Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the Poetry Album as a learning medium for teaching poetry writing to eighth-grade students in Cilacap Regency, Indonesia. Utilizing a qualitative exploratory approach, the research was conducted in three public junior high schools, involving 192 students and three Indonesian language teachers. Data were collected through participatory observations, semi-structured interviews, and documentation of students' works, and were analyzed using Miles and Huberman's interactive analysis model. The results indicate that 96-98% of students enjoyed using this media, and the average scores of students' poetry ranged from 82 to 88. These findings suggest that the Poetry Album can enhance students' motivation, emotional engagement, and poetry writing skills. Furthermore, this media has proven effective in enriching the learning process aesthetically and creatively, in line with Rosenblatt's (1995) aesthetic response theory and Vygotsky's (1978) constructivist theory. Thus, the Poetry Album is relevant for aesthetic-based literary learning in secondary schools.

Abstract

The effectiveness of the Windows Shopping strategy in enhancing the speech writing abilities of eighth-grade students at four government junior high schools in Cilacap Regency, Indonesia, is examined in this study. The study is based on the demand for novel instructional methods that assist students with the challenges of arranging thoughts, choosing the right vocabulary, and creating well-written sentences while writing speeches. The study used a mixed methods approach with an explanatory sequential design, consisting of pretests and posttests administered to 128 pupils, along with qualitative data from observations, interviews, and reflections. With average scores rising from 61. 63 (pretest) to 81. 97 (posttest), the results showed a notable improvement in students' performance. The statistical significance was confirmed by a paired sample t-test (t = 11. 52, p = 9. 83 × 10⁻¹³). Qualitative data also showed that students were more engaged, creative, and confident during group learning sessions. The Windows Shopping method, in accordance with social constructivist learning principles, encouraged students to actively explore, present, and reconstruct information through group interaction. This approach, according to the study, is effective in improving students' speech writing abilities and promoting essential 21st century skills such as creativity, collaboration, and communication. It should be used more widely in other text-based language instruction as well.

In this research the author tries to examine the three suluk titles in everyday life. With social problems becoming more numerous and complicated, this research will relate them to existing social realities and will be linked to the values that exist in Javanese suluk. In this research, we will discuss the moral values of Suluk which are adopted from a literary sociology approach to analyze the moral values contained in Javanese Suluk poetry, especially in two poems entitled “Serate Siswa”, “Introspection” and “Ojo Dumeh” . The focus of this research is on religious, social moral values and human interaction with God as reflected in these literary works. This research uses qualitative methods with descriptive analysis techniques to describe and explore information related to the moral values in the two poems. The results of research on the three titles of Syair Suluk Jawa show that the poem “Serate Disciple” emphasizes the importance of manners, simplicity, and respect for others, by describing the relationship between students and teachers as a reflection of the relationship between humans and God. On the other hand, the poems, “Introspection” and “Ojo Dumeh” highlight the wisdom in looking at age and death, reminding people to continue to worship selflessly, and live life humbly. In conclusion, Suluk Javanese poetry, through sociological analysis of literature, is able to convey a deep moral message regarding human relationships with God and others. This research contributes to the understanding of the moral values contained in Javanese literary works, as well as maintaining and introducing the uniqueness of Javanese culture to society.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the dynamics of inner conflict and the search for meaning in life experienced by the character Jaka in the novel Wuni through a humanistic psychology approach. Inner conflict in the novel functions not merely as a narrative aesthetic element, but also as a representation of the character’s existential struggle in confronting social pressures, past trauma, and inherited cultural and spiritual values. This research employs a qualitative descriptive method using content analysis techniques applied to the novel text. The data consist of narrative units containing inner conflict and the search for meaning in life, which are systematically coded to enhance analytical validity. The findings indicate that Jaka’s inner conflict is closely related to his inability to fulfill fundamental psychological needs, such as safety, social acceptance, and self-esteem. These conflicts subsequently drive the character into a process of searching for meaning through inner reflection, spiritual experiences, and confrontation with ancestral heritage. This process ultimately leads Jaka toward self-acceptance and self-actualization, as conceptualized in humanistic psychological theory. The findings affirm that Wuni represents literature as a medium of human reflection that integrates psychological, cultural, and spiritual dimensions. This study is expected to enrich literary studies grounded in humanistic psychology and contribute to literature education oriented toward the development of humanistic values.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the representation of ecological crises, human relations with nature, as well as environmental ethics and human responsibility towards nature in the novel Api Awan Asap by Korrie Layun Rampan. This research uses a qualitative paradigm with a descriptive-interpretive approach through the hermeneutic method to interpret the deepest meaning behind the literary text. The source of data for this research is the novel Api Awan Asap by Korrie Layun Rampan published by Gramedia Widiasarana Indonesia in 2015. The research data is in the form of words, sentences, and discourses contained in the novel Api Awan Asap which represents the ecological crisis and human responsibility towards nature. The results of the study show that this novel represents an ecological crisis through the depiction of exploitative activities such as deforestation, land burning, and appropriation of customary territories that result in air pollution, land degradation, and ecological disasters. The relationship between humans and nature is depicted through the practice of local wisdom of indigenous peoples who live in harmony with the environment and use nature wisely. The moral principles of the environment and human obligations to nature are manifested through a value system that respects nature, tradition-based forest management, and educational and humanitarian approaches in an effort to prevent environmental damage. From the findings, it can be concluded that literary works function as instruments in building ecological awareness and motivating responsible human actions towards nature conservation.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the representation of existentialist feminism Simone de Beauvoir in a collection of digital short stories by Rintik Sedu published through the Rintiksedu.com website. This research uses a qualitative paradigm with a hermeneutic approach to interpret the meaning of literary texts. The source of the research data is six digital short stories by Rintik Sedu, namely No Answer is the Answer, Our Parts, Dialogue at that time, Limits, Between Us Pt.1&2, and I Write This Because I Am Afraid of Forgetting. The research data is in the form of words, sentences, and discourses that represent the existence of women and efforts to achieve existential freedom. The results of the study show that the existence of women in these short stories is represented through three categories: existence based on nature that describes the social construction of women's patience and sacrifice; existence based on history that shows the awareness of female figures to break the inheritance of previous generations' habits; and existence based on myths that question romantic and patriarchal stereotypes in interpersonal relationships. Women's efforts to achieve authentic existence are manifested through two strategies: rejecting the position of the "other" by affirming agency and personal freedom, and strategically accepting social expectations to gain space to move within patriarchal structures. This study concludes that digital literary works can serve as an important medium in representing women's struggle to achieve existential freedom and dismantling the social constructs that limit their authentic existence.
