Abstract

The prevalence of anemia among adolescent girls in Indonesia remains high, reaching 84.6%, with Lampung Province having the highest prevalence in Sumatra at 63%. The government's iron supplementation program has not yet reached its target, reaching only 81.16% of the 95% target. A pre-survey at Baitul Jannah Islamic High School (SMA IT) showed that 66.6% of female students are anemic. This study aims to determine factors associated with anemia prevention in adolescent girls at the school by 2025. This study used a quantitative method with a cross-sectional design conducted at SMA IT Baitul Jannah Bandar Lampung from October 2024 to July 2025. The population consisted of 94 female students in grades X and XI, with a sample of 84 students determined using the Slovin formula and purposive sampling technique. Independent variables included knowledge, attitudes, and family support, while the dependent variable was anemia prevention efforts. Data were collected through questionnaires that had been tested for validity and reliability, then analyzed univariately and bivariately using the chi-square test. The results of the study revealed no relationship between knowledge (p-value = 0.192), attitude (p-value = 0.694), and family support (p-value = 0.041 and OR = 3.750) with anemia prevention efforts in adolescent girls. Schools can conduct routine education about anemia by inviting health workers to students, teachers, parents, and school officials with interesting media.

Abstract

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is a disease caused by the dengue virus, transmitted through the Aedes mosquito vector, which breeds in water containers that collect rainwater. The rainy season is the period when DHF cases occur most frequently. In Pesawaran Regency, the prevalence of DHF declined in 2023 compared to the previous year, with 149 cases reported in 2023, down from 432 cases in 2022. However, data from the Pesawaran District Health Office in 2024 indicated an increase to 252 DHF cases. This rising trend warrants serious attention to understand the contributing factors behind the increase in DHF cases in Pesawaran. This study aims to analyze the management of DHF control at the Roworejo Public Health Center in Pesawaran Regency. This is a qualitative study involving six informants, using in-depth interviews as the primary data collection method. The findings reveal that DHF control planning at the Roworejo Public Health Center has been systematically designed in accordance with existing guidelines, covering aspects such as budgeting, methods, facilities, and community participation. However, shortcomings remain in the provision of incentives for health cadres and the maintenance of facilities. The organizational structure operates based on a task-based and function-oriented (tupoksi) approach. All DHF control measures, including fogging, vector control (PSN), health education, and epidemiological investigations, have been implemented in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures. Supervision of DHF control efforts is considered adequate from both management and field implementation perspectives.

Abstract

Hypertension is now a health problem that is not only experienced by the elderly, but also by adolescents who are at risk of experiencing high blood pressure due to bad habits and unhealthy lifestyles. The prevalnce of hypertension in Lampung Province is 15,10 % of the 6,216,638 population aged 15 years and over. The high cases of hypertension in adolescensts today are caused by one of the low knowledge and attitudes about the risk factors for hypertension. It is necessary to in increase adolescent knowledge and attitudes thourgh poster media with the think pair share method, which is not yet known how effective this method is in increasing knowledge and attitudes in adolescent student. The purpose of this study was to determine the differences in knowledge and attitudes towards preventing hypertension in adolescents through poster media with the think pair share method at SMA IT Baitul Jannah Bandar Lampung in 2025. This study used a quantitative research design with a quasi experimental approach. The population of the study was from grades 10 and 11, namely 185 students. The sampling technique wa proposional simple random sampling. Data collection techniques through questionnaire sheets. Data analysis used unvariate (frequency distribution) and bivariate (wilcoxon). The results showed that there were differences in knowledge (p-value = 0,001) and attitude (p-value = 0,001) ) and attitude (p-value = 0,001) with poster media and the think pair share  method. It is expected that schools will use posters with the think pair share method when providing hypertension counseling materials.

Abstract

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) remains a significant public health problem in tropical regions, including Indonesia and Malaysia. Population mobility, environmental changes, and limited community participation in vector control contribute to the persistence of dengue transmission. This community service activity was conducted in Hajimena Village, South Lampung Regency, on October 30, 2025, as a promotive and preventive effort in community-based dengue prevention. The program aimed to improve community understanding and awareness of dengue prevention through integrated health education and the utilization of ovitraps as a simple and environmentally friendly appropriate technology. The activity was implemented through collaboration between the Faculty of Health Sciences, Universitas Malahayati, and Universiti Putra Malaysia using a participatory education approach, interactive discussions, and hands-on practice in making and installing ovitraps. The evaluation was conducted using a qualitative descriptive approach through participatory observation, group discussions, and participant feedback. The results indicated an improvement in participants’ understanding of dengue, the life cycle of Aedes aegypti mosquitoes, and the importance of environmental-based vector control. Participants also demonstrated interest and readiness to independently apply ovitraps in their residential environments. This activity highlights that cross- institutional and cross-national collaboration can strengthen promotive and preventive efforts in community-based dengue control.
