Abstract

This research was conducted in February 2021 in the waters of Pandan Island, West Sumatra Province. This study aims to determine the relationship between coral cover and the density of megabenthos found in the Pandan Island area. The method used in this study is a survey method. Coral cover data was collected using the LIT (Line Intercept Transect) method and megabenthos data was collected using the Benthos Belt Transect method. The results showed that Pandan Island had a good percentage of coral cover. The highest density of megabenthos was trokha snails found at each station, while the lowest density was Acanthaster planci which was only found at three stations and had a percentage of coral cover that had an influence on megabenthos density. Then it was also found that there was a strong negative relationship between coral cover and non-economic megabenthos, which indicated that there was an effect of the percentage of coral cover on both economic and non-economical megabenthos.

Abstract

Based on toxicology viewpoint, heavy metals can be divided into 2 types. The first type is essential heavy metals, which is in a certain amount is needed by living organisms, but in excessive amounts can cause toxic effects, such as Zn, Cu, Fe, Co and Mn. The second type is non-essential, which is in the organism body is still not known the benefit of this heavy metals even it can be become a toxic in our body, such as Hg, Cd, Pb and Cr.The purpose of this research is to 1) analyzing the concentration of heavy metals Pb and Cu  on the tuna fish which is sold in the Dupa Market Pekanbaru, and 2)analyzing the content of heavy metals Pb and Cu on Tuna, whether it has exceeded or not the threshold of SNI 2009. The study has been conducted in June to July 2015 in Dupa Market Pekanbaru City. The method used in this study is a survey method. The result showed that heavy metals Pb and  Cu have the highest metal content are derived from Sibolga waters. The heavy metals content of  tuna in  Dupa Market of Pekanbaru were Pb of 1 – 3.98 ug/g and Cu of 0.22  - 0.93 ug/g,. The Safety limit consumption of tuna in Dupa Market Pekanbaru are Pb of 3.89 kg/week and Cu of 2456.76 kg/week. Based on this results showed the status for heavy metals of Pb and Cu on Tuna fish that sold at Dupa Market Pekanbaru is still safe and consumable.

Abstract

Air pollution gives a negative impact to human health due to pollutants released by motor vehicles. From the several kinds of pollutants generated, CO is one of the most pollutants released by motor vehicles. Lead can contaminate the environment and can poisoning the living organisms. Lead can cause various disorders to the body and also organs such as hematopoietic system, neurological, endocrine, renal, gastrointestinal, hematological, and reproduction. This study aims to analyze the comparison of the levels of lead (Pb) in fried foods sold on Jalan Sam Ratulangi with fried foods sold on the edge of Jalan Purwodadi, Pekanbaru City. This research is descriptive quantitative. Samples in the form of bakwan which were taken by one trader by using a total sampling of 6 samples. The sample will then be examined quantitatively to determine the level of lead in the sample using the atomic absorption spectrophotometric method. The results of the lead level examination will then be compared with the maximum limit of metal contamination according to the standards set by the Directorate General of Drug and Food Control No. 00.06.1.52.4011 Year 2009 to find out whether the fried foods sold in that location meet the Threshold Value (NAB), and compared using the SPSS t test. The results of the research after analysis using the t test, it is known that the p value is 0.216 when compared with a= 0.05, then p>a, so there is no significant difference between the fried foods sold on Jalan Sam Ratulangi and Purwodadi, Pekanbaru City, all samples exceed The threshold value set by the Regulation of the Director General of Drug and Food Control Number HK.00.06.1.52.4011 of 2009 is 0.25 mg/kg.

Abstract

Dumai City as an autonomous region has a strategic location with potential natural resources. With these conditions in the city of Dumai developing economic activities such as industrial estates, aquaculture, fisheries, transportation, tourism and other activities. On the other hand Dumai City also has a stretch of mangrove along the coast which is feared to experience problems due to these activities. This study aims to determine the economic value of mangrove ecosystems in Dumai City. The study, conducted in March 2019. The method used in this study is a survey method. The determination of sampling points was done by purposive sampling in 4 (four) stations: Station I (Bangsal Aceh), Station II (Muara Sungai Masjid Area), Station III (Muara Sungai Dumai), and Station IV (Tanjung Palas) Dumai City, Riau Province . The method used to estimate the economic value of resources is the Total Economic Value (TEV). WTP analysis with the Contingent Valuation Method (CVM) is likened to an approach to measure how much willing to pay. Direct use value such as the use of mangrove wood, mullet fish, shrimp, and mangrove crabs is Rp. 97,258,416,000.00 and indirect use values measured from the value of the construction of breakwaters and mangroves as nursery ground in the amount of Rp. 4,616,250,000.00. The choice of value measured from the amount of mangrove utilization as a recreation area is Rp. 1,836,000,000.00. The value of the existence and inheritance value calculated from the community's willingness to pay WTP (Willingnes To Pay) of Rp. 670,080,000.00 and Rp. 233,360,000.00, and non-use value of Rp. 893,440,000.00. So that the total economic value of mangrove forests in the coastal area of Dumai City per year is Rp. 104,604,106,000.00.
