Abstract

This community service aims to identify and enhance the awareness and understanding of students at SMKN 1 Meureubo regarding evacuation routes in the face of earthquake and tsunami threats. Meureubo, located on the west coast of Aceh, is in a high-risk zone for tsunamis, making comprehension of evacuation routes crucial to minimizing the risk of casualties. This outreach involves participatory methods including counseling, evacuation drills, questionnaire distribution, and the dissemination of educational materials on the steps to be taken during a disaster. The evacuation routes introduced consist of five routes. The results of this activity show a significant increase in students' knowledge and preparedness for emergency evacuation procedures. Regarding the ease of access to the provided evacuation routes, 44.4% of respondents agreed, while 48.5% disagreed due to the lack of evacuation signs leading to the designated assembly points. Therefore, it is hoped that this activity will continue and be disseminated to the entire community of West Aceh Regency, especially in Meureubo sub-district, so that it can serve as a model to be implemented in other schools in disaster-prone areas to enhance the safety and well-being of the community.

Abstract

This community service program aims to enhance the understanding of poultry traders in West Aceh regarding slaughter procedures in accordance with Islamic law (Sharia). The implementation methods include interactive educational workshops, socialization, and direct assistance to traders. The workshops discuss the importance of halal slaughter and Sharia-compliant business management, supported by expert speakers from the Department of Islamic Sharia. In addition to theoretical learning, traders are also involved in hands-on slaughtering practices to ensure proper implementation. Evaluation and monitoring are conducted to measure the traders' improved understanding, with a focus on the sustainability of the practices taught. This program has produced several important outcomes, such as increased trader knowledge, training certification, and additional facilities to support their businesses. The positive impact is felt not only by the traders but also by consumers who are more confident in the halal status of poultry products. Discussion sessions allow participants to share experiences and provide suggestions for further training, including the slaughtering of other animals such as goats and buffaloes. This program contributes to the improvement of Sharia-based business quality in West Aceh and strengthens consumer trust in products that meet halal standards. Support from various parties, including the government and the community, reinforces the success of this program.

Abstract

This study aims to reinterpret Propp’s narrative structure in children’s storybooks by positioning interrogative sentences as pedagogical discourse strategies and examining their implications for the development of children’s critical literacy. This study adopts a qualitative approach within a pedagogical discourse framework, drawing on Vladimir Propp’s model to identify narrative functions in the text. The results showed that Lomba Tebak Cepat and Bermain Teka-teki followed similar narrative patterns, repeating Propp’s functions ξ, M, and Pr eleven times. On the other hand, Buah Apa, ya? followed a different sequence—ξ – M – Pr – G – Q – N – I—with the M – Pr – G pattern appearing three times. The interrogative sentences in all three books were either total or partial and mainly informative, using the word “apa” and the Indonesian particle “-kah.” Repeating these questions helped shape new narrative patterns. Overall, Propp’s structure can be simplified as E – P – p1, p2, p3… – X – Y – R – E, showing how a mix of interrogatives and narrative functions makes these storybooks more engaging and interactive for children. The findings show that interrogative sentences function as pedagogical strategies that actively engage children in understanding the story. Through interrogative sentences, children are encouraged to think critically and use their reasoning to make sense of the text, thereby supporting their literacy development, especially in critical and reflective thinking.
