAM Adinda in the village of Kepatihan Menganti Gresik, as well as its learning models. This study is field research with a descriptive qualitative approach. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted in three stages: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion/verification. The findings of this study can be summarized that the Islamic values taught to early childhood at RA TAAM Adinda Menganti Gresik are values of faith, Sharia, and akhlak. The Islamic Education learning model during the COVID-19 pandemic at RA TAAM Adinda is carried out through active learning approaches and enjoyable learning approaches. The methods used include the playing method, storytelling method, exemplary method, habituation method, demonstration method, and question-answer method using video calls, sending videos in WhatsApp groups, and Zoom. Meanwhile, the Islamic Education learning procedure is carried out through planning, implementation, and evaluation stages.

Abstract

Program santunan anak yatim piatu dan dhuafa ini merupakan bentuk pengabdian dosen terhadap masyarakat dengan cara memberikan dukungan baik secara moral maupun material. Dan salah satu tujuan dari kegiatan ini adalah untuk membina kepedulian masyarakat terhadap anak yatim piatu dan dhuafa. Selain itu, tujuan dari kegiatan sosial ini diharapkan dapat memberikan manfaat secara langsung bagi masyarakat setempat serta mengajarkan masyarakat menyantuni anak yatim. Kegiatan sosial ini bertempat di Pondok Pesantren ALHANA Sukolilo Barat Labang Bangkalan, dengan jumlah 28 anak yatim piatu dan dhuafa yang hadir dan menerima bantuan. Adapun santunan yang diberikan berupa uang sebesar 300.000 perorang dan bingkisan dari Laz Sidogiri berupa sembako.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the influence of competence, work motivation, and managerial strategies on teacher performance and their impact on the quality of education in Islamic educational institutions. The focus of the research is directed at integrated Islamic madrassas and schools, which are committed to maintaining the quality of education amid limited resources. The Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) method was used to analyze the causal relationship between these variables, with data obtained through surveys from teachers in several Islamic educational institutions. The results of the study show that teacher competence has a significant effect on teaching performance, which ultimately improves the quality of education. In addition, work motivation plays an important mediating role, where continuous career development can maintain teacher commitment. Managerial strategies implemented by school leaders also contribute positively to increasing productivity and teacher focus in teaching. This study concludes that the combination of competence, motivation, and adequate managerial support is a key factor in improving teacher performance and education quality in Islamic educational institutions. This finding provides recommendations for managers of Islamic educational institutions to focus on developing human resources to achieve optimal quality of education

Abstract

Pemikiran Islam tradisional secara general memberikan keterbatasan peran perempuan sebagai istri dan ibu. Berdasarkan pandangan teks dan literature Islam klasik tersebut masih terlihat bahwa kaum perempuan masih termarjinalkan, atau dengan kata lain perempuan masih berada di bawah dominasi laki-laki. Oleh karenanya, wacana atau konstruk perempuan harus menurut kehendak teks. Tak dapat dipungkiri bahwa penafsiran ulama-ulama klasik tentang konsep persamaan laki-laki dan perempuan jika dilihat dari perspektif saat ini bisa saja dinilai sebagai bias. Sebab penafsiran-penafsiran masa lampau itu tidak dapat dilepaskan dengan konteks sosio-historis saat itu. Abstract

This article tries to explain the basic understanding of the term 'lslam Nusantara', including its history and methodology. Since its inception, lslam Nusantara has become a heated discussion in the public discourse. Controversies and misunderstandings have occurred with those who support and against it. ln the circle of NU (Nahdhatul Ulama), there is a group who prefer the term lslam rahmatan lil 'alamiin than lslam Nusantara. This article aims to minimize the negative accusation against the concept of lslam Nusantara like the following phrases; lslam Nusantara has the potency to gnaw the principle teachings of lslam, or lslam Nusantara has deviated from the teaching of Ahlus Sunnah Waljama'ah (Aswaia). Abstract

Kalau kita merujuk kepada al Quran sebagai acuan ekspresi keberagamaan sama ada pada level pemahaman mahupun penerapan, maka secara eksplisit ia menegaskan eksistensi umat moderat (Ummatan Wasathan). Dengan kata lain seorang muslim moderat adalah muslim yang memberi setiap nilai atau aspek yang berseberangan bagian tertentu tidak lebih dari hak yang semestinya. Karena manusia siapa pun ia tidak mampu melepaskan dirinya dari pengaruh dan bias sama ada pengaruh tradisi, pikiran, keluarga mahupun zaman dan tempatnya, maka ia tidak mungkin merepresentasikan atau mempersembahkan moderasi penuh dalam dunia nyata. Kehadiran Islam sebagai agama adalah untuk menarik manusia dari sikap ekstrim yang berlebihan dan memposisikannya pada posisi yang seimbang. Maka dalam ajaran ajaran Islam terdapat unsur rabbaniyyah (ketuhanan) dan Insaniyyah (kemanusiaan), mengkombinasi antara Maddiyyah (materialisme) dan ruhiyyah (spiritualisme), menggabungkan antara wahyu (revelation) dan akal (reason), antara maslahah ammah (al jamaaiyyah) dan maslahah individu (al fardiyyah), dan lain lain sebagainya. Konsekwensi dari moderasi Islam sebagai agama, maka tidak satupun unsur atau hakikat hakikat yang disebutkan diatas dirugikan. Berdasarkan kenyataan diatas, maka harus ditegaskan lebih awal bahawa al-washatiyyah dalam Islam akan menjadi keniscayaan di setaip aspek yang akan dibahas di bawah ini.
