Abstract

Child sexual abuse is a form of violence that has serious impacts on children’s psychological, emotional, and social conditions. Victims often experience trauma characterized by excessive fear, withdrawal, and difficulties is forming social interactions. Due to children’s limited verbal abilities, a non-verbal of which this doll play technique. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the doll play technique in supporting trauma recovery for a child victim of sexual at Wijaya Kusuma Orphanage. The research employed a qualitative approach with Single-Subject Research (SSR) A-B-A design, consisting of three phases: initial baseline (A1), intervention using the doll play technique (B), and final baseline (B2). The focus of the study includes: 1) the dynamics of behavioral and emotional expression changes during the intervention, and 2) the role of symbolic representation through doll in the trauma recovery process. Data were collected through three primary methods: 1) participatory observation over eight sessions, 2) in-depth interviews with orphanage caregivers, and 3) a modified version of The Trauma Symptom Checklist of Children (TSCC) adjusted for a seven-year-old child’s comprehension level. Data were analyzed descriptively and qualitatively using source and method triangulation. The results showed a decrease in trauma symptom scores from the moderate to minimal category, as well as improvements in emotional expression and social engagement. The doll play technique proved to be an effective, empathetic, and relevant symbolic medium in assisting children’s trauma recovery in a non-clinical context.

Abstract

This Classroom Action Research (CAR) aimed to improve and enhance the learning process and outcomes of students in Islamic Cultural History (SKI) subject, specifically on the topic of the Prophet's Da'wah Strategy in Mecca, through the implementation of the Everyone Is A Teacher Here learning strategy. This strategy was essential for fostering students' courage, activity, and learning responsibility. The study employed a quantitative approach with a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design, conducted in two cycles. The subjects were 17 students of class VIII-A at SMP Muhammadiyah 56 Binjai Timur. Data collection techniques included observation to measure activity, learning outcome tests, and interviews. The analysis results indicated a significant increase in learning outcomes after the implementation of the Everyone Is A Teacher Here strategy. Before the intervention, the students' average scores were below the Minimum Completeness Criteria (KKM). Based on the analysis of activity data, there was a drastic increase in student activity from pre-cycle 68 to 82 in Cycle I, and reaching 87 in Cycle II. Quantitatively, the average learning outcome score in Cycle I was 5.6 with a classical completeness percentage of 28% , and in Cycle II, the average score increased rapidly to 7.9 with a classical completeness percentage reaching 82%. Qualitatively, in Cycle II, students' questions began to develop and demonstrated articulated ideas, and students' interest and motivation to learn increased. Therefore, it was concluded that the Everyone Is A Teacher Here strategy was effective in improving SKI learning outcomes, and classical completeness reached the target set in Cycle II.

Abstract

The evaluation of learning outcomes plays an important role in determining the success of the educational process, particularly in shaping students’ character and moral values in the Akhlak course. One aspect that needs to be analyzed in evaluation is the level of item difficulty as an indicator of the quality of assessment instruments. This study aims to analyze the level of item difficulty in the Akhlak course at Assunnah Islamic College (Sekolah Tinggi Agama Islam/STAI Assunnah) to determine the extent to which the test items are aligned with students’ abilities and the principles of validity in educational evaluation. The results of the study show that out of 40 test items analyzed, 15 items (37.5%) were classified as easy, 18 items (45%) as moderate, and 7 items (17.5%) as difficult. This distribution indicates that most of the items are at a moderate level of difficulty; however, there are still proportions of items that are too easy and too difficult. Such conditions can affect the validity of test results because not all items are able to optimally discriminate students’ abilities. These findings emphasize the importance of conducting regular item analysis so that evaluation instruments in the Akhlak course become more proportional and are able to measure learning outcomes comprehensively. The results of this study are expected to help lecturers improve the quality of questions by improving indicators, grids, and difficulty calibration.

Abstract

Balikpapan Bay contains extensive mangrove forests which play an important role as habitat for a range of species and in providing a range of ecosystem services. In recent years, the mangrove forests around Balikpapan Bay are increasingly being lost and degraded due to development pressures. Thus, change detection in mangrove ecosystem has become highly relevant, as it can provide essential information to support the conservation practices and coastal management. This study aims to map mangrove forest change in Balikpapan Bay, East Kalimantan over a five-year period from Sentinel-2 using machine learning. Five machine learning algorithms (Random Forest (RF), Support Vector Machine (SVM), Classification and Regression Tree (CART), K-Nearest Neighbors (KNN), and Minimum Distance), implemented on the Google Earth Engine platform, were evaluated to determine the most suitable method. The evaluation results indicate that RF, SVM, and CART yielded mangrove mapping accuracies of 80% or higher. Notably, the CART algorithm surpassed the other tested models, demonstrating the highest overall accuracy of 84% and a Kappa coefficient of 0.78. Mapping using the selected CART model shows that, between 2020 and 2025, mangrove areas in Balikpapan Bay decreased by 21% (2,906.17 ha). Approximately 97% (2,834.49 ha) of this loss is concentrated in the North Penajam Paser, which has a high rate of land conversion to built-up areas.

Abstract

Effective port management requires prioritizing environmental compliance in accordance with international regulations such as MARPOL. This study aims to identify and rank the most critical MARPOL Annex V criteria affecting port environmental performance at Semayang Port, Balikpapan, using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). Expert respondents provided pairwise comparisons of four key criteria, and their relative importance was visualized using a bar chart. Results show that Ship Waste Disposal in the port area (0.3317) and Fuel Reporting (0.3243) are the top priorities, together accounting for over 65% of total importance. In contrast, Waste Reporting (0.1785) and Occupational Health and Safety Standards (0.1655) were lower-ranked, reflecting that operational pollution control and fuel management dominate decision-making priorities. These findings provide a structured framework for port authorities to allocate resources, phase MARPOL-related interventions, and enhance compliance. By focusing on the most impactful criteria, Semayang Port and other ports in Indonesia and Asia can advance toward sustainable, resilient, and environmentally responsible operations.
