Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui strategi dan kendala kepala madrasah dalam penerapan program pembentukan karakter Islami peserta didik. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif. Penelitian ini melibatkan kepala sekolah, wakil kepala sekolah, dan guru. Metode pengumpulan data melalui wawancara, observasi, dan analisis dokumentasi Hasil studi menunjukkan bahwa: (1) program madrasah yang dirumuskan untuk meningkatkan mutu madrasah tertuang dalam program pembiasaan yang diterapkan secara kontinyu dan tersturktur; (2) Kegiatan islami yang dilaksanakan dalam rangka membentuk karakter islami yaitu budaya salam kepada guru, membaca surat pendek, bershalawat kepada nabi dan rasul, membaca doa sehari-hari, asmaul husna, praktek shalat, jum’at bersih, baca yasin di hari jum’at, caramah islami, memperingati hari besar Islam, shalat dhuha bersama, mengucapkan salam apabila bertemu guru dan teman, keteladanan guru, menghafal rukun islam dan mempraktikannya, berpakaian islami, berbicara sopan, dan membiasakan sedekah; (3) Karakter Islami yang diharapkan meliputi Saling menghargai, disiplin, menjadi teladan, cinta lingkungan, tanggung jawab, gemar membaca, kreatif, berakhlak mulia, menghormati orang tua, guru dan sesama, toleransi, bekerja keras, kreatif, mandiri, demokratis, rasa ingin tahu, semangat kebangsaan, cinta tanah air, komunikatif, cinta damai, gemar menbaca, peduli lingkungan, peduli sosial, beriman dan bertakwa kepada Allah SWT; (4) Faktor penghambat dari pelaksanaan strategi kepala madrasah ini adalah kurangnya kepedulian orang tua, kurangnya disiplin bagi sebagian siswa yang tidak menerapkan pembiasaan tersebut di rumah, kurangnya sarana dan prasarana, latar belakang peserta didik, perkembangan tekhnologi dan perubahan kurikulum.

Abstract

Integrating AI in education has transformed English language learning by offering personalized, adaptive, and interactive learning experiences. However, challenges such as technological accessibility, pedagogical integration, and maintaining human-centered learning approaches remain underexplored. This study aims to systematically review recent research on the use of AI-based adaptive platforms in ELL, focusing on their utilization, effectiveness, and overall impact. Employing the Systematic Literature Review method, 13 relevant studies published between 2020 and 2024 were analyzed using a structured protocol involving keyword identification, database selection, and strict inclusion-exclusion criteria. The findings reveal that AI technologies, such as chatbots, mobile applications, adaptive learning platforms, and virtual tutors, have significantly enhanced learners' language skills, engagement, motivation, and confidence. Challenges such as over-reliance on AI, critical thinking development, and digital inequalities were noted despite the benefits. The study implies that for AI to sustainably and effectively support ELL, balanced integration with human instruction, adequate technological infrastructure, and teacher training are essential. These insights offer valuable guidance for educators, policymakers, and technology developers in designing more inclusive, adaptive, and human-centered AI solutions for English education.

Abstract

This study aims to map the direction, trends, and scientific contributions of the publications of lecturers of the English Tadris Study Program of STAIN Mandailing Natal in the 2020-2025 time span using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. A total of 94 articles written by active lecturers that met the inclusion criteria were reviewed thematically and methodologically. The analysis showed that the most dominant topics were English language teaching (EFL/ELT), the use of media and technology in learning, and the development of contextual teaching materials based on local and Islamic values. The research also highlighted contributions in sociolinguistics, pragmatics, psycholinguistics, and community service. The most widely used research methods are experiments and descriptive qualitative studies. In addition, there is a positive trend in the use of SLR and bibliometrics, which reflects the increasing methodological literacy of lecturers. These findings reflect the dynamics of research that is adaptive to technological developments, oriented towards pedagogical innovation, and rooted in local values. This study makes a strategic contribution to the development of a research roadmap and the improvement of academic quality in Islamic higher education.

Abstract

The study of language kinship is a fundamental aspect of historical linguistics that aims to understand the genealogical relationships between existing languages. This study focuses on the Mandailing language, one of the regional languages in Indonesia that is included in the Austronesian family, to map existing literature on the kinship of the Mandailing language through a systematic literature review approach. The research method involves data analysis from databases such as Semantic Scholar and Google Scholar, with the inclusion criteria of articles published between 2015 and 2025 in Indonesian or English and discussing topics related to the Mandailing language and language kinship. The study results show that the Mandailing language is closely linked with other Batak languages, such as Toba Batak, Angkola, and Karo, and has deep Austronesian roots. This study reveals that although the Mandailing language has undergone significant phonological and morphological changes, it still maintains its characteristics as part of the Austronesian language family. In addition, this study also identifies the influence of Malay on Mandailing and the importance of this language in shaping the cultural identity of the Mandailing people. The conclusion of this study emphasizes the importance of efforts to preserve and document the Mandailing language to ensure its sustainability in the future. This systematic review of the literature provides a comprehensive overview of the research map related to the kinship of the Mandailing language and makes a real contribution to understanding the dynamics of language in Indonesia. This study also opens up opportunities for further studies, especially in sociolinguistic and interdisciplinary aspects, to reveal these linguistic findings' historical and anthropological significance.

Abstract

Using bibliometric methods allows a quantitative understanding of the growth of TELL, and analysis of topic trends provides insight into the evolution of research interests, including significant growth in topics such as "Deep Learning". Using the Scopus database, a search query was developed to limit the study to articles published in the last 10 years, from 2014 to 2023. Results show consistent growth in TELL research, peaking in 2022 with 88 publications. Analysis of publication distribution identified a global contribution, with the United States as the main contributor, followed by China and the Russian Federation. Dominant keywords, such as “Language Learning,” “Engineering Education,” and “Students,” highlight the primary focus of research on enhancing the language learning experience through technology. The relationships between findings highlight how developments in one area of research often trigger changes in other areas, creating a dynamic and interconnected learning ecosystem. In conclusion, this research confirms that TELL is a field that continues to develop, demonstrating the importance of technology integration in language learning, especially the use of mobile technology.

