Abstract

Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui jenis-jenis gerakan dan fungsi gerakan tertentu dalam mengajar dan aktivitas belajar, terutama dalam tiga kegiatan domain, mereka adalah: kegiatan menyapa, kegiatan mengajar dan kegiatan Tanya jawab. Penelitian ini dilakukan di SMPN 2 Sawan. Penelitian ini adalah desain dengan menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif dimana data yang terkumpul dianalisis secara kualitatif. Ada enam instrumen untuk mengumpulkan data, mereka adalah: catatan lapangan, kamera, checklist pengamatan, pedoman wawancara, handphone dan peralatan menulis. Peneliti melakukan penelitian ini sampai studi jenuh atau tidak ada perubahan dari gerakan yang digunakan oleh guru bahasa Inggris. Teori didukung oleh gerakan guru bahasa Inggris yang digunakan di dalam kelas maka peneliti juga ingin mengetahui jenis gerakan dalam tiga kegiatan dan fungsi gesture tertentu dalam tiga kegiatan. Kata Kunci : Kata kunci : gerakan dan aktivitas belajar mengajar Bahasa inggris Abstract This study was aimed at finding out the kinds of gestures and the functions of certain gestures in teaching and learning activity, especially in three domain activities, those were: greeting, delivering and asking & answering activities. This study was conducted at SMPN 2 Sawan. This study was design by using qualitative descriptive approach in which the data collected were analyzed qualitatively. There were six instrument to collect the data, those were: field notes, camera, observation checklist, guidance interview, hand phone and writing equipment. The researcher conducted this study until the study stuck or there was no change of the gesture used by English teacher. The data were transcribed and analyzed to find out the kinds of gestures and the function of certain gestures. Based on the theory from McNeil (2005) there were four types of gesture, and each types had kind gestures. The theory supported by English teacher gestures used in the classroom then the researcher also wanted to find out the kind of gesture in three activities and function of certain gesture in three activities. keyword : Keywords: Gesture, English teaching and learning activities

