Abstract

Daily life cannot be separated from the use of electrical energy, such as in homes, which often cannot limit it. Accompanied by technological developments so that the internet can be used in everyday life, the concept of the Internet of Things emerged. This concept has been utilized so that it can help maximize the use of electrical energy. Using NodeMCU which has an ESP8266 Chip so it is able to connect to the internet. The Blynk platform is used for users as a tools to find out in real time the power and costs of using electrical energy. Limitations on electricity use can be set. When the electricity usage has reached the usage limit, the buzzer will turn on automatically as a warning. Another additional control that can be carried out is cutting off electricity which can be done remotely. Cutting off the electricity flow is carried out using a relay which is a switch that is operated using electricity.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to understand the influence between leadership style, organizational culture, and self-concept on the trainers’ performance at the Vocational Training Institutions in Batam. These factors are contributing a lot to the successive performance of the students, trainers, and institutions. However, this study only gives framework to the performance of the trainers. Improving trainers’ performance will lead to the improvement of training or educational operation. Some methods such as interviews, observations and questionnaires were used to collect the data. There were 82 trainers selected as respondents to fill the questionnaires, and the data obtained were analyzed using SPSS program. Statistical test methods such as prerequisite analytical tests, t-test, F-test, multiple linear regressions, and coefficients determination. The results give conclusion that there is significant effect and correlation between the leadership styles, organizational cultures, and self-concept on the trainers’ performance at the Vocational Training Institutions in Batam.

Abstract

This research is performed to evaluate the implementation of ISO 900A Lead Auditor Training program using CIPP model evaluation method which comprising of four aspects i.e.: (1) Context, (2) Input, (3) Process and (4) Product. The research method is using mixed method by using both quantitative and qualitative methods, where the data are collected using sampling technique by distributing questionnaires to 15 trainers and 25 trainees or training participants. The data also enriched by using qualitative method of interview and observation done on trainers and training participants. The results of the research and studies show that the training program from the context aspects of the trainers is 80.65% and from participants is 80.45%, from the input aspects of the trainers and participants are consecutively 81.5% and 75.87%, from the process aspects are 79.2% and 71.87%, and from the product aspects of trainers and participants are 80.02% and 75.7%. This can be concluded that the range of TPR are from 71.87% to 81.5% which fall into ‘good’ and ‘very good’ categories.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the fact that many students still have learning outcomes below the KKM in class XI TITL students of SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Padang in the subject of Electrical Lighting Installation. One of the factors that influence the low grades of students is the application of learning media that does not yet require students to play an active role in learning. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct research using learning media to achieve more effective learning so that student learning outcomes increase. The type of model used in this study is the Instructional Development Institute (IDI) model. In this IDI, the principles of a systems approach are applied which include three stages, namely discovery (define), development (develop), and evaluation (evaluate). The discovery stage (define) contains the steps of background analysis and problem identification. The second stage is the development stage (develop) which contains the preparation of the initial form (prototype) of the product and product validation. Then the third stage is the evaluation/assessment stage (evaluate) which contains the steps of testing and analyzing the results of the trial. The results of the study indicate that the developed Son Off Training Kit can improve students' understanding of the basic and practical concepts of electrical lighting installations. Based on validation tests from material and media experts, this Training Kit gets the "valid" category for use in the learning process.

