Abstract

Introduction:Hysterectomy is the most common major surgical procedure in gynecology. Approximately 90% of hysterectomies are performed on indications of benign gynecological disease. The number of women affected by hysterectomy is relatively low, but the impact of these complications often changes the quality of life. There are several types of hysterectomy, from partial/supravaginal, complete/total, to radical. Hysterectomy with any surgical technique can cause complications. This can be minimized by careful surgical planning and preparation before surgeryAssessing changes in quality of life after surgery is important for patient decision making and for health care evaluation, as health care becomes more standardized. Objective: This study aims to determine the difference in quality of life between women who have undergone abdominal hysterectomy surgery and women who have undergone vaginal hysterectomy surgery. Methods: This research is an analytic observational study with a cross sectional comparative study approach which was conducted on 54 women who had undergone hysterectomy at Dr. RSUP. M. Djamil, Padang. 27 of them underwent abdominal hysterectomy, and 27 others underwent vaginal hysterectomy. All patients were interviewed using the Short Form-36 (SF-36) questionnaire. The assessment is carried out with a scoring system where a score of 0 is the lowest value, and 100 is the highest value. Results: The average quality of life of the woman's post abdominal and vaginal hysterectomy was 91.71 ± 6.73 and 99.07 ± 1.66 respectively. There is a difference in the mean value of quality of life of women and post abdominal and vaginal hysterectomy (p<0.05).Conclusion: There was a significant difference between the quality of life of women after hysterectomy, where women who underwent vaginal hysterectomy had a higher quality of life than women who underwent abdominal hysterectomyKeywords: Hysterectomy, Abdominal, Vaginal, Quality of life

Abstract

Background:  Preeclampsia (PE) is the leading cause of maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality. The disease is characterized by hypertension (≥140/90 mmHg), proteinuria, thrombocytopenia, renal failure, neurological complications, liver involvement, and fetal growth retardation. HELLP syndrome is a variant of preeclampsia that causes an increase in liver enzymes and a low platelet count. Eclampsia is the heaviest complication of preeclampsia. Neutrophil lymphocyte ratio (NLR) is part of the leukocyte type count examination which is an easy, available examination parameter and can be used as an index of the severity of systemic inflammation. This study aimed to determine the relationship of neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) values with severe Preeclampsia, HELLP syndrome, and eclampsia. Method: This research is a comparative analytical study with a case control study approach. This research was conducted from April-November 2022. This study was conducted at the emergency room (ER) and inpatient department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Andalas – RSUP Dr. M. Djamil Padang. The study sample was part of the population that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The study required 108 samples, namely 27 from the severe preeclampsia group, 27 from the eclampsia group, 27 from the HELLP syndrome group, and 27 from the control group. Bivariate statistical analysis using Independent T-Test. Samples were taken by the method of consecutive sampling. The data were analyzed at a 95% confidence interval, if obtained p value<0.05 then there is a significant relationship. The Data was analyzed by the SPSS computer program. Results: The results of this study obtained neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio in eclampsia has the highest average value compared with HELLP syndrome, severe preeclampsia, and control. While HELLP syndrome has a higher mean value than severe preeclampsia and control and subsequently severe preeclampsia also has a higher mean value NLR than control. This study found a significant relationship between neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) with severe Preeclampsia, HELLP syndrome, and eclampsia (all p values=0.000). Conclusion: This study proves that neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) has a significant relationship with severe Preeclampsia, HELLP syndrome, and eclampsia so further research can develop this study by analyzing other factors that affect preeclampsia. For clinicians can make this study as a reference in monitoring the progression of inflammation that occurs in severe preeclampsia, HELLP syndrome, and eclampsia.

Abstract

Foreign body in the ear is an emergency case in the field of ENT-KL which is often found in the emergency room. Foreign objects found can be insects, seeds, cotton buds, batteries, and others. Foreign objects in the form of insects can cause irritation so that the patient will feel pain. Therefore, for live foreign objects, first aid efforts are needed in the form of dropping edible oil into the ear so that the live foreign objects die and then immediately take them to the nearest health facility. The purpose of this study was to determine the characteristics of cases of foreign bodies in the ear at the emergency department of Dr. M. Djamil Padang for the period 2017 – 2021. This type of research is a retrospective descriptive with a total sampling technique and uses secondary data. Samples that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria were 707 cases. The results of this study showed that the most characteristic distribution of foreign body cases in the ear was: the age group of children (43.4%), male sex (59.3%), types of inorganic foreign bodies (66.2%) with objects foreigncotton bud (49.2%), no symptoms (78.3%), no first aid efforts (86.2%), treatment with extraction (70.2%), and no complications (86%). The conclusion of this study is that the most foreign bodies found in the ear are cotton buds, so education is needed to the public about the use of cotton buds.

Abstract

Background: Regardless of social background, brownies are popular snack among people of all ages, including adults and children. The goal of developing brownies with modified banana flour is to lessen reliance on wheat flour and provide a gluten-free, healthier substitute. More inventive product creation is required because of disparity in sensory qualities of brownie items that are currently on the market. Since starch makes up majority of banana flour, modifying the starch can help to improve the flour's quality. Physical modification is one technique that can be applied to enhance the quality and functionality of banana flour in brownie recipes. Objectives: To determine the sensory properties and nutritional content of brownies with modified banana flour (Musa paradisiaca) substitution. Methods: The research design used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 5 treatments (K=5), 1 experimental unit and 3 repetitions. Abstract

Proper nutrition is essential for adolescents to ensure they grow and develop to their full potential. When adolescents don't get enough to eat, it may affect their health and nutritional condition, and those effects can last into adulthood. Teens enrolled in SMKN 1 Penawartama, a public school in Tulang Bawang Regency, Lampung Province, will have their dietary habits, levels of physical activity, nutritional knowledge, and attitudes studied. In order to get nutritional status data, body mass index (BMI) calculations were performed. Two 24-hour food recall questionnaires were used to measure students' dietary consumption, and another set of questionnaires was used to measure their physical activity, nutritional knowledge, and attitudes. Using Fisher's Exact Test, we examined the data to find out how dietary consumption, exercise, nutritional awareness, and attitudes affected nutritional status. Although they have a strong understanding of nutrition and a positive mindset, the majority of students do not get enough exercise and eat poorly. The bivariate analysis did not uncover any correlation between the students' nutritional status and their carbohydrate, protein, fat, physical activity, knowledge, or attitude intakes (p = 0.572, p = 0.645, p = 109, p = 0.649, respectively). The results of this study did not find any significant association in the variables analyzed, so further research is recommended to assess what factors are related to the nutritional status of adolescents with more respondents in various different school environments to see a broader picture of nutrition in adolescents.
