Abstract

The National Examination in Indonesia, which began in 2015, was no longer a determinant of student graduation at the end of the education level. Utilization of the examination results will affect the seriousness of the students in working on it. This study aims to describe the level of seriousness of 12th grade students in working on National   Examinations, when it no longer a determinant of graduation by examining teachers and school principals’ point of view. This research is a qualitative study by using the phenomenology approach. Data was collected using focus group discussions (FGD) conducted 3 times in 3 provinces in Indonesia, consisted of Yogyakarta, South Kalimantan and East Nusa Tenggara. FGD participants were 9 high school principals, 9 vice principal of curriculum, and 54 teachers who teach subjects that are tested on national exam. In each province, three schools were selected, consisted of   two public schools, and one private school. Data were analyzed using data reduction stages, to find relationships between themes, and verification. The results showed that the motivation of 12th grade students in preparing National Examination were reduced.  They no longer focused on preparing the exams, otherwise they preparing themselves for higher education.  Furthermore, students tended to select subjects that were easier and the teacher should motivate students harder to prepare for the National Examination.

Abstract

The impact of the Covid-19 pandemic has spread almost throughout the world. It makes all educational institutions in Indonesia experienced a lockdown in an undetermined time. As a result, teachers must switch to online teaching methods, while students must adapt to the online learning environment in a short time. Vocational education emphasizes not only the mastery of knowledge but also skills. In the learning process, students' perceptions can be used as evaluations to improve the quality of learning. This study aimed to provide an overview of students' perceptions of Mechanical Engineering Education on online learning as a result of the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. This study used survey methods and data collection in the form of instruments with a Likert scale with a sample of 56 students. The results of this study indicate that teachers in managing online learning are not in line with student expectations. Students feel that online learning has not provided better experience and productivity in mastering competencies, but can provide motivation and ease in their learning. Some students stated that they had the ease of access to resources, but students were still reluctant to use it sustainably in the future.

Abstract

Abstract

The research aims to evaluate industrial job training in terms of: context, input, process, and product. This research model used the CIPP model with a quantitative descriptive approach. Data was collected on research respondents from vice principal for industrial relations, 18 teachers, 18 BS/BI from Buol Regency, Tolitoli Regency, Gorontalo Province and 110 students using questionnaire, observations, interviews, and documentations. The results of the study show in terms of: (1) context where the results of data analysis are in the appropriate category, but the achievement of the objectives of apprenticeship is less than optimal, namely providing increased competence to students to become quality workforce and having professional expertise. Planning, drafting, not paying attention to the condition of the school's ability in terms of learning, in synchronizing competencies that do not involve BS / IS elements, and the development of cooperation between industrial and labor through the MoU have not been well realized; (2) input where the results of data analysis are in a very suitable category, but the lack of industry in designing debriefing is an obstacle. Still needing the readiness of participants in terms of competencies where the obstacles faced are more about mastery of competence and lack of work readiness so that maximizing the time and material of debriefing is very necessary; (3) the process where the results of data analysis are in the appropriate category, but the lack of maximum role and responsibility of the supervisor causes communication of the development of students' competencies less monitored; (4) product where the results of data analysis are in a very appropriate category, it is shown by the changes that occur by students in terms of attitudes, responsibilities and increased competence.