Abstract

This research aims to revolutionize the examination process in vocational schools by developing the FlyExam application, an Android-based test platform derived from improvements to the TCExam interface. The core goal was to create a powerful, easy-to-use, and effective tool for semester assessment. Following a Research and Development (R&D) approach, this research uses a 4D model: Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate. Validation procedures require expert evaluation of the technical aspects and usability of the application. At the same time, practicality is assessed through engagement with students and teachers, and effectiveness is measured by student performance. Expert reviews and user feedback confirm the validity and practicality of the application. During implementation, the LAN network topology proved to be a conducive environment for conducting semester exams, increasing the efficiency and reliability of the testing process. The integration of TCExam and FlyExam on mobile devices shows the potential of transitioning from traditional paper-based exams to digital platforms, offering greater flexibility and accessibility. Future research efforts could explore FlyExam's scalability and adaptability in various educational contexts and its long-term impact on assessment practices and academic outcomes. Additionally, ongoing improvements based on user feedback can lead to further improvements and the incorporation of new features, ensuring FlyExam remains relevant and effective in meeting evolving vocational education needs. In summary, the development of FlyExam represents significant progress in the modernization of assessment methodology, with the potential to simplify the process and improve the learning experience in vocational schools.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan siswa Pondok Pesantren Modern Nurul Ikhlas (PPMNI) Tanah Datar dalam perawatan dan reparasi peralatan rumah tangga listrik. Kegiatan ini berbentuk pelatihan yang mencakup materi tentang bahaya kejut listrik serta cara menghindarinya, dan pelatihan teknis untuk memperbaiki peralatan rumah tangga listrik seperti dispenser, rice cooker, setrika listrik, kipas angin, dan peralatan lainnya yang digunakan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Tujuan utama dari pelatihan ini adalah membekali siswa dengan keterampilan teknis yang memadai untuk merawat dan memperbaiki peralatan listrik secara aman, serta meningkatkan sikap peduli terhadap potensi bahaya yang dapat timbul akibat kerusakan komponen listrik. Hasil pengabdian menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan pada pengetahuan siswa mengenai bahaya kejut listrik dan tindakan pencegahan yang tepat. Selain itu, siswa juga berhasil menguasai keterampilan dasar dalam merawat dan memperbaiki peralatan rumah tangga listrik. Keterampilan ini tidak hanya bermanfaat dalam kehidupan sehari-hari di lingkungan pesantren, tetapi juga membuka peluang bagi siswa untuk memanfaatkan pengetahuan ini di luar lingkungan pesantren. Sikap siswa terhadap pentingnya keselamatan penggunaan listrik juga mengalami perubahan positif, ditandai dengan peningkatan kepedulian terhadap penggunaan peralatan listrik yang aman.

Abstract

This article studied the integration of gamification in work-based learning within vocational education as a means to support students' coding abilities. By applying game mechanics such as points, badges, leaderboards, and challenges, we aimed to motivate and engage students in coding activities that mirror real-world industry practices. The inclusion of gamified elements into the curriculum was designed to make the learning process more interactive, fostering a competitive yet collaborative environment that enhances students' interest and perseverance in coding tasks. This research employed a quasi-experimental design with pre-test and post-test measures to assess the impact of gamification on coding proficiency, comparing the outcomes of students participating in gamified learning environments with those in traditional settings. The findings indicate a significant improvement in the coding skills of students exposed to gamified work-based learning, suggesting that gamification can serve as an effective pedagogical tool in vocational education, better preparing students for industry demands.

Abstract

Internet of Things (IoT) technology is still very little used in the world of education today, for example the use of IoT in training devices, so it is highly recommended to be implemented and taught to the next generation through the application of Internet of Things (IoT) based training devices in schools or universities . To develop your capabilities, one way is to create an Internet of Things (IoT)-based housing installation training device that has been designed or supported by technology and can be controlled via smartphone. This research was carried out through several stages of production including software creation and design. such as using the Arduino IDE application which is used to create programming sketches on the Arduino nano board, in other words the Arduino IDE is used as a programming medium on the Arduino nano so that the Arduino nano can read measurement results from the Arduino nano board. PZEM-004T sensor and displaying it on an LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) as well as manufacturing and designing hardware as a framework component. Tool testing and measurements are carried out to analyze the performance of bardi components and ordinary components and to verify the suitability and performance of the training kit tools to be made. So that the tools made are of good quality and can be used according to their intended purpose. The test results show that the use of bardi components does not consume too much electrical power compared to ordinary components.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to create a smart assessment system linked to a project-based learning model through a website. It is anticipated that this system will raise the proficiency and productivity of learning evaluation through the implementation of digital technology. The approach applied in this research includes the identification of needs, and the designing of the system, followed by software development and testing. According to the findings of the research, it is evident that the system developed for smart assessment can offer several complex and combined assessment facilities within the system, which would help the educators for easier examination of the student’s performance on a real-time basis. In addition to that, this system also enhances the common work of the students with the educators on completing the project assigned by the latter. Hence, the incorporation of website-based online assessments tries to extend the validity of the PBL implementation approach as well as contribute positively towards embracing positive enhancement in education.

Abstract

The jack is the main equipment that must be present when driving a car. The presence of a jack is very important in the event of a tire leak or other damage that requires the jack to be operated. The operation of the jack is very difficult if the operator is an elderly person, a disabled person or a woman. Therefore, it is necessary to modify the mechanical jack into an easier electric jack. The purpose of this study was to modify a manual bottle screw jack into an electric jack to make it easier for the operator or driver if the car needs to be lifted using a jack. The modified jack is a type of bottle screw jack using an electric motor. The modification of the jack is done using a DC motor as the main driver to replace human power and other components. The load test was carried out using a Mitsubishi Colt T with a weight of 1000 Kg. The results show that the modified jack helps to reduce the difficulty in operation, reduce time, increase efficiency.
