Abstract

Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) have become a significant health issue at both national and global levels. The increasing prevalence of NCDs is closely related to dietary habits that include high cholesterol intake. Excessive cholesterol in the body can lead to various complications, such as heart disease, stroke, and hypertension. Therefore, this outreach aims to educate and enhance public knowledge regarding the complications caused by high cholesterol and preventive measures that can be taken. The outreach activities were conducted face-to-face, involving active participation from the participants. The methods used in the outreach included presentations, interactive discussions, and Q&A sessions to ensure better understanding of the topic. Data were collected through pre-tests and post-tests conducted before and after the outreach. Data analysis using the Shapiro-Wilk test showed p < 0.05 for both pre-tests and post-tests, indicating that the data were not normally distributed (P > 0.05). Further analysis using the Wilcoxon test indicated a significant change in participants' knowledge before and after the outreach, with a p-value < 0.05. The results of this outreach are expected to have a positive impact on the public’s knowledge regarding health risks associated with high cholesterol and to encourage individuals to adopt healthier lifestyles. Thus, it is hoped that the prevalence of NCDs can decrease and the community will be more aware of the dangers of high cholesterol.

Abstract

The research is motivated by the suboptimal use of video learning media, which does not meet the need for engaging, easily understandable, and relevant learning media that align with the current visual and digital learning habits of students. The learning media used are still not optimal, resulting in low student learning outcomes. This research was conducted with the aim of developing valid, practical, and effective learning video media using the CapCut application on the topic of the human circulatory system for 11th-grade students. The method used in this research is development research (RD) with the ADDIE model, which includes five stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The subjects in this study were 30 students from class XI-7 for the 2024/2025 academic year. The data collection instrument was in the form of validation questionnaires from media, material, and language experts. The questionnaire measuring practicality was distributed to biology teachers and students, while the effectiveness was measured using a pretest-posttest. Data were analyzed descriptively using both quantitative and qualitative methods. The research results show that the developed video media has a validity level from media experts of 98.08% (very valid category), material experts of 92.5% (very valid category), and language experts of 100% (very valid category). Additionally, the response from teachers was 89.58% and the response from students was 93.5% (very practical category). The results of the effectiveness test using student test scores showed a pretest percentage of 67.26% and a posttest percentage of 84.6%. To see theimprovement in student learning outcomes, the N-Gain was calculated with a percentage of 50.99%, categorized as quite effective. Therefore, this CapCut-based learning video media can be used as an effective alternative media in the Biology learning process, especially on the topic of the human circulatory system.

Abstract

The background of this study is based on the low interest in learning and student learning outcomes in Biology material which is abstract and the limited interesting and contextual learning media. This study aims to develop learning media in the form of digital comics as an effort to improve students' conceptual understanding of the human respiratory system material in class XI of SMA Negeri 3 Padangsidimpuan. The research method used is Research and Development (RD) with the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) development model. The subjects of this study were students of class XI-3. The instruments used include validation questionnaires from media experts, material experts, language experts, teacher response questionnaires, student response questionnaires and conceptual understanding tests. The validation results show that the developed digital comics are categorized as very valid both in terms of content and media display with an average of 89.88%. The results of data analysis from the practicality questionnaire from teacher responses at SMA Negeri 1 Padangsidimpuan reached a percentage of 98% and the results of the student response questionnaire with a sample of 31 students reached an average value of 88.96% with a very practical category. Digital comic media, which is used to measure students' conceptual understanding of the human respiratory system material, is included in the effective category. The effectiveness of this digital comic media can be seen based on the N-Gain value of student learning outcomes, which is 56.04% with moderate criteria, and based on the results of the student effectiveness questionnaire using digital comic media, which is 87.66%. Product trials show that the use of digital comics can significantly improve students' conceptual understanding. Thus, this digital comic learning media is worthy of being used as an alternative learning media in the Biology learning process, especially in the human respiratory system material.

