Abstract

Diagnosing severity of the stroke requires a NIHSS score which is a graded neurological examination. However, despite its successes, there are problems with the NIHSS. The scale contains items with poor reliability and has been criticized for its redundancy and complexity may not capture the full range of stroke severity, particularly in those with very mild or severe symptoms. Over the last 10 years, the evaluation of the NLR as an emerging marker of diseases has become a compelling field of bio-medical research. However, the value of NLR in predicting the poor prognosis of stroke patients is still controversial. Patients of stroke ischemic from July to December 2023 at Royal Prima Hospital were studied to analyze the correlation between NLR to severity of stroke regarding vascular territory. Our investigation reveals no correlation between those two variablesation between those two variables.

Abstract

Ovarian cancer is a serious disease that affects the ovaries, and its early detection is challenging due to vague symptoms often dismissed as minor ailments. Currently, natural sources have gained attention for their potential role in anticancer treatment. This study aimed to utilize network pharmacology to explore the potential targets and mechanisms of Zanthoxylum acanthopodium in the treatment of ovarian cancer. This study utilized the KNApSAcK and Swiss Target Prediction to identify active compounds and target genes. Additionally, ovarian cancer-specific target genes were sourced from the GEO database. To identify possible key target genes, the network interaction between protein-protein using the STRING database and visualized them in Cytoscape. Subsequent analysis using Gene Ontology (GO) and the Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathways enabled us to focus on primary therapeutic targets. Our investigation into Zanthoxylum acanthopodium revealed 10 active compounds that pass Lipinski rule of five and oral bioavailability with acceptable pharmacokinetic profiles, 88 therapeutic targets, and identified 5 hub genes: SRC, CCNB2, MMP9, PTGS2, and PTPRC, which are strongly associated with ovarian cancer progression. Pathway enrichment analysis highlighted several pathways significantly related to the pathogenesis of ovarian cancer. This study elucidates the therapeutic potential and mechanisms of action of Z. acanthopodium as a promising candidate for ovarian cancer treatment. However, further research, including both in vitro and in vivo studies, is necessary to understand its molecular mechanisms comprehensively.

Abstract

The global rise in diabetes mellitus (DM) among women of reproductive age poses significant challenges to achieving optimal exclusive breastfeeding (EBF) rates, especially in low- and middle-income countries such as Indonesia. This study aimed to examine the relationship between knowledge and experience of mothers with DM and their independence in providing EBF, addressing an urgent need for targeted intervention and policy support for this vulnerable population. An analytic observational study with a cross-sectional design was conducted at community health centers in Pekanbaru from June to November 2024, involving 98 breastfeeding mothers diagnosed with DM, recruited through convenience sampling. Structured questionnaires measured maternal knowledge, prior breastfeeding experience, and independence in EBF. The results showed that 57.1% of mothers had good knowledge and 53.1% had adequate breastfeeding experience, while 69.4% demonstrated independence in providing EBF. Bivariate analysis revealed significant relationships between knowledge and independence (p = 0.026) as well as experience and independence (p = 0.001). These findings underscore the importance of enhancing education and support for mothers with DM to improve EBF practices. It is recommended that healthcare policies and programs prioritize continuous, tailored education and counseling to empower mothers with DM and increase EBF coverage.
