Abstract

Aspek sosial dan budaya dari suatu masyarakat terbentuk dari suatu hasil perpaduan berbagai interaksi perilaku masyarakat setempat dengan lingkungan di mana masyarakat itu berada yang telah berlangsung turun temurun.  Aspek sosial dan budaya masyarakat ini menentukan apa yang dimakan oleh masyarakat di suatu tempat. Penentuan pola konsumsi pangan masyarakat di suatu tempat dipengaruhi oleh berbagai factor yang kompleks. Faktor-gaktor itu seperti:  tradisi makan yang merupakan warisan turun temurun, produksi pertanian setempat, pengetahuan akan kandungan gizi dari jenis-jenis makanan yang ada dalam pola konsumsi pangan, pendapatan dan kecenderungan-kecenderungan baru dalam pola konsumsi pangan yang terus berkembang dalam masyarakat. Penentuan pola konsumsi pangan ini bersifat dinamis yang berubah seiring dengan perjalanan waktu. Kegiatan Pengabdian ini dilaksanakan dengan tujuan untuk melakukan penguatan aspek sosio budaya pangan gizi dan kesehatan ibu balita dalam rangka percepatan penurunan stunting di Desa Sumlili, Kecamatan Kupang Barat, Kabupaten. Kupang. Pelaksanaan pengabdian ini menggunakan metode “Pendidikan penyuluhan kepada masyarakat”.  Peserta penyuluhan adalah semua ibu balita sebanyak 30 orang pada tanggal 20 Nopember 2022 di Desa Sumlili, Kecamatan Kupang Barat Kabupaten Kupang.  Kegiatan penyuluhan ini menemukan hasil bahwa dari 30 ibu balita terdapat 87% belum terkait peranan aspek sosio budaya terhadap pangan, gizi dan kesehatan ibu dan balita. Setelah dikonfirmasi, diketahui bahwa ibu balita tersebut selama ini hanya menyiapkan menu makanan dan pengolahan makanan tersebut sesuai kebiasaan makan mereka secara turun-temurun. Setelah melakukan penyuluhan ditemukan bahwa semua ibu balita dapat memahami tentang peranan factor sosio budaya pangan dan gizi serta Kesehatan ibu dan anak serta mempunyai peningkatan ketrampilan dalam memilih jenis pangan, menentukan menu dan menilai status gizi.

Abstract

Children are an integral part of national development. In the future children will play a role as the next generation of the nation that determines its quality. School-age is a phase where growth and development occur very quickly, to be able to achieve optimal growth and development, an adequate intake of nutrients is necessary. However, the fulfillment of nutrients in this age group is often not properly met. This condition happens because of many factors, one of them is that children have a low level of knowledge and understanding about nutrition. The nutrition counseling activity was attended by 80 students. The activities are effective in increasing children’s knowledge and understanding of the importance of balanced nutrition. If the material was presented in an interesting form, accompanied by animated video, it will increase the enthusiasm of students in receiving information. In addition, the existence of a balanced nutrition pocket book for students helped them to understand the importance of balanced nutrition.

Abstract

The study aims to investigate the influence of supplementation of hydroxy methionine analogues (HMA) and vegetable oils (VO) on testosterone hormone levels and physiological profile of blood plasma of fattening Bali cattle. A randomized block design with four treatments and four tests was used in the study. Sixteen male Bali cattle with a body weight range of 78-183 kg with CV of 25.33% were used. The ration containeds 18% protein and ME = 16 MJ/kg DM with a target weight gain of 0.6 kg/day. The ration is prepared with a protein content of 18% and metabolic energy = 16 MJ / kg BK with a target of weight gain of 0.6 kg / day. Concentrate is given as much as 3% of body weight while rice straw and drinking water are provided ad libitum. The treatment were as follows: RA = concentrate containing C. odorata flour + rice straw ad libitum (control); RB = RA + 3 g HMA; RC = RA + 0.5% VO and RD = RA + 3 g HMA + 0.5% VO. The variables measured were as follows: testosterone hormone, erythrocytes, hemoglobin, leucocytes and hematocrit. The results showed that the supplementation of HMA and VO had no significant effect (P˃0.05) on testosterone hormone levels and physiological profile of blood plasma of the study livestock. It was concluded that the use of AHM and VO had no impact on changes in testosterone hormone concentrations and blood profiles of study cattle