Abstract

The background of this research is the question of the daily test of Class XI IPA on the material of human respiratory system at MAN Sibolga Plus Skills then the question was analyzed by the researcher. The results of the question analysis indicated that MAN Sibolga Plus Skills students still used tests that tended to be categorized as Low Order Thinking Skills (LOTS), so the researchers raised the issue of developing Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) instruments to measure students' thinking skills. The research and development (RD) method used in this study by applying the 4D development model (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate). The instruments used in this study were validation and questionnaire. The results of this study were experts validated the questionnaire and instrument to the validator then the validator provided comments and assessments, namely that the Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) test instrument product to measure students' thinking skills on the material of the respiratory system has a very high level of validity with an average of 87.25%. The results of data analysis from the practicality questionnaire from the teacher response at State Senior High School (SMAN) 1 Pinangsori reached a percentage of 100% and the results of the student response questionnaire with a sample of 36 students reached an average value of 93.8% with a very practical category. The Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) test instrument used to measure students' thinking skills on this respiratory material is included in the highly effective category. The effectiveness of this Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) test instrument can be seen with an average value of 83.86%, with a very high category.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to develop a traditional market context-based e-book as a digital learning resource to support mathematics learning and students’ mathematical reasoning in Class X TKRO 1 at SMK Negeri 2 Padangsidimpuan. This study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE development model, which consists of five stages: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. In the Analysis stage, learning needs, curriculum requirements, student characteristics, and problems related to students’ mathematical reasoning were identified through observation and literature review. In the Design stage, the e-book framework, mathematics learning materials, layout, and contextual learning activities were designed by integrating traditional market situations into mathematics learning. In the Development stage, the e-book was developed based on the designed framework and subsequently validated by two material experts and two media experts, followed by revisions based on their suggestions. In the Implementation stage, the revised e-book was implemented with 30 students of Class X TKRO 1 at SMK Negeri 2 Padangsidimpuan to obtain student responses regarding its use in mathematics learning. In the Evaluation stage, formative evaluation was conducted throughout the development process, while summative evaluation was based on expert validation results and student responses to determine the feasibility of the developed e-book. The research instruments consisted of material and media expert validation questionnaires and student response questionnaires. The results showed that the e-book obtained an average material expert validation score of 87.5% and a media expert validation score of 85.0%, both categorized as very feasible. Student responses obtained an average score of 84.3%, which was also categorized as very feasible based on the criteria used in the study. These findings indicate that the developed traditional market context-based e-book meets the very feasible category and can be used as a contextual digital learning resource for mathematics learning at vocational high schools.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan e-modul berbasis kontekstual untuk meningkatkan keterampilan representasi matematis siswa, khususnya pada topik relasi dan fungsi. Pengembangan ini dilatarbelakangi oleh kurangnya sumber belajar yang interaktif dan terintegrasi dengan teknologi yang sesuai dengan kesiapan siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan model ADDIE dengan pendekatan Penelitian dan Pengembangan (RD) dan dilakukan di Kelas VIII di MTsN 1 Tapanuli Selatan. Data dikumpulkan melalui tes, angket, wawancara, dokumentasi, dan observasi. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah lembar validasi, lembar tes keterampilan representasi matematis, dan angket respons pengguna untuk guru dan siswa. Validasi melibatkan ahli materi, media, bahasa, dan instrumen. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan e-modul sangat valid dengan skor 93,33% dan praktis dengan persentase respons pengguna sebesar 92,53%. Hasil uji N-Gain sebesar 40% menunjukkan keefektifan sedang. Uji T-Sampel Berpasangan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan yang signifikan pada keterampilan representasi matematis siswa setelah menggunakan e-modul (t-hitung 21 t-tabel 2,07). Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa e-modul berbasis kontekstual merupakan media yang efektif, valid, dan praktis untuk meningkatkan keterampilan representasi matematika dan mendukung kesiapan belajar siswa.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi dengan pengembangan bahan ajar matematika diskrit terhadap keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi (HOTS) dengan menggunakan pendekatan project based learning. Perangkat pembelajaran matematika yang dipakai oleh mahasiswa belum menggunakan pendekatan project based learning. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan validasi untuk pengembangan bahan ajar matematika diskrit, bagaimana pretaktikalitas untuk pengembangan bahan ajar matematika diskrit dan mendeskripsikan efektivitas untuk pengembangan bahan ajar. Metode penelitian yang dilakukan pada penelitian ini adalah pengembangan dengan melakukan perencanaan perangkat pembelajaran berupa buku teks dan instrumen asesmen pada matakuliah matematika diskrit. Prosedur pengembangan ini menggunakan prosedur yang di adaptasi dari Bord dan Gall yang di bagi atas tahapan diantaranya pengumpulan informasi, perencanaan, pengembangan awal produk dan  uji produk dan revisis produk. Angket dan tes yang disebarkan pada mahasiswa menjadi instrumen pada penelitian ini. Sampel yang digunakan pada penelitian ini merupakan mahasiswa TMM-1 dan TMM-2 semester IV yang telah ditentukan. Validasi ahli dilakukan dengan dua tahapan dimana didapatkan nilai Skor pada penilaian tahap 1 yaitu 3,375 dengan nilai tersebut termasuk kedalam  kategori layak, dan tahap 2 diperoleh nilai dengan skor 4,33 dengan kategori nilai termasuk kedalam kategori sangat layak dan layak di uji coba. Hasil deskripsi persepsi mahasiswa terhadap bahan ajar  menunjukkan bahwa 40,17% mahasiswa dengan kategori cukup terhadap aspek tampilan gambar dan tulisan dan sisanya sekor untuk penyajian dengan kategori cukup baik. Hasil analisis yang dilakukan dan diuji coba diperoleh nilai sebesar 85,4 % dengan kategori sangat baik, dan diperoleh respon positif daari hasil analisis.  Uji efektivitas dinyatakan efektif, dikarenakan didapatkan nilai  Sig(2-tailed) adalah 0,000 0,05 dan dengan perilehan tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwasanya pengambilan keputusan Ho ditolak dan Ha diterima teruji efektivitas terhadap keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi (HOTS).
