Abstract

Atherosclerosis is a chronic inflammatory disease characterized by endothelial dysfunction, lipid metabolic imbalance, and immune activation, ultimately leading to plaque formation and instability. Angiopoietin-like protein 4 (ANGPTL4) has emerged as a key regulator linking lipid metabolism, endothelial function, and inflammatory responses. However, its mechanistic role in atherosclerosis and its modulation by lifestyle factors remain incompletely understood. This review synthesizes 13 original studies comprising preclinical studies, human observational studies, and non-randomized interventions. The analysis focused on the biomolecular role of ANGPTL4 across different stages of atherosclerosis and its regulation by lifestyle factors such as fasting and physical activity. Experimental studies demonstrated that ANGPTL4 exerts a protective role against atherosclerosis by preserving endothelial integrity through Krüppel-like factor–dependent signaling and suppression of endothelial-to-mesenchymal transition. ANGPTL4 also regulates lipid metabolism and constrains macrophage inflammatory activation, thereby limiting plaque progression and instability. In human studies, ANGPTL4 loss-of-function variants were associated with favorable lipid profiles and reduced cardiometabolic risk, whereas elevated circulating levels of ANGPTL family members correlated with atherosclerosis severity and adverse cardiovascular outcomes. Lifestyle-related exposures, including fasting and physical activity, consistently induced ANGPTL4 expression across metabolic tissues. These findings indicate that ANGPTL4 serves as a molecular interface between lipid metabolism, vascular homeostasis, inflammation, and lifestyle-induced metabolic adaptation. The tissue-specific and context-dependent regulation of ANGPTL4 highlights the complexity of its role in atherosclerosis and suggests that therapeutic modulation requires careful consideration of systemic versus local vascular effects. In conclusion, ANGPTL4 is a pivotal mediator in atherosclerosis pathogenesis and metabolic responses to lifestyle factors. Integrating lifestyle-based interventions with therapeutic strategies targeting ANGPTL4 may offer a comprehensive approach for the prevention and management of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of reading literacy strategies in Merdeka Curriculum instruction for fourth-grade students at SD Negeri Buniwah 01, covering planning, implementation, evaluation, and the supporting and inhibiting factors faced by the teacher. A qualitative approach with a case study design was employed. The participants consisted of one fourth-grade teacher, one principal, and 25 students. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, and were analyzed using Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña’s interactive model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification. Data trustworthiness was ensured through source and technique triangulation, member checking, and the use of adequate theoretical references. The results show that the teacher planned literacy activities by integrating reading materials into teaching modules aligned with themes and learning outcomes in the Merdeka Curriculum. The main strategies used were guided reading, paired reading, and reading aloud. These strategies increased student engagement, facilitated text comprehension, and enriched vocabulary. Supporting factors included the availability of a reading corner, the principal’s commitment, and the teacher’s creativity in designing literacy activities. Inhibiting factors included limited thematic reading collections, diverse reading abilities among students, time constraints, and an uneven home reading culture. Efforts to address these obstacles involved utilizing digital reading resources, developing simplified teacher-made texts, implementing differentiated instruction, and involving parents through home reading assignments. Overall, the implementation of reading literacy strategies in Merdeka Curriculum instruction had a positive impact on students’ motivation and reading comprehension and contributed to the development of adaptive and sustainable reading literacy programs in primary schools.

Abstract

Idiomatic phrases play a crucial role in enriching Indonesian language expression, particularly in verbal art forms such as modern song lyrics. This research aims to identify idiomatic phrases in the song "Dalam Diam" by Sal Priadi, analyze their structural formation, and describe their idiomatic meanings. This descriptive qualitative research employs observation and note-taking methods for data collection, and distributional analysis for examining data from the "Berhati" album (2020). Research findings identify six idiomatic phrases from the total comprehensive data discovered in the song lyrics, featuring diverse structures with dominant Noun + Verb + Noun (N+V+N) patterns. Idiomatic phrases are classified into six semantic categories: body and emotion metaphors, abstract personification, visual metaphors, light metaphors, nature metaphors, and sound and atmosphere metaphors. All categories contribute to conveying themes of introspection and self-contemplation. The research concludes that idiomatic phrases enhance the artistic dimension of contemporary Indonesian indie pop music and reflect modern Indonesian societal values in expressing emotional experiences through figurative language rich in symbolic meaning.

Abstract

Teachers’ performance in Islamic educational institutions is increasingly challenged by rising professional demands that require not only technical competence but also strong internal regulation and moral commitment. Self-management grounded in Islamic values offers a holistic approach to strengthening teachers’ psychological confidence and professional conduct, yet its role in shaping self-efficacy and performance has received limited scholarly attention. This study aims to examine the role of Islamic values–based self-management in enhancing teachers’ self-efficacy and professional performance within Islamic education contexts. The study employs a qualitative research design using a descriptive–analytical library research approach, drawing on primary and secondary sources such as academic books, peer-reviewed journals, and authoritative Islamic educational texts. The analysis focuses on the interrelationship between value-based self-regulation, teachers’ self-efficacy, and performance. The findings indicate that Islamic values–based self-management, characterized by amanah, sincerity, discipline, responsibility, and spiritual accountability, significantly strengthens teachers’ self-efficacy. Enhanced self-efficacy subsequently contributes to consistent instructional behavior, ethical professionalism, and sustained performance. The results suggest that teacher performance is more effectively supported through internally motivated, value-driven self-regulation than through external control mechanisms alone. The study concludes that integrating Islamic values into self-management practices provides a sustainable pathway for improving teachers’ self-efficacy and performance, offering important theoretical and practical implications for Islamic educational leadership and teacher development.