Abstract

Work accident cases are a health problem in many parts of the world, including in the East Nusa Tenggara region. This study aims to analyze the relationship between behavior and work accidents among rice farmers who use pesticides in Oebobo village, Batu Putih district. This type of research uses an analytic survey with a cross-sectional design. The study's results were analyzed statistically using the chi-square test showing the relationship between knowledge and work accidents obtained a score (p-value) of 0.023, and the relationship between attitudes and work accidents got a score (p-value) of 0.044. The relationship between action and work accidents, a score (p-value) of 0.030 was obtained so that statistically, there was a relationship between behavior and work accidents on pesticide-using rice in Oebobo Village, Batu Putih District. This research contributes to knowing the causes of work accidents among farmers who use pesticides, namely lack of knowledge, attitudes that do not want to use personal protective equipment, and unsafe actions at work. The use of PPE by rice farmers is still deficient. The majority of farmers generally still feel indifferent about this. The findings obtained in this study indicate that knowledge, attitudes, and actions are related to work accidents among rice farmers who use pesticides in Oebobo Village, Batu Putih District. In the future, there needs to be more intense outreach by either village assistants or other related parties in order to increase the knowledge and understanding of the farmers in the village, as well as prevent work accidents in the future.

Abstract

Background: Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT) Province has many problems related to nutritional intake and public health. Pregnant women and children under five are groups of people who are very vulnerable to this problem. Many government programs have been implemented but to date there are still high maternal and infant mortality rates as well as high problems of malnutrition and stunting. This study aimed to determine what factors influence the nutritional status of toddlers in Rote Ndao Regency. Subjects and Method: This was a cross-sectional study conducted in Rote Ndao Regency, Kupang, NTT, Indonesia, from August to November 2023. A total of 43 mothers who had children aged 12-59 months were selected for this study. The dependent variable was nutritional status (height for age/ HAZ). The independent variables were maternal knowledge on nutrition and stunting, history of infectious diseases, and local-food-based supplementary feeding. Supplementary feeding was measured using food frequency questionnaire (FFQ). Nutritional status was measured by height for age. The data were analyzed using a multiple linear regression. Results: Maternal nutritional knowledge (b= 0.37; 95% CI = 0.23 to 0.50; p = 0.001), no history of infection (b= 0.98; 95% CI= 0.72 to 1.24; p= 0.001), and local-food-based supplementary feeding (b= 1.33; 95% CI= 0.71 to 1.96; p= 0.001) positively and significantly increased nutritional status (height for age) in children under five. Conclusion: Maternal nutritional knowledge, no history of infection, and local-food-based suplementary feeding positively and significantly increase nutritional status (height for age) in children under five.

Abstract

Rendahnya pengetahuan dan pemahaman masyarakat mengenai gizi merupakan salah satu penyebab munculnya persoalan gizi dan kesehatan, selain itu minimnya akses terhadap pangan yang sehat dan bergizi juga juga menjadi salah satu pemicu yang ikut andil dalam menambah kompleksitas persoalan gizi di masyarakat. Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan sekaligus memberdayakan masyarakat melalui kebun sayur bersama sehingga mereka memiliki akses yang lebih baik terhadap pangan yang sehat dan bergizi. Metode yang digunakan dalam pengabdian ini adalah penyuluhan dengan ceramah disertai diskusi sementara untuk pemberdayaan masyarakat dilakukan dengan menginisiasi kebun sayur. Kegiatan ini dipandang sebagai solusi yang efektif untuk mengatasi persoalan rendahnya pengetahuan dan minimnya akses terhadap pangan sehat. Kegiatan penyuluhan gizi yang dilakukan berhasil meningkatkan pengetahuan masyarakat mengenai gizi hal dibuktikan dengan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan gizi setelah dilakukan edukasi, dimana sebelum edukasi mayoritas peserta masih berpengetahuan kurang dan setelah dilakukan edukasi terdapat 26 peserta (87%) yang pengetahuannya meningkat menjadi baik, sementara untuk kebun sayur bersama yang diinisiasi oleh tim pengabdian berhasil sudah dimanfaatkan dengan baik. Kebun sayur bersama ini diharapkan dapat memenuhi kebutuhan pangan keluarga, mendatangkan lebih banyak manfaat ekonomi dan sekaligus menjadi kebun percontohan bagi masyarakat yang ada di Desa Tanah Putih. Low public knowledge and understanding of nutrition is one of the causes of the emergence of nutrition and health problems, apart from that, the lack of access to healthy and nutritious food is also one of the triggers that contributes to increasing the complexity of nutritional problems in society. The aim of this service activity is to increase knowledge while empowering the community through community vegetable gardens so that they have better access to healthy and nutritious food. The method used in this service is outreach with lectures accompanied by discussions, while community empowerment is carried out by initiating vegetable gardens. This activity is seen as an effective solution to overcome the problem of low knowledge and minimal access to healthy food. The nutrition education activities carried out succeeded in increasing public knowledge regarding nutrition, which was proven by an increase in nutritional knowledge after the education was carried out, where before the education the majority of participants still had poor knowledge and after the education there were 26 participants (87%) whose knowledge increased to good, while for gardens The shared vegetables initiated by the community service team have been put to good use. It is hoped that this joint vegetable garden can fulfill the family's food needs, bring more economic benefits and at the same time become a demonstration garden for the community in Tanah Putih Village.

