Abstract

The quality of scientific research is largely determined by the accuracy of the data collection techniques employed. This article provides an in-depth examination of data collection methods based on the methodological perspective of John W. Creswell, a prominent figure in the field of research methodology. The analysis focuses on the three principal approaches developed by Creswell: quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods. In the quantitative approach, Creswell emphasizes the use of surveys, experiments, and validated measurement instruments to produce statistically analyzable data. The qualitative approach highlights in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis as tools to understand the subjective meanings of human experiences. Meanwhile, the mixed methods approach allows for the systematic integration of quantitative and qualitative data to gain a more comprehensive understanding of research phenomena. The findings indicate that Creswell’s framework offers a comprehensive methodological guide, enabling researchers to select the most appropriate techniques based on research objectives, context, and complexity. Thus, understanding Creswell’s approach plays a vital role in designing research that is valid, reliable, and meaningful.

Abstract

This research was conducted based on the needs of students for a learning medium that can overcome problems during the learning process related to the difficulties of students in understanding the concept of the water cycle. The purpose of this study was to determine the response of students in the use of learning media related to the concept of the water cycle in class V science subjects SDN Tapos 02, Tenjo District, Bogor Regency. The research method used is R&D which refers to the Borg & Gall model with adjustments according to the research context at 5 stages: 1) survey and information gathering; 2) product design; 3) product validation; 4) design revisions and improvements; 5) limited trials. Data was obtained through a limited trial conducted on grade V elementary school students. The results of research on the development of the Sigil application as a learning medium show that the average percentage of student response instrument data obtained 89% of the "very good" category, thus the development of the Sigil application as a learning medium on the concept of the water cycle in grade V elementary science subjects developed by researchers is worthy of being a learning media.

Abstract

This article discusses how to develop a Flip Chart as a means of motivation to enhance vocabulary in intensive reading class activities for third-grade elementary school students, to determine the feasibility of the developed Flip Chart, and to determine students’ responses to Flip Chart. The research was conducted at SD Negeri Secang by involving 30 third-grade students with 10 people in detail in a limited trial. The type of research refers to as the Borg and Gall model, which was modified by Sugiyono. This model consisted of six stages, problem analysis, data collection, product design, design validation, design revision, and product trials. The instruments used were media validation questionnaire used by the lecturer and a student questionnaire sheet. Based on the data analysis, it could be summarized that the quality of the developed Flip Chart as media was categorized in the very feasible category with a percentage of 85% based on the two media experts, the very feasible category with a percentage of 81.5% from two linguists, and 90.5% obtained from two material experts. Students’ responses to Flip Chart as media in the trial with 10 respondents were 84% in the very good category.

Abstract

This article reports the development of a mannequin-based artificial lung learning media to find out how fifth-grade students respond at SDN Merak II to use the media. The research indicates the assessment results from media experts obtain an average percentage score of 91.10% in the "Very Feasible" criteria. In addition, the assessment results from material experts obtain an average final score percentage of 88.64% in the "Very Feasible" criteria. If the achievement of the expert validation assessment results was calculated, it can be said that this mannequin-based artificial lung mediaachieved a feasibility test score with an average score of 89.87% through an expert validation test and obtained the "Very Feasibility" category. The results of students’ responses on the development of mannequin-based artificial lung media achieved an average score of 91,36% in the "Very Good" category.

Abstract

This research aimed to develop a contextual learning–based audiovisual media and examine its validity. This study utilized the Research and Development (R&D) method, referring to Borg and Gall’s development model which consisted of six stages: (1) problem analysis, (2) data collection, (3) product design, (4) validation, (5) product revision, and (6) product trial testing. The study was conducted on fourth-grade students at SD Negeri Salatuhur. Based on the validity examined by the experts—media expert, language expert, and material expert—the average score of the validity from the media expert was 92% in the very feasible category. The average validity score from the material expert was 85.49% in the very feasible category. Meanwhile, the average validity score from the language expert was 94.16%, also in the very feasible category. Moreover, the results of students’ responses obtained a score of 97.49% in the very feasible category. Based on the research results, the final product of a contextual learning–based audiovisual media on the material of energy sources and their changes was feasible to be utilized for learning activities of fourth-grade elementary school students.

Abstract

Online learning during the pandemic needs animated videos as learning media in science subjects at the fourth grade of elementary school. This research aimed to develop kinemaster based animation learning videos in science subjects using the ADDIE development model (analyze, design, development, implementation, and evaluation). The stages to be carried out included (a) analyzing the knowledge or competence of the target, the characteristics of the target, and the equipment that supports the use of the media, (b) designing the transferred information from the analysis phase into the form of a document aiming of making a learning video, (c) developing learning videos; the core of this activity was taking pictures or animated motion videos with an internet connection, in which the video development was carried out by using several applications, namely the kinemaster and the tubemate application. The implementation phase included implementing learning videos for fourth-grade elementary school students. Finally, the evaluation stage included the assessment of the learning media in the form of a questionnaire. The results of this development research were the animated learning videos for science learning to assist students in increasing their understanding of material concepts. The validation results from material experts showed an average of 94.3% on material, and the learning aspects with qualitative criteria were very feasible. Then, the result from media experts got an average of 87% with very decent qualitative criteria. At the same time, the students’ responses obtained an average of 97%, with very good criteria. Thus, this learning video facilitated the learning process from home so that students easily understood the concepts of science subjects on the material of force and motion of objects.
