Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a non-communicable disease with high morbidity and mortality. Lifestyle and knowledge are crucial factors in the handling and prevention of DM, but public awareness to obtain information is still low. This activity was carried out to increase public awareness in obtaining information and providing education related to DM. Preparation for the activity was carried out from 21 November 2022 and the core activities were in the form of outreach and health checks as a DM screening and were carried out on 24 November 2022. The main target for this activity were residents who had a family history of suffering from DM and risk factors such as obesity and hypertension. From this activity it was found that 90% had high blood pressure and 2 of them had fasting blood sugar levels above 300 mg/dL. In addition, it is known that public awareness to obtain information is still lacking.

Abstract

Compiling scientific papers is one of the efforts that can be made by lecturers in developing their professional competence. By writing scientific papers, a lecturer can develop his writing skills, and develop himself to be able to integrate ideas and present them in a structured manner. This activity was carried out to increase lecturer awareness in writing scientific papers and provide education related to writing scientific articles. Preparation for the activity was carried out on August 28 2021 and the core activity was in the form of a coaching clinic for writing scientific articles and was carried out on September 4, 2021. The main target for this activity is young lecturers who have little experience writing articles. The implementation of this service uses coaching clinics, discussions, and assistance. The results of this dedication show an increase in the ability or skills of lecturers and their understanding of writing scientific articles.

Abstract

Traditional medicines have been an integral part of the cultural heritage and health systems of various societies around the world. To promote the use of traditional medicine and understand it more deeply, the dissemination of traditional medicine products is a crucial step. The purpose of this service is to explore the importance of the dissemination of traditional medicinal products and their benefits to the community.  The main target of this activity were people who have a history of chronic disease. In addition, public awareness to obtain information related to traditional medicine products was still lacking. The method of implementing this service activity was carried out by providing direct education related to traditional medicine to the community. As a result of the service, 19 traditional medicine products were disseminated and increased public awareness about traditional medicine. This result implies that the use of traditional medicine should be widely encouraged to a larger community.

Abstract

Writing a research proposal is a crucial first step in determining the success of your research project. However, authors often face challenges in formulating proposals that are clear, relevant, and persuasive. The purpose of this service is to help researchers, especially young researchers in making research proposals. The method of implementing this service uses a Coaching Clinic, discussion, and mentoring which is carried out in a hybrid manner with pre-test and post-test.  Participants in this Coaching Clinic were young lecturers from Politeknik Medica Farma Husada Mataram and several other universities who participated online. There were 20 participants and it was held online through a Zoom meeting on December 16, 2023. The main target of this activity is young lecturers who have minimal experience writing research proposals. The results of this service show an increase in lecturers' abilities or skills and understanding in writing research proposals by 84.50%. Coaching clinics can improve the ability of lecturers to write research proposals.