Abstract

Breast milk (breast milk) is the best nutrition for babies, the low coverage of exclusive breastfeeding is a threat to the growth and development of children, breastfeeding is the right of every mother, and exclusive breastfeeding to newborns is one of the efforts to prevent infectious diseases, malnutrition problems, and infant death. due to many influencing factors, namely the lack of maternal knowledge about breastfeeding, working mothers, lack of support from family, information support from health workers and the surrounding environment. In 2023, in the work area of the Penfui Health Center, there are 177 working mothers who have babies or around 45.45%. The purpose of this study is to analyze factors related to the low coverage of exclusive breastfeeding in working mothers in the Penfui Health Center Area. This study is an analytical survey research using the Cross-Sectional method and a sample of 64 respondents. The data of this study was analyzed using the Chi Square test. The results of the study found that there was a significant relationship between maternal knowledge (p=0.046), information exposure (p=0.020), family support (p=0.044), health worker support (p=0.031) and low coverage of exclusive breastfeeding. There was a relationship between maternal occupation (p0.027) and infant health status (p=0.041), age (p=0.326) there was no significant relationship with low coverage of exclusive breastfeeding in the Penfui Health Center area. The conclusion in this study is that knowledge, information exposure and family support are related to exclusive breastfeeding. and the support of health workers, mothers' work and health status are related to the low coverage of exclusive breastfeeding in the work area of the Penfui Health Center. Mothers should further increase their awareness and willingness to provide exclusive breastfeeding even though they are busy with work to increase the coverage of Exclusive Breastfeeding.

Abstract

Sanitation is an effort made by humans to create and ensure environmental conditions (especially the physical environment, including soil, water, and air) that meet health requirements. Hospital sanitation is a part of hospital environmental health, aimed at reducing adverse effects such as bacterial contamination and hazardous substances in the hospital environment, which can lead to disease transmission and infection occurrences. This study aims to describe the sanitation conditions of Naibonat Regional General Hospital in Kupang Regency in 2024 using a descriptive quantitative approach, with the research population consisting of all staff members at the hospital. The study results indicate that hospital water health, including drinking water quantity, hygiene and sanitation water quantity, drinking water quality, and hygiene and sanitation water quality, scored 1,400. The health of facilities and buildings, covering visitor toilets, disability toilets, hospital floors, and hospital doors, scored 1,360. Waste management, including domestic solid waste, hazardous and toxic solid waste (B3), and liquid waste, scored 800, while linen management, comprising internal and external linen handling, scored 850. These findings provide an overview of the sanitation conditions at Naibonat Regional General Hospital in Kupang Regency.

Abstract

Worms are one of the most common infectious diseases in children. Worm disease is transmitted through food, especially food that has been contaminated with worm eggs. The community service activities are aimed at increasing the knowledge and understanding of school children, as part of an effort to prevent and reduce the prevalence of intestinal worms in children. The service activity begins with distributing pre-test sheets to be filled in by students, this is done to determine the level of students' initial knowledge and understanding of the material to be delivered. Health education efforts are carried out by providing counseling to students regarding clean and healthy lifestyles as well as intestinal worms and prevention efforts. After the counseling was carried out, the team then carried out a post test, to measure students' understanding regarding the material for a clean and healthy lifestyle and intestinal worms. The results of the post test conducted showed an increase in students' knowledge.

Abstract

Background: The practice of providing complementary feeding (MP-ASI) for children aged 6–23 months in Indonesia still faces several challenges. According to Presidential Regulation No. 72 of 2021, the national target for 2024 is that 80% of children aged 6–23 months receive appropriate complementary feeding. Monitoring is conducted quarterly, assessing food diversity and the consumption of eggs, fish, or meat. If feeding practices are found lacking, health cadres provide education to mothers or primary caregivers. One major cause of low animal protein intake is the limited knowledge and awareness among mothers about its nutritional importance. Conventional one-way education methods are often ineffective in changing behavior. Therefore, technology-based approaches such as multimedia education are considered more effective due to their visual, auditory, and interactive elements. Objective: To determine the effect of multimedia education on animal-protein-rich complementary feeding on the nutritional intake of children aged 6–24 months in Jayapura City. Methods: A quantitative study using a pre-experimental one group pretest-posttest design was conducted at Hamadi Public Health Center, Jayapura City. The study used total sampling, involving 170 mothers of children aged 6–24 months who visited posyandu in the area. Data were analyzed using the Paired Samples t-test. Results: Multimedia education significantly improved maternal knowledge, attitudes, and the intake of energy, protein, and calcium (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Multimedia-based education on animal-protein-rich complementary feeding effectively enhances knowledge, attitudes, and nutrient intake, supporting IGF-1 hormone production and contributing to stunting reduction efforts.
