Abstract

Knowledge is obtained through human sensory perception, particularly hearing and sight, and plays an important role in shaping individuals’ understanding of health conditions. Patient anxiety prior to cardiac catheterization is one of the factors that may affect psychological readiness. This study aimed to examine the relationship between the level of knowledge and patient anxiety before undergoing cardiac catheterization at Mayapada Hospital Tangerang. This study employed a correlational design with a cross-sectional approach. The population consisted of all patients scheduled for elective cardiac catheterization, with a total sample of 30 patients selected using total sampling. Data were collected using knowledge and anxiety questionnaires and analyzed using the chi-square test. The results showed that there was no significant relationship between the level of knowledge and patient anxiety prior to cardiac catheterization (p = 0.282; p > 0.05). In conclusion, the level of knowledge was not associated with patient anxiety before cardiac catheterization, indicating that anxiety may be influenced by other factors. Further studies are recommended to explore other factors that may affect patient anxiety prior to cardiac catheterization.

Abstract

Urinary tract infection (UTI) is one of the most common infectious diseases in childhood. Urinary tract infections can be caused by a variety of microorganisms, such as bacteria, viruses, and fungi, but this infectious disease is more often caused by bacteria. To determine the relationship between maternal knowledge about toddler genital hygiene and the incidence of urinary tract infection (UTI) in toddlers at the Mayapada Hospital Pediatric Clinic in 2023. This study used a cross sectional design, with a sample size of 34 respondents, the instrument used was a questionnaire. Based on the results of the study, poor maternal knowledge about genital hygiene with toddlers diagnosed with UTIs was 9 respondents (26.5%) while good maternal knowledge about genital hygiene with toddlers who were not diagnosed with UTIs was 9 respondents (26.5%). The p-value of 0.011 <0.05 was obtained, which means that there is a relationship between maternal knowledge about genital hygiene of toddlers with the incidence of urinary tract infections (UTI).

Abstract

This study involved 66 respondents to examine the relationship between nurses’ therapeutic communication and anxiety levels among preoperative patients at Mayapada Hospitals Tangerang. The respondents’ characteristics showed that the dominant age group was 31–65 years, with most respondents being female. In terms of educational background, the majority were senior high school graduates, and regarding occupation, most worked as private-sector employees. The results also indicated that respondents’ assessments of nurses’ therapeutic communication were mostly in the good category, while preoperative anxiety levels were generally mild. The chi-square analysis yielded a p-value of 0.023 (< 0.05); therefore, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted, indicating a significant relationship between nurses’ therapeutic communication and preoperative patients’ anxiety levels. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that nurses’ therapeutic communication plays an important role in influencing preoperative patients’ anxiety. This study is expected to be applied more specifically to preoperative patients to determine the effect of therapeutic communication in reducing patients’ anxiety levels.
