Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of a Game-Based Learning model assisted by diorama media on fourth-grade students' understanding of science concepts at SDN 3 Leuwigoong. The participants were Class IV-A as the experimental group, which received Game-Based Learning assisted by diorama media, and Class IV-B as the control group, which received conventional instruction. Data were collected through science concept understanding test administered to both groups. The data were analyzed using an independent sample t-test at a significance level of 0.05 and an N-Gain test. The results showed a significance value of 0.022 <0.05, indicating a significant difference between the groups. The N-Gain analysis revealed an average improvement score of 0.653 in the experimental group and 0.503 in the control group. Therefore, the Game-Based Learning model assisted by diorama media was more effective in improving students" understanding of science concepts.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of using Pop Up Book media on the science process skills of fourth-grade students in science and social studies (IPAS) learning at the elementary school level. The study employed a quantitative approach with an experimental method using a Pre-Experimental design, specifically the One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The participants consisted of 25 fourth-grade students of SDN 2 Wangunjaya selected through a saturated sampling technique. Data were collected using pretest and posttest instruments developed based on science process skill indicators. The results showed that the mean score increased from 36.3 in the pretest to 79.2 in the posttest. The hypothesis testing using a paired sample t-test yielded a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, indicating that the use of Pop Up Book media had a significant effect on students' science process skills. In addition, the N-Gain score was 0.67, which falls into the moderate category, indicating an improvement in students' abilities after the learning process. Therefore, it can be concluded that Pop Up Book media is effective in improving the science process skills of fourth-grade students in IPAS learning at the elementary school level.

Abstract

Indonesian serves as both the national language and the official medium of instruction in education. However, the dominant use of local languages in students’ daily lives may influence the use of Indonesian during learning activities. This study aims to describe the existence of Indonesian as the medium of instruction in the learning process of third-grade students at SDN 4 Cibatu, identify factors affecting its use, and examine teachers' efforts to maintain the use of Indonesian in school. This study employed a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The research subjects consisted of the third-grade homeroom teacher and 42 students, including 20 male students and 22 female students. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that Indonesian remains the primary language of instruction in classroom learning. Approximately 70% of students were able to understand and use Indonesian effectively, while 30% still tended to use Sundanese in daily communication. Factors influencing the use of Indonesian include family environment, community environment, teachers, and students' language abilities. Teachers maintain the existence of Indonesian through language habituation, role modeling, literacy activities, and motivation. Thus, Indonesian maintains a strong position as the medium of instruction in the learning process at SDN 4 Cibatu.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach on fourth-grade students’ conceptual understanding of integer multiplication at SDN 1 Ngamplangsari. This study employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method with a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The sample consisted of 40 students, including 20 students in the experimental class and 20 students in the control class. Data were collected through a conceptual understanding test and analyzed using the Independent Sample t-Test and N-Gain analysis. The results showed that the experimental class mean score increased from 61.25 on the pretest to 81.00 on the posttest, while the control class increased from 59.25 to 62.00. The Independent Sample t-Test yielded a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, indicating a significant effect of the RME approach on students’ conceptual understanding. Furthermore, the N-Gain score of 67.97% indicated that the implementation of RME was moderately effective. Therefore, the RME approach significantly improves elementary school students’ conceptual understanding of integer multiplication.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the level of technology utilization in supporting school literacy programs and examine its relationship with students’ literacy interest among fifth-grade students at SDN 2 Keresek. The study is motivated by the increasing demand for digital literacy in the 21st century, where students are expected not only to read and write but also to critically understand and utilize information through digital media. However, technology use among elementary school students is still largely oriented toward entertainment rather than educational purposes. This research employed a quantitative approach with a descriptive correlational method. The sample consisted of 15 students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive statistics and Pearson correlation. The results indicate that technology utilization is categorized as high, with an average score of 78.53. There is a significant and strong relationship between technology utilization and students’ literacy interest (r =0.652; p< 0.001). The use of digital technology contributes to increasing students’ engagement, motivation, and participation in literacy activities. However, challenges such as limited infrastructure, unequal access, and lack of optimal guidance remain. Therefore, strengthening the integration of technology in literacy programs is essential to improve the effectiveness and quality of elementary education.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the obstacles and challenges in implementing the Merdeka Curriculum in grade IV of SDN 6 Mekarjaya. The Merdeka Curriculum emphasizes student‑centered learning, project‑based learning, and the development of the Pancasila Student Profile. However, its implementation faces several barriers, including limited teacher understanding, inadequate learning facilities, and diverse student characteristics. This research employed a qualitative descriptive method with observation, interviews, and documentation as data collection techniques. The findings reveal that teachers encounter difficulties in designing learning modules, conducting diagnostic assessments, and applying project‑based learning due to limited resources. Moreover, students’ varied abilities and parental involvement also influence the effectiveness of curriculum implementation. The study concludes that collaborative efforts between teachers, schools, and parents are essential to overcome these challenges. Recommendations include continuous teacher training, provision of adequate learning facilities, and strengthening school–parent partnerships to ensure successful implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum.
