Abstract

Recursive relations are an important concept in discrete mathematics used to define sequences, functions, and computational models. This study aims to analyze various methods for solving recursive relations and their implications for mathematics learning. The study used a library research approach to 15 articles published in SINTA-accredited national journals (1–5) and Scopus-indexed international journals during the 2020–2025 period. Articles were selected through identification, screening, eligibility, and inclusion stages based on topic relevance and full-text availability. The results of the study indicate that each method has its own characteristics: substitution and iteration are suitable for basic cases, characteristic equations are effective in homogeneous linear relations, generating functions excel in combinatorics contexts, and numerical approaches are relevant for complex dynamic systems. From a learning perspective, the application of recursive relations contributes to improving students' critical, logical, and creative thinking skills through discovery learning strategies, blended learning, and the use of concrete media. This study emphasizes the importance of integrating recursive relations in the discrete mathematics curriculum to equip students with higher-order thinking skills that are appropriate to the demands of the 21st century.

Abstract

Fungsi pembangkit (generating function) merupakan konsep fundamental dalam matematika diskrit yang memiliki peranan penting dalam menghubungkan teori kombinatorika, peluang, dan struktur aljabar. Konsep ini tidak hanya digunakan dalam analisis matematis, tetapi juga berpotensi sebagai pendekatan pedagogis yang mampu memperkuat pemahaman konseptual mahasiswa terhadap hubungan antara objek diskrit dan representasi fungsionalnya. Kajian ini bertujuan untuk meninjau secara sistematis berbagai penelitian teoretis dan empiris yang membahas fungsi pembangkit dari perspektif matematis dan pedagogis serta mengidentifikasi implikasinya terhadap pembelajaran matematika diskrit di pendidikan tinggi. Metode yang digunakan adalah Systematic Literature Review (SLR) terhadap sepuluh artikel nasional dan internasional terbitan tahun 2018–2025. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa fungsi pembangkit berperan dalam: (1) memperkuat pemahaman konsep abstrak melalui translasi aljabar terhadap struktur kombinatorial, (2) meningkatkan kemampuan representasi matematis mahasiswa melalui pendekatan penemuan terbimbing, serta (3) menyediakan kerangka integratif antara teori peluang, partisi bilangan, dan aplikasi komputasi. Kajian ini merekomendasikan integrasi fungsi pembangkit dalam kurikulum matematika diskrit berbasis Problem-Based Learning (PBL) dengan dukungan modul penemuan terbimbing untuk menciptakan pembelajaran yang lebih bermakna dan konseptual.

Abstract

This study aims to solve transportation problems by applying the Minimum Spanning Tree (MST) approach using two primary algorithms, namely Kruskal’s algorithm and Prim’s algorithm, to obtain an optimal solution. Both algorithms are part of graph theory and are used to determine the minimum spanning structure of a connected network. The Kruskal algorithm begins by sorting the edge weights in ascending order and then selecting the smallest edges sequentially until all vertices are connected without forming a cycle. In contrast, Prim’s algorithm starts by selecting an arbitrary initial vertex and then repeatedly adding the edge with the smallest cost that connects a new vertex to the growing tree. In the context of transportation problems, both algorithms are employed to minimize the total distribution cost based on the relationship between supply sources and demand destinations. The results of the study indicate that the MST approach using Prim’s algorithm performs more efficiently than Kruskal’s algorithm in terms of achieving a lower optimal solution value and requiring fewer iterations. Therefore, Prim’s algorithm can be recommended as a more effective method for optimizing transportation problems based on tree graph structures

