Abstract

This study investigates the implementation of the Alef Education platform in English learning at MTs Negeri Gunungsitoli as a model of digital pedagogical innovation in Islamic secondary education. The research aims to: (1) describe the planning and integration process of Alef Education, (2) analyze its instructional practices, and (3) evaluate its pedagogical impact. A qualitative descriptive method with a case study design was applied. Participants included English teachers and students from grades VIII and IX. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed thematically following Braun and Clarke’s framework. Results indicate that Alef Education enhances student engagement through interactive exercises, automated feedback, and curriculum alignment. Institutional support, teacher readiness, and learner motivation emerged as enabling factors, while limited internet connectivity and uneven digital literacy were key constraints. Effective practices include lesson plan integration, automated assessment use, and continuous teacher mentoring. The study concludes that Alef Education can improve English learning outcomes when supported by adequate ICT infrastructure, adaptive pedagogy, and sustained professional development.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the social condition of Islamic education in Gunungsitoli, the contribution of the Ummi Kalsum Islamic Boarding School in Islamic Education in Gunungsitoli, and the involvement of alumni of the Ummi Kalsum Islamic Boarding School in the development of Islamic and social education in Gunungsitoli. The method used in this study is a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. Data collection techniques with observation, interviews, and document studies. The results of the research in this thesis first; highlight that the development of Islamic education in Gunungsitoli is not as fast as in areas with a majority Muslim population. The main factor influencing this is Gunungsitoli's status as an area with a minority Muslim population, which makes Islamic education have to compete with other education systems that may be more dominant. In this context, the biggest challenge is how to increase the attractiveness of Islamic education in the midst of the diversity of society. Second; the contribution of the pesantren extends to the surrounding community through various service activities. Pesantren actively organizes programs such as religious counseling, social service skills training, and community-based economic empowerment activities. These activities are designed to provide real benefits to the community, while strengthening the role of pesantren as a center for the development of the people. Third; the contribution of alumni who return to Gunungsitoli to teach, become religious leaders, and support the construction of Islamic boarding schools. Alumni of the pesantren function as a liaison that strengthens the social network between the pesantren and the community.

Abstract

Character education at the elementary school level plays a strategic role in shaping students’ moral awareness and attitudes, particularly the value of responsibility as a foundation of ethical behavior in Islam. However, empirical studies examining how the value of responsibility is represented in Islamic Religious Education textbooks remain limited. This study aims to systematically analyze the representation and alignment of responsibility values in elementary school Islamic Religious Education textbooks. Employing a qualitative approach with a content analysis design, this study examines textbooks for Grades 1, 2, and 3 used in the national curriculum. Data were analyzed through coding and categorization of responsibility values into personal, social, and ecological dimensions. The findings reveal that responsibility values are predominantly represented through personal and social dimensions, particularly in the form of habituation of religious practices, discipline, cleanliness, care for others, and role modeling of Islamic figures, while the ecological dimension of responsibility remains limited and unevenly distributed across grade levels. These findings indicate that textbooks function as important instruments for character formation but require stronger reflective approaches and a more balanced integration of responsibility dimensions. The implications of this study are relevant for curriculum development, textbook writing, and instructional practices in Islamic Religious Education that are more holistic and contextual.

Abstract

Kata kunci: analisis fenomenologi interpretatif (IPA), dosen, kecerdasan buatan, pendidikan tinggi Abstract The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly influencing learning practices in higher education, both in pedagogical effectiveness and in the dynamics of academic interaction. This study analyzes how lecturers in Indonesia and Malaysia interpret and practice the use of AI while identifying factors that form similarities and differences. A qualitative approach with a comparative case study design was used, involving 30 lecturers through narrative surveys and semi-structured interviews. The data were analyzed using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) and thematic analysis. The results show that AI is considered a tool that improves the efficiency of academic work and supports the development of learning materials. However, there are concerns about student dependency, decreased critical thinking skills, and the accuracy of AI output. Differences between countries can be seen in the depth of integration: Malaysian lecturers tend to use AI more intensively in learning activities, while Indonesian lecturers are more cautious and emphasize manual verification. Institutional policy factors, digital literacy, and academic culture also influence these variations. The findings emphasize the value of developing clear AI policies and strengthening ethical literacy for faculty and students.