Abstract

In the digitalization era, language strategy has become an important part of tourism brands to enhance a destination's appeal and image. This study examines the language on the Mandailing Natal Regency Tourism Office Website (https://pariwisata.madina.go.id/), which is used for tourism branding. The research method used is qualitative descriptive analysis with a critical text analysis approach, including data collection from website content. The study results indicate that the language used on this website has several shortcomings, such as less attractive narratives, inconsistent language style, a lack of emphasis on local identity, and a suboptimal information structure. In addition, the visual elements on the website are not supported by relevant narratives. This means that the potential of Mandailing Natal Regency tourism branding has not been fully utilized using a language strategy. They could do a better job with language style consistency, local feeling emphasis, and findability elements. The findings of this study offer strategic recommendations for improving website quality and advancing tourism communication strategies.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the structure and access of the mental lexicon in human memory through the psycholinguistic approach. The current study utilizes the qualitative descriptive approach by conducting a systematic literature review. The result shows that the access of the lexical knowledge is not constant, considering the frequency of the word, the contextual cue, and the meaning relationship, because it affects the language comprehension and production. The result also shows that the mental lexicon is hierarchically organized for effective lexical retrieval when people use language. This article concludes that the knowledge of the structure and the access of the mental lexicon is very significant for language acquisition processes and for the analysis of language disorders, including aphasia and dyslexia.

Abstract

The rapid development of Artificial Intelligence (AI), particularly Natural Language Processing (NLP), has brought together two fundamental disciplines: Psycholinguistics and Computer Science. This research seeks to bridge the theoretical gap between how the human brain processes and generates language (psycholinguistics) and how machines model and replicate these processes (AI). This research employed a comparative-analytical literature review. Data was collected from leading academic journals focused on AI language models (such as Transformer and Large Language Models/LLMs) and theories of human language processing (such as Serial Processing and Connectionist Models). The analysis focused on three main dimensions: lexicon acquisition, syntactic processing, and pragmatic understanding. It was found that while modern AI excels at predicting word order and syntactic structure based on probability (like statistical approaches in cognition), it still falls short of fully replicating semantic processing tied to experience, awareness, and social context (a hallmark of human processing). Current AI models demonstrate impressive speeds in lexical inference but often fail at tasks requiring a theory of mind or a multi-layered understanding of pragmatics. Integrating psycholinguistic principles into AI architectures holds great potential for developing systems that are not only efficient but also more natural and human-like in their interactions. Further research is needed to build AI models that reflect the complex bottom-up and top-down processes in the human brain.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengkaji hubungan triadik antara bahasa, pikiran, dan otak melalui analisis psikolinguistik dalam konteks pendidikan bahasa, menggunakan pendekatan kajian literatur kualitatif sistematis terhadap sumber-sumber ilmiah periode 2010–2025 dari jurnal terakreditasi, buku rujukan, dan prosiding. Temuan teoretis mengonfirmasi relasi timbal balik di mana bahasa berfungsi sebagai jembatan simbolik antara representasi neurologis (area Broca untuk produksi, Wernicke untuk pemahaman, serta fasciculus arcuate) dengan proses kognitif (memori kerja, perhatian selektif, fungsi eksekutif), sementara hipotesis Sapir-Whorf moderat menunjukkan pengaruh bahasa terhadap kategorisasi pengalaman tanpa menentukan pikiran sepenuhnya. Secara neurolinguistik, plastisitas otak terbukti melalui perubahan struktur materi abu-abu dan konektivitas pada pembelajar bilingual, mendukung strategi pembelajaran seperti input dapat dipahami (i+1), chunking untuk mengelola beban kognitif, scaffolding transisi receptive-productive, serta pengulangan tersebar untuk konsolidasi memori jangka panjang. Sintesis menghasilkan Triadic Language Processing Model yang mengintegrasikan tiga lapisan (neurologis, kognitif, bahasa) dengan Neuro-Pedagogical Cycle (exposure-processing-production-consolidation), memberikan landasan empiris bagi task-based language teaching (TBLT), transfer positif antarbahasa, dan teknologi adaptif di kelas Indonesia. Implikasi pedagogis mencakup revisi kurikulum berbasis neurosains, pelatihan guru psikolinguistik, serta rekomendasi penelitian lanjutan seperti studi longitudinal neuroimaging untuk validasi model pada populasi multilingual lokal.

Abstract

The interaction between the Mandailing people and their natural environment is represented in the text Si Bulus-Bulus Si Rumbuk-Rumbuk (1872) by Willem Iskandar, which is examined in this work from an ecolinguistic standpoint. This research uses lexical and discourse analysis to find ecological terminology, metaphors, and tales that represent the Mandailing people's holistic worldview of the 19th Century, which views people, animals, and plants as interrelated. It was also discovered that the Si Bulus-Bulus Si Rumbuk-Rumbuk text had embedded local knowledge values and sustainable cultural practices, such as care for the environment and the proscription of overexploitation. By demonstrating that classic literary works may be a helpful source of ecological information, the study's results advance the field of ecolinguistics. Additionally, by incorporating conventional ecological knowledge into contemporary discourse, this study presents a fresh viewpoint for advancing environmental sustainability. This research affirms the significance of conserving regional languages and cultures to maintain ecological values in the face of global environmental issues by establishing a connection between the past and present.