Abstract

The main issue behind this study is the low learning outcomes of students, most of whom have not achieved the minimum passing grade of 75. Based on initial observations, the learning process in the classroom is still conventional and dominated by monotonous lecture methods, with minimal use of engaging learning media. This condition makes students less active and enthusiastic, and the classroom atmosphere becomes unconducive. To overcome this problem, the researcher applied comics as an alternative learning medium that is visual and enjoyable. This study was conducted to improve student learning outcomes in science in grade III at SD Negeri 101800 Ujung Batu Jae, Ujung Batu District, Padang Lawas Utara Regency. This study used the classroom action research (CAR) method, which was carried out in two cycles, with four stages in each cycle: planning, implementation of actions, observation, and reflection. The research subjects consisted of 15 students. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation and learning outcome tests, then analyzed descriptively and quantitatively. The results of the study showed a significant increase in student learning outcomes. In the pre-cycle stage, only 5 students (33.33%) achieved the minimum passing grade. In cycle I, this increased to 10 students (66.66%), and in cycle II, it reached 13 students (86.66%). The average class score also increased from 65.33 to 77.33. In addition, the use of comic media was also able to increase student activity, motivation, and confidence. Thus, comic media proved to be effective as a learning medium that supports the improvement of science learning outcomes and overall student participation. ABSTRAK Masalah utama yang melatarbelakangi penelitian ini adalah rendahnya nilai hasil belajar siswa yang sebagian besar belum mencapai Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimal (KKM) sebesar 75. Berdasarkan hasil observasi awal, proses pembelajaran di kelas masih bersifat konvensional dan didominasi oleh metode ceramah yang monoton, serta minimnya penggunaan media pembelajaran yang menarik. Kondisi ini membuat siswa kurang aktif, tidak antusias, dan suasana kelas menjadi tidak kondusif. Untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut, peneliti menerapkan media komik sebagai alternatif media pembelajaran yang bersifat visual dan menyenangkan. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa pada mata pelajaran Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam (IPA) di kelas III SD Negeri 101800 Ujung Batu Jae, Kecamatan Ujung Batu, Kabupaten Padang Lawas Utara. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) yang dilakukan dalam dua siklus, dengan empat tahap pada setiap siklus: perencanaan, pelaksanaan tindakan, observasi, dan refleksi. Subjek penelitian berjumlah 15 siswa. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi dan tes hasil belajar, kemudian dianalisis secara deskriptif kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan pada hasil belajar siswa. Pada tahap pra-siklus, hanya 5 siswa (33,33%) yang mencapai KKM. Siklus I meningkat menjadi 10 siswa (66,66%), dan pada siklus II mencapai 13 siswa (86,66%). Rata-rata nilai kelas pun meningkat dari 65,33 menjadi 77,33. Selain itu, penggunaan media komik juga mampu meningkatkan keaktifan, motivasi, dan rasa percaya diri siswa. Dengan demikian, media komik terbukti efektif sebagai media pembelajaran yang mendukung peningkatan hasil belajar IPA dan partisipasi siswa secara keseluruhan.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk kemandirian belajar siswa MTs YPKS Padangsidimpuan pada pembelajaran matematika di kelas VIII melalui pembelajaran langsung. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada sekolah MTs YPKS Padangsidimpuan. Subjek yang digunakan pada penelitian ini merupakan siswa kelas VIII dengan jumlah siswa sebanyak 40 orang siswa. Data penelitian dikumpulkan melalui teknik survei dengan menggunakan instrument non-tes berupa angket pertanyaan yang dibagikan langsung kepada siswa dan wawancara. Hasil Penelitian diperoleh dalam penelitian ini yaitu indikator kemandirian belajar siswa dengan kategori cukup baik meliputi inisiatif belajar, mendiagnosis kebutuhan belajar, mencari dan memanfaatkan sumber belajar yang relevan, memilih dan menerapkan strategi belajar, dan self-efficacy/konsep diri/kemampuan diri, sedangkan indikator lainnya seperti menetapkan tujuan/target belajar, memandang kesulitan sebagai tantangan, dan mengevaluasi proses dan hasil belajar dapat digolongkan dalam kategori baik. Dengan demikian, analisis kemandirian belajar siswa kelas VIII MTs YPKS Padangsidimpuan menunjukkan sebagian besar siswa memiliki kemandirian belajar sebesar 74,22% dan dikategorikan cukup baik. Oleh karna itu, guru harus dapat menumbuhkan maupun mendorong kemandirian belajar siswa baik itu dengan media pembelajaran dan bahan ajar dan sebagainya yang dapat meningkatkan kemandirian belajar siswa.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan literasi matematika ditinjau dari self efficacy dan pola pikir siswa. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah tes, angket dan wawancara. Teknik analisis data dalam penelitian ini meliputi reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) kemampuan literasi matematika diperoleh 5 siswa pada kategori sangat baik, 13 siswa  pada kategori baik, 4 siswa pada kategori cukup dan 10 siswa pada kategori kurang. Dan rata-rata tes kemampuan literasi matematika adalah 74,35 dengan kategori cukup. (2) Self-efficacy memperoleh 5 siswa dengan Self-efficacy yang sangat tinggi, 11 siswa dengan Self-efficacy yang  tinggi, 9 siswa dengan Self-efficacy yang sedang, 5 siswa dengan Self-efficacy yang rendah dan 2 siswa dengan Self-efficacy yang sangat rendah. Jadi dapat disimpulkan bahwa Self-efficacy secara keseluruhan tergolong sedang. (3) Pola pikir matematis siswa memperoleh 6 siswa dengan pola pikir yang sangat tinggi, 12 siswa dengan pola pikir yang  tinggi, 8 siswa dengan pola pikir yang sedang, 4 siswa dengan pola pikir yang rendah dan 2 siswa dengan pola pikir yang sangat rendah. Jadi dapat disimpulkan bahwa pola pikir matematis siswa tergolong sedang. (4) Kemampuan literasi matematika sangat berkaitan dengan self efficacy dan pola pikir siswa VII MTs. S Robi’ul Islam Pasar Latong. Semakin tinggi self efficacy dan pola pikir matematis siswa maka semakin baik kemampuan literasi matematika. Dan semakin rendah self efficacy dan pola pikir matematis siswa maka semakin buruk kemampuan literasi matematika siswa.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This research was conducted to examine the impact of PowerPoint-based instructional media on the learning outcomes of sixth-grade students in Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) at SDN 200507 Pijorkoling. A quantitative approach was employed using a pre-experimental One Group Pretest–Posttest Design. The participants consisted of 11 students, including 5 males and 6 females. Data were collected through a multiple-choice achievement test administered before and after the instructional intervention. The data analysis revealed a statistically significant difference between pretest and posttest results, with the mean score increasing from 61.45 to 70.45. The results of the t-test indicated a significant effect (p = 0.000 < 0.05), demonstrating that the use of PowerPoint media significantly influenced students’ learning outcomes. Nevertheless, the N-Gain value of 0.2478 suggests that the level of improvement falls within the low effectiveness category. These findings indicate that while PowerPoint media contributes to a statistically measurable improvement in learning outcomes, its practical effectiveness requires further optimization. Abstract

