Abstract

Background: Tanggamus Regency is one of the largest producers of Robusta coffee in Lampung Province and holds significant potential for the development of coffee-based agro-industry focused on downstream processing. However, most farmers still sell their produce in the form of green beans, resulting in relatively low value-added economic outcomes and dependence on market price fluctuations. Objective: This study aims to analyze the business feasibility of establishing a Robusta ground coffee processing unit as an effort to increase the value added of local commodities and empower the local economy. Methods: This study uses a quantitative descriptive approach, analyzing market and marketing aspects, technical and production aspects, human resource management aspects, legal aspects, and financial aspects. Data were collected through field observations, interviews, and literature reviews related to the coffee industry. Results: The results indicate that market demand for locally processed coffee continues to rise, while the availability of raw materials in Tanggamus Regency is sufficient to support sustainable production. Financial analysis using Net Present Value (NPV), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), Net Benefit–Cost Ratio (Net B/C), and Payback Period (PP) indicators shows that the business is feasible and profitable to develop. Conclusion: The development of a Robusta ground coffee processing business in Tanggamus Regency is financially viable and strategically supports agricultural downstream processing. This business contributes to increasing the added value of local coffee commodities, improving farmers’ economic welfare, strengthening regional competitiveness, and supporting sustainable local economic development.

Abstract

Kabupaten Pesawaran merupakan salah satu sentra agroforestri kopi pada kawasan Hasil Hutan Bukan Kayu (HHBK) dengan potensi produksi kopi robusta dan arabika yang signifikan. Proses honey sosoh menghasilkan biji kopi berkualitas, namun juga menimbulkan limbah kulit kopi (cascara) yang belum dimanfaatkan optimal dan berpotensi mencemari lingkungan. Cascara mengandung senyawa bioaktif yang dapat dikembangkan menjadi produk bernilai tambah, seperti teh herbal dan eco-enzyme berbasis kulit kopi ceri. Melalui pendekatan circular economy, limbah cascara diubah menjadi sumber daya baru yang mendukung keberlanjutan pertanian sekaligus meningkatkan nilai ekonomi masyarakat. Program pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilaksanakan bersama Kelompok Agroforestri Lestari pada tanggal 26 Juli 2025 melalui metode penyuluhan, demonstrasi cara, dan pelatihan partisipatif. Kegiatan difokuskan pada peningkatan pengetahuan dan keterampilan mitra dalam mengolah cascara menjadi teh herbal serta produk eco-enzyme. Hasil pelaksanaan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan kapasitas mitra dan antusiasme dalam mengembangkan produk turunan, termasuk sabun, pupuk organik cair (POC), dan sanitizer. Implementasi circular economy pada pengolahan cascara terbukti mampu mengurangi limbah sekaligus mendorong inovasi produk ramah lingkungan yang memperkuat ketahanan ekonomi lokal.

Abstract

Tanggamus Regency is one of the main producers of Robusta coffee in Lampung Province; however,the added value enjoyed by farmers is still limited to the sale of raw coffee beans (green beans). This study aims to analyze the business feasibility of establishing a Robusta ground coffee processing unit to increase the economic value of local commodities and community economic empowerment. The research method used is descriptive quantitative by evaluating five main aspects of business feasibility: market and marketing aspects,technical and production aspects,human resource management aspects,legal aspect,and financial aspects. Data were obtained through field observations,interviews with stakeholders, and trend analysis of the contemporary coffee market. The results of the analysis indicate that from the market aspect,the demand for locally processed coffee continues to increase in line with the lifestyle trends of quality coffee consumption. From the technical aspect,the abundant availability of raw materials in Tanggamus ensures production sustainability. Analysis of the financial aspect using indicators such as Net Present Value (NPV), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), Payback Period, and Net Benefit /Cost Ratio shows that this business has positive profit prospects and is feasible to implement. Coffee is a leading commodity for farmers in Lampung and its surroundings (South Sumatra and Bengkulu ). In 2019,the coffee production share of these three provinces reached 49 % of the national productions (BPS Lampung Province,2020). Robusta coffee is the largest agricultural crop in Indonesia produced in Lampung province, with an are of 162,954 hectares and production reaching 131,501 tons, with an average production capacity of 965 kg /ha. This study concludes that the development of the Robusta ground coffee industry in Tanggamus Regency is not only financially feasible but also strategic. In creating new job opportunities and strengthening the branding of regional coffee in the national market.

Abstract

This study aims to identify actors in collective marketing channels and analyze the collective marketing performance of coffee beans in Lampung Province, Indonesia. Research samples are 50 coffee farmers in West Lampung Regency, randomly selected from farmer groups. The analytical method used to assess the collective marketing performance was marketing margin analysis.”The results showed that many actors were involved in the marketing channel, including collectors, wholesalers, farmer groups, Federate Farmers Groups, Joint Business Groups, and exporters.”Their involvement increased the handling costs during the marketing process. There are four collective marketing channels of coffee beans identified in this research.”Based on the results of marketing margin analysis, it is known that the most efficient collective marketing channel is direct selling to Joint Business Group.”

Abstract

The arising problem in South Lampung Regency is that the pattern of cattle breeding runs on people's businesses scale related to other farming.  The farmers established partnerships with feedlots to tackle the hardships of developing cattle breeding for more effective and efficient results. The disproportionate structure of cattle breeding should be analyzed carefully. This research aims to analyze the feasibility of a cattle breeding partnership in the two cattle breeding centers of the South Lampung Regency.  The data were quantitatively analyzed with feasibility analysis and the indicators are NPV (Net Present Value), Net B / C (Net Benefit Cost Ratio), PP (Payback Period), and IRR (Internal Rate of Return.  The research results indicate that the profit scheme is IDR 20,353,930. As the Net B/C ratio is higher than 1, the business is feasible. Also, the IRR value of 29.9% signifies that the business is economically feasible.
