Abstract

This research is motivated by the implementation of the 2013 curriculum as a whole not being implemented because the facilities and infrastructure are still inadequate, the teacher has not yet maximally carried out the learning assessment because the assessment method has not been shown to be comprehensive observations due to the large number of students, and the test questions have not yet arrived at HOTS achievements. The subjects used to test the practicality and effectiveness of the assessment for learning tools were 32 students in class X-1. This type of research is used in 4-D R&D models (Define, Design, Development & Disseminate). Data collection techniques were carried out using the check list method, focus discussion group (FGD), peer assessment sheets, self-assessment sheets, and description form tests.The results showed that, the validation results from experts on the HOTS-based assessment for learning developed were feasible to use with the results 1) the results of the RPP validation of 0.76; 2) the results of the validation of peer assessment sheets 0.906; 3) the results of the validation of the self-assessment sheet 0.875; 4) the results of the validation test sheet form description for the content of 0.824 and for languages of 0.903. Practicality test results show practical use, namely 1) the results of student answers to peer assessment sheets obtained an average value of 81.12 and the results of answers to the self-assessment sheet obtained an average value of 79.90, the results are included in the good category, 2) Results the answers to the test obtained an average value of 82.62, median value of 84.38, mode value of 93.75, and a standard deviation of 11.36. The highest value obtained was 96.88 and the lowest value obtained was 43.75. Based on the acquisition category the test score is a good category.

Abstract

Teachers who are less varied in teaching math can cause students to feel bored and saturated. The usual way teachers use is to memorize or remember the formula, so that burden the students' brains because the ability of each student is different in memorization. Based on the above background, this study aims to determine the extent to which the use of methods can improve the ability of arithmetic numeracy. The division of students in class III SD Negeri 195 Pagaran Baru Kecamatan Kotanopan. The type of research used is Classroom Action Research (PTK). The results showed that in the first cycle there was an increase in students' numeracy skills in the division of material from 47.36% or 9 students to 61.90% or 13 students with an increase of 14.54%. Results of reflection on the first cycle, the percentage of learning mastery less than 70% so that followed in cycle II. In the second cycle there was an increase of 73.68% or 14 students to 78.95% or 15 students with an increase of 5.26%. The results of reflection cycle II shows that with the use of the method of Jarimatika, the percentage of learning mastery has reached more than 70%, so there is an increase from cycle I to cycle II of 43.36%. Thus the use of the method of the finger can improve the ability to count The division of the students III SD Negeri 195 Pagaran Baru Kecamatan Kotanopan. Keywords: Jarimatic Method, Ability to Calculate Division.

Abstract

Penggunaan media gambar dalam pembelajaran matematika merupakan bagian komponen dari metode pengajaran yang merupakan upaya untuk memungkinkan proses belajar yang menggabungkan fakta dan ide-ide untuk menjelaskan materi dalam matematika. Dalam matematika, media gambar berfungsi memfasilitasi proses pembelajaran didasarkan pada keyakinan bahwa proses belajar dengan bantuan media gambar dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa untuk mencapai tujuan pembelajaran matematika. Dengan penggunaan media gambar diharapkan pengetahuan dan  pemahaman siswa tentang knsep-konsep matematika semakin baik dan dapat menumbuhkan minat dan motivasi bagi siswa untuk belajar matematika. Kata Kunci : Media Gambar, Pembelajaran Matematika

Abstract

The decline in the character of students today is due to the impact of the flow of globalization of information and technology such as no passion in learning, noisy when the teacher explains, low self-confidence, lack of sense of responsibility for the tasks given by the teacher, and tends to be passive so we need a new changes to implement character education in the mathematics learning process.This study aims to determine the implementation of character education in the mathematics learning process, to find out the obstacles to implementing character education in the mathematics learning process, and to find out strategies to overcome obstacles in implementing character education in the mathematics learning process in class X MAS Hajijah Amalia Sari Padangsidimpuan.This research is a qualitative research with the approach used is descriptive ethnography. The primary data sources were the mathematics teacher and class X student of MAS Hajijah Amalia Sari Padangsidimpuan. Data collection techniques are observation, interviews and documentation.The results showed that character education for students in class X MAS Hajijah Amalia Sari Padangsidimpuan had been applied in the mathematics learning process. Specific findings obtained are a lack of student motivation, lack of enthusiasm for learning, lack of infrastructure and lack of time discipline. The strategy in overcoming these obstacles is to familiarize students with applying character values, providing good examples, giving warnings, making conditioning such as posters or slogans that show character values and completing infrastructure facilities that can build character education values in the mathematics learning process.