The background of this study is the lack of innovative and environmentally friendly learning media in the biology learning process, especially in explaining abstract concepts such as the human circulatory system. The development of this teaching aid utilizes inorganic waste such as plastic bottles, wood or plywood, cardboard, and used hoses that are easily found in the surrounding environment, thus supporting the principles of environment-based learning and student creativity. This study aims to develop waste-based biology learning aids used in the material on the human circulatory system at SMA Negeri 1 Sipirok. Research and development or known as Research and Development (R&D). The development model used is the ADDIE model (Analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation). which is modified into several stages, namely: potential and problems, data collection, product design, design validation, design revision, product trial, and final revision. Validity tests are carried out by material experts and media experts, while feasibility tests are carried out through observation and questionnaires of teachers and grade XI students at SMA Negeri 1 Sipirok. The results of the study indicate that this waste-based teaching aid is very suitable for use as a learning medium with a feasibility percentage by material experts of 80% and by media experts of 90%. In addition, the responses of students and teachers to the use of this teaching aid are very positive with an average score above 90.62%. This tool not only helps students understand the concept of blood circulation visually and practically, but also instills awareness of the importance of waste management and creativity in creating useful learning media. Thus, the development of this waste-based biology learning aid can be an innovative and educational solution in improving the quality of biology learning in secondary schools

Abstract

This research was conducted in Grade VI at SD 200223 Sibulan-bulan Padangsidimpuan during the academic year 2023/2024, focusing on the topic of fractions. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of the Realistic Mathematics Approach on students' understanding of concepts in Grade VI at SD 200223 Sibulan-bulan. The study utilized a Post-Test-Only Control Group design and was of quasi-experimental nature. It involved an experimental group receiving the Realistic Mathematics Education Approach treatment and a control group not receiving such treatment. Both groups were selected randomly. The research findings indicate that students' understanding of mathematical concepts was better when using the Realistic Mathematics Approach compared to conventional learning methods. Based on the hypothesis testing results, it was found that t-count > t-table (2.23 > 1.98) and the Sig. value = 0.018, indicating that there is a positive effect of the Realistic Mathematics Education Approach (RME) on students' conceptual understanding. Based on the above findings, it is recommended that the learning process in schools use the Realistic Mathematics Education Approach, as it can improve students' conceptual understanding and mathematical abilities.

Abstract

This study was conducted with the aim of discussing mathematics learning media in Elementary Schools. This research is a literature study. Literature study research data were obtained from documents or library sources. The information search process with researchers looking for information either from national journals or books related to the research title. The results of this study are that learning media are anything that can be used to convey messages (learning materials), so that they can stimulate students' attention, interest, thoughts, and feelings in learning activities to achieve learning goals.The conclusion of this study is that mathematics learning media are tools used to support mathematics learning so that students understand the material better and can stimulate students' thought patterns. The function of mathematics learning media is to make mathematics learning more interesting and to make it easier for children to learn mathematics.
