Abstract

The people of Mekar Baru Village, who live along the banks of the Kapuas River, generally earn their living as farmers cultivating tilapia, goldfish and snakehead fish and tilapia. With the community's low level of education, this has an impact on their lack of understanding about the benefits of consuming fish and their lack of skills in processing fish which can increase the economic value or selling price of the cultivated fish commodity. This community service activity (PKM) aims to improve skills in processing floss and nuggets made from valuable fish meat, so that it can help the family's economy. The activity was attended by 20 activity participants consisting of housewives. This activity was divided into 2 activities, namely a scientific lecture about the benefits of fish and its various derivative preparations in improving family health and direct practice in making tilapia fish shreds and nuggets. The results of the evaluation of this PKM activity show an increase in participants' understanding regarding the benefits of consuming fish or its processed products, as well as improving skills in making shredded tilapia fish floss and nuggets.

Abstract

Compiling a list of references is often an obstacle in completing a scientific work, which then presents applications that can help with this problem. Mendeley software is one of the many applications that is very helpful in compiling a list of citations in a scientific work. It is a very popular application or software with millions of users in academic circles. The large number of students who do not know and understand this application has encouraged Mendeley application training activities for MSIB student participants at the Papua Central Statistics Agency. This activity aims to improve the ability of MSIB participating students in compiling a list of references or references in writing written work. The activity was attended by 28 students from various study programs from various universities throughout Indonesia. This training activity was carried out over 2 days and used lecture, discussion and practice methods. From the results of the activity evaluation through reviewing written work using the Mendeley application, it shows that all participants were able to write written works using the Mendeley application as a reference manager. On the first day the percentage of participants' ability when operating the application was only 36%, then after training on the second day the percentage increased to 100% or all participants were able to understand the use of the Mendeley application due to direct practice in using the application, thereby providing participants with an understanding of both theory, practice and discussions held during the training.

Abstract

The research aims to enhance marine literacy and raise awareness among high school students in Mempawah Regency about vital role of mangrove ecosystems in maintaining coastal environmental balance. Limited student understanding has contributed to low participation in conservation efforts. A participatory educational approach was implemented through material presentation, interactive discussion, and marine equipment demonstrations. Questionnaire results indicated that over 90% of participants reported an increased understanding, with most expressing motivation to engage in mangrove conservation activities. These findings highlight the effectiveness of participatory methods in fostering marine literacy and environmental awareness. The program’s success is expected to serve as a sustainable model for environmental education in schools and can be expanded to promote ecological consciousness at the community level.