Abstract

This study aims to improve students' mathematical reasoning on the subject matter of cubes and blocks through the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach. This is motivated by the low mathematical reasoning of students at the time of learning.This research is a type of Classroom Action Research using Kurt Lewin's model which consists of two cycles, each cycle consists of four steps, namely: planning, action, observation, and reflection. Data collection instruments used in the form of tests and observations. This research was conducted in class VIII3 of SMP Negeri 5 Padangsidimpuan in April 2019. The results of this study indicate that the action hypothesis is accepted. Mathematical reasoning ability of students showed an increase in the pre-cycle of students' mathematical reasoning completeness was 21.74% (5 people), in the first cycle of meetings 1 and 2 students' completeness was 47.83% (11 people) and 60.87% (14 people). In the second cycle of meetings 1 and 2, the students' completeness was 73.91% (17 people) and 86.95% (20 people). The percentage of mathematical reasoning completeness of the students above has reached 80% of the number of students, so this research is said to have been successful. For further researchers, it is hoped that they can use the results of this study as a study for conducting further research on the application of the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach to wider materials on cubes and blocks.

Abstract

The problem of cognitive abilities of students in class V MIN-6 East Aceh in the learning process is caused by the implementation of the learning being applied that does not show meaningfulness and students are not fully involved in solving math problems. The research objective is to improve the cognitive abilities of students through a problem-based learning model with a contextual approach to the volume of cubes and block. The implementation of this research in August 2021 to November 2021 takes place in class V MIN-6 East Aceh. This research uses Classroom Action Research (CAR) with Kurt Lewin's model. The implementation of this research was carried out in two cycles and each cycle carried out two meetings. Each meeting uses four stages, namely planning, action, observation and reflection. The data collection instrument used tests and observation sheets. The data analysis technique in this study used qualitative and quantitative descriptive analysis. The results of the study showed that there was an increase in the cognitive abilities of students with the implementation of a problem-based learning model with a contextual approach. Before the cycle, the cognitive scores of students who passed were 10 (40%) and a classical score of 65 was obtained. The increase in the cognitive value of students in the first cycle of the first meeting was obtained by 12 people with a value of 68 (48%). The results of the first cycle of the second meeting increased to 16 students with a value of 72 (64%). The results of the second cycle have reached the target of increasing to 21 students with a score of 80 (84%).Keywords: Problem-Based Learning, Contextual, Student Cognitive.

