Abstract

Seaweed is a commodity that has high economic value and benefits. The implementation of seaweed cultivation is quite short and the export market opportunities are wide open because the need for seaweed is quite large. This study aims to determine the growth rate of seaweed with monoculture and polyculture cultivation systems and the survival rate of abalone in polyculture cultivation. The research used an experimental method with Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of two treatments and three replications. The cultivation system in this study was seaweed monoculture Eucheuma cottonii with an initial weight of 100 gr and 100gr seaweed polyculture with abalone Haliotis squamata, each polyculture culture net bag containing 50 abalones. The value of the specific growth rate of monoculture seaweed was 2.21%/day, lower than the specific growth rate of polyculture, which was 3.61%/day. T-test analysis showed the value of sig = 0.049 < = 0.05, which means that there is a significant difference between the treatment of monoculture cultivation and polyculture cultivation. The abalone growth rate value ranged from 0.78-0.91%/day and the abalone survival rate ranged from 68-76%. Changes in environmental conditions affect the condition of abalone and seaweed so that the survival value of abalone is quite low and seaweed is infected with an ice-ice disease which causes a decrease in seaweed weight gain in the final week of the study period.

Abstract

One of the nutrients that can be given to brood feed fish to improve reproductive performance and egg quality is vitamin E. Vitamin E has a very important role in increasing fish reproduction because vitamin E functions as an antioxidant that can maintain the presence of fatty acids and prevent fat oxidation in the fish cell membrane and can accelerate the secretion of reproductive hormones. This study aims to determine the effect of vitamin E in feed at different doses on the level of gonad maturity of tilapia. The research was conducted at the Fisheries Laboratory of the Faculty of Marine and Fisheries, Udayana University from July to August 2020. The samples of fish tested were tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) obtained from the Teratai fishing pond, Sanur Bali. Vitamin E used was Ovagrow Vit E with a vitamin E content of 50%. The CRD method (completely randomized design) was used with four treatments and three replications. The doses of vitamin E that were mixed into the feed were 0, 100, 300, and 500 mg/kg of feed. The results showed that the administration of vitamin E mixed in the feed at different doses had a significant effect on the achievement of gonad maturity level, gonad somatic index (GSI), and Fecundity (P <0.05). Provision of vitamin E at a dose of 300 mg/kg of feed was the best dose for ripening tilapia gonads. The gonad maturity level developed up to maturity stage IV, the GSI value was (3.56 ± 0.46) and the fecundity value was (1379 ± 289).

Abstract

Estuary ecosystem has an important role in supporting the life of shrimp. High productivity and the availability of natural food in the estuary ecosystem, will indirectly affect the growth of shrimp. Penaeus monodon and Penaeus merguiensis were two species of shrimp that had economic value with high demand. The purpose of this study was to determine the biological aspects of Penaeus monodon and Penaeus merguiensis shrimp at estuary of Tukad Aya, Bali. Data collection was carried out in February-March 2019 using quantitative descriptive research methods. The determination of the research station was done by purposive sampling. The results showed the total number of shrimps were caught 1,756 individuals, which consist of Penaeus monodon 151 individuals, Penaeus merguiensis 224 individuals and 1,325 individuals of other shrimp. The composition of Penaeus monodon (8.6%) was less than Penaeus merguiensis (12.76%). Shrimp length measurements were divided into 9 groups with a range of values of 55.15-189.95 mm in Penaeus monodon and 31.3-140.1 mm in Penaeus merguiensis. The results of the length and the weight regression in both species of shrimp obtained the value of b <3 so that the growth pattern of shrimp was categorized as negative allometric where length growth was faster than weight gain.

Abstract

Stocking density is an important factor in cultivation, it can save land use, and increase the efficiency of fish farming. The purpose of this research was to determine the different density information on tilapia seeds measuring 2-3 cm as an alternative to using tilapia (O. niloticus) seeds 7-9 cm in size so that they can be developed in Batur Lake. The research was conducted in January - March 2020 in the floating net cages in Trunyan Kintamani village, Bangli, Bali. The research used a completely randomized design method with three treatments and three repetitions. The Tilapia seeds used are 2-3 cm with different stocking densities, 100 ind/m3, 150 ind/m3, and 200 ind/m3. The parameters observed were SGR (Specific Growth Rate), absolute growth, SR (Survival Rate), FCR (Feed Conversion Ratio), and water quality including temperature, DO, pH, TDS. The results of this study indicated that stocking density did not have a significant effect on the growth and survival rate of tilapia seeds, because the temperature was too cold so that the tilapia seeds failed to adapt properly at the beginning of stocking and the physiological conditions of the fish were disturbed so that the fish experienced stress and went to died. Water quality parameters measured include temperature with a range value of 25.86-25.880C, pH with a range value of 9.08-9.13, DO (Dissolved oxygen) with a range value of 7.9-8 mg/L, and TDS (Dissolved solids) with a range value of 1040.25-1041.58 mg/L.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the feasibility of Landsat 7 ETM+ to identify coral reefs and shallow water benthic at Nusa Penida district in 2009 and 2012, comparison with the Reef Health Monitoring (RHM) results conducted by the Coral Triangle Center (CTC) using the Point Intercept Transect (PIT) method in the same periods. This study also aims to determine the changes of coral reefs and shallow water benthic cover during this period and the distribution at Nusa Penida districk. Shallow water benthic classification refers to English et al. (1997), with a modified by the addition of vegetation classes (seagrass and seaweed). The classification result using confusion matrix between the Reef Health Monitoring (RHM) with the classification of satellite image in 2009 obtained an accuracy rate of 65.85% with a kappa coefficient value of 0.525, while in 2012 the accuracy value obtained of 74.81% with kappa coefficient value of 0.650, which shows the results of that classification of satellite images of Landsat 7 ETM+ with the results of in-situ research is in a moderate level.