Abstract

AbstractThe background of this research is the low understanding of students' concepts in mathematics for multiplication material. Students find it difficult to understand the concept of multiplication and apply it in everyday life. Inappropriate learning strategies and the absence of media use are one of the causes of students' low understanding of the concept of multiplication material. The purpose of this study was to improve students' conceptual understanding of multiplication material by applying the Index Card Match model with the help of learning media at MIN 2 Padangsidimpuan. The learning media used is the rule of thumb. This research is a classroom action research which consists of two cycles and each consists of four main activities, namely planning, action, observation, and reflection. The subjects of this study were students of class IV MIN 2 Padangsidimpuan, totaling 30 people. The instrument for collecting data was a test sheet to measure students' conceptual understanding and an observation sheet to observe learning activities using the Index Card Match model with the help of learning media. Based on the results of the study, it was found that students' conceptual understanding increased in multiplication material through the Index Card Match learning model with the help of learning media, this can be seen from the increase in students' concept understanding test results where the average test increased, namely in the initial test 54.67 increased to 55.17 in the first cycle test 1 meeting and 59.33 in the first cycle test meeting 2. In the second cycle there was an increase of 65.00 in the second cycle meeting 1 and increased to 71.83 in the second cycle meeting 2. Keywords: Concept Understanding, Index Card Match Learning Model, Learning Media. AbstrakPenelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya pemahaman konsep siswa pada materi perkalian. Siswa kesulitan memahami konsep perkalian dan menerapkannya dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Strategi pembelajaran yang tidak tepat dan tidak adanya penggunaan media menjadi salah satu penyebab rendahnya pemahaman siswa terhadap konsep materi perkalian. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan pemahaman konsep siswa pada materi perkalian dengan menerapkan model Index Card Match dengan bantuan media pembelajaran di MIN 2 Padangsidimpuan. Media pembelajaran yang digunakan adalah rule of thumb. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas yang terdiri dari dua siklus dan masing-masing siklus terdiri dari empat kegiatan utama, yaitu perencanaan, tindakan, observasi, dan refleksi. Subyek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas IV MIN 2 Padangsidimpuan yang berjumlah 30 orang. Instrumen pengumpulan data berupa lembar tes untuk mengukur pemahaman konsep siswa dan lembar observasi untuk mengamati aktivitas pembelajaran menggunakan model Index Card Match dengan bantuan media pembelajaran. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diketahui bahwa pemahaman konsep siswa meningkat pada materi perkalian melalui model pembelajaran Index Card Match dengan bantuan media pembelajaran, hal ini terlihat dari peningkatan hasil tes pemahaman konsep siswa dimana rata-rata tes meningkat yaitu pada tes awal 54,67 meningkat menjadi 55,17 pada tes siklus I pertemuan 1 dan 59,33 pada tes siklus I pertemuan 2. Pada siklus II terjadi peningkatan 65,00 pada siklus II pertemuan 1 dan meningkat menjadi 71,83 pada pertemuan siklus II. Kata Kunci: Pemahaman Konsep, Model Pembelajaran Index Card Match, Media Pembelajaran

Abstract

The purpose of writing this article is to explain the strengthening of scientific/MIPA literacy through lesson study activities as an effort to create a generation with character. The writing of this article uses a literature study/literature study. The required data is collected through text review, then analyzed using content analysis techniques. Based on the literature study, it shows that the effort to create a generation with character is that teachers carry out lesson study activities in a collaborative way to carry out their professional development, designing 21st century skills learning (critical thinking, creative thinking, collaborative, communicative) so that they can provide literacy strengthening, especially science/MIPA literacy

Abstract

This research aims to develop a discrete mathematics module based on discovery learning to improve students’ mathematical understanding in higher education. This research used the Research and Development (R&D) method with a mixed approach and ADDIE model in the product development stage. The data collection techniques used questionnaires, tests and interview guides. Meanwhile, the data analysis technique used in this research combines qualitative and quantitative descriptive. The results include (1) Reviewing the study of discrete mathematics module development; it obtained valid results after going through several assessments and revisions, and the practicality of developing this discrete mathematics module was categorized as practical; it is not surprising that the module can increase students’ mathematical understanding with a range of 37.97; (2) Judging from effectiveness; it is obtained from inferential statistics that significance is 0.00, which means there is an influence on the use of discovery learning-based discrete mathematics modules on students’ mathematical understanding. These results have implications that the module has proved effective in improving students’ mathematical understanding in higher education.

Abstract

The phenomenon of mathematics phobia is a widespread concern within the field of education, which can be attributed to its perceived level of complexity and lack of inherent attractiveness. Nevertheless, the adoption of mathematics is of utmost importance, given its fundamental role in the advancement of scientific and technological disciplines. In order to mitigate concerns, it is imperative to employ pedagogical approaches that are well-organized and captivating. The utilization of mathematical games has been found to be an effective strategy for attracting the attention of kids. This study utilizes a comprehensive analysis of existing literature, focusing on pertinent theoretical sources. Mathematical games play a crucial role as a foundational framework and a valuable tool for research purposes. The study, which was carried out at State High School 1 Sinunukan and the author's place of residence, encompasses the period from the initial semester of 2021 to the final semester of 2023. The results of the study emphasize the potential of utilizing math games as a means to increase students' interest towards the subject. Educators are advised to customize their instructional methods, taking into account the unique abilities of each student, and dedicating much time and effort with compassion and conscientiousness. It is crucial to foster kids' curiosity in mathematics in order to maintain their engagement.