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan yang signifikan yang terjadi antara preferensi gaya belajar persepsi dan pemahaman bacaan siswa dari siswa kelas dua belas di SMA N 2 Amlapura. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif yang menjelaskan korelasi antara dua variabel, gaya belajar perspsi sebagai variabel bebas dan pemahaman membaca siswa sebagai variabel terikat. Populasi dari penelitian ini adalah semua siswa kelas dua belas di SMAN N 2 Amlapura yang terdiri dari 278 siswa. Sampel ditentukan dengan menggunakan teknik random sampling dan mendapatkan 72 siswa sebagai sampel. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan analisis statistik deskriptif dan inferensial. Rerata pemahaman siswa membaca yang diambil dari nilai tes membaca mereka adalah 79,86. Analisis statistik inferensial dalam penelitian ini adalah menggunakan Point-Biserial koefisien korelasi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa semua Sig. dari gaya belajar persepsi yaitu 0,289 (Visual), 0,906 (Auditory), 0,546 (Kinestetik), 0.271 (Tactile), 0.382 (Group) dan 0,057 (Individual) dan semuanya lebih rendah dari tingkat signifikan (0,05). Nilai Sig. menunjukkan tidak adanya korelasi yang signifikan antara preferensi gaya belajar persepsi dan pemahaman membaca siswa dari siswa kelas dua belas di SMA N 2 Amlapura. Hasil juga menunjukkan bahwa hanya gaya belajar individu yang memiliki hubungan positif lemah (r = 0,226). gaya belajar kinestetik adalah gaya belajar yang banyak digunakan oleh siswa (30,5%).Kata Kunci : korelasi, preferensi gaya belajar persepsi, pemahaman membaca siswa This study aimed at investigating the correlation between perceptual learning style preference and student’s reading comprehension of twelfth grade students in SMA N 2 Amlapura. This study was descriptive quantitative which described on the correlation between two variables, perceptual learning style as the independent variable and students’ reading comprehension as the dependent variable. The population of this study was all of twelfth grade students in SMAN N 2 Amlapura which were consisted of 278 students. The sample was determined by using random sampling technique and got 72 students as sample. The data was analysed by using descriptive and inferential statistical analysis. The mean of student reading comprehension which was taken from their reading test score was 79.86. The inferential statistical analysis in this study used Point-Biserial Correlation coefficient. The results of this study shows that all Sig. of learning style were 0.289 (Visual), 0.906 (Auditory), 0.546 (Kinesthetic), 0.271 (Tactile), 0.382 (Group) and 0.057 (Individual) and all of Sig. values were over than level of significant (0.05). The value of Sig. shows there is no significant correlation perceptual learning style preference and students’ reading comprehension of twelfth grade students at SMA N 2 Amlapura. The result also shows that there was only individual learning style which has weak positive relationship (r = 0.226). Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengtahui korelasi antara strategi belajar regulasi diri dan prestasi belajar bahasa Inggris kelas 10 di SMA Negeri 2 Banjar, dan strategi regulasi diri yang paling sering digunakan oleh siswa kelas 10 di SMA Negeri 2 Banjar. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain ex-post facto dengan studi korelasi yang melibatkan 152 siswa sebagai sampel penelitian. Data dalam studi ini didapatkan melalui penyebaran kuisioner dan pengoleksian daftar nilai bahasa Inggris siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan:1) terdapat korelasi yang signifikan antara strategi belajar regulasi diri dengan prestasi belajar bahasa Inggris siswa di SMA Negeri 2 Banjar, dan 2) strategi regulasi diri dalam belajar secara berpasangan merupakan strategi belajar regulari diri yang paling sering digunakan oleh siswa. Kata Kunci : Strategi Belajar Regulasi Diri, Prestasi Belajar Bahasa Inggris This study aimed at finding out the correlation between self-regulated learning strategies and the 10th grade student’s English achievement at SMA Negeri 2 Banjar and the most frequent self-regulated learning strategies used by the 10th grade students at SMA Negeri 2 Banjar. The design of this research was an ex-post facto research using correlational study involving 152 students as the population sample. The data of the study were obtained through questionnaire and record keeping document related with the student’s English achievement. The result of the study shows that: 1) there is a significant correlation between self-regulated learning strategies and 10th grade student’s English achievement at SMA Negeri 2 Banjar, and 2) the most frequent self-regulated learning strategies used by the 10th grade students at SMA Negeri 2 Banjar is peer learning strategies. keyword : Self-regulated Learning Strategies, English Achievement

Abstract

Penelitian evaluasi ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kompetensi pedagogik guru - guru bahasa inggris didalam merencanakan, melaksanakan pembelajaran dan mengevaluasi hasil pembelajaran. Subjek dari penelitian ini adalah guru – guru bahasa inggris di SMP N 1 Dawan dan SMP N 3 Dawan. Data dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan lima instrumen, yaitu perekam, rubrik penilaian, penilai, kuesioner,dan pedoman wawancara. Data yang terkumpul dianalisis dengan menggunakan rubrik penilaian diisi oleh penilai. Data disajikan secara deskriptif. Hasil data analisis menunjukan bahwa kompetensi dua guru bahasa inggris didalam merencanakan pembelajaran dikategorikan sangat baik dan tiga guru dikategorikan baik. Dua guru perlu belajar bagaimana cara mendesain penilaian pembelajaran yang dimana dalam teknik, prosedur, instrumen, masih belum jelas. Akan tetapi, di dalam melakasanakan pembelajaran, dua guru dikategorikan sangat baik, satu guru dikategorikan baik dan dua guru dikategorikan sedang. Dua guru masih memiliki masalah, mereka merasa sulit untuk memilih pendekatan/ strategi yang sesuai dan memiliki sedikit pengetahuan tentang pemanfaatan sumber dan media pembelajaran. Mereka perlu melakukan refleksi disetiap akhir pembelajaran untuk mengetahui kesalahan mereka dan mereka akan memperbaiki dipertemuan selanjutnya. Sedangkan, di dalam mengevaluasi hasil pembelajaran, dua guru dikategorikan sangat baik dan tiga guru dikategorikan baik. Kata Kunci : Mengevaluasi hasil pembelajaran, Merencanakan pembelajaran, melakasanakan pembelajaran, Kompetensi pedagogik. This evaluative study aimed to analyze English teachers’ pedagogical competence in terms of planning, implementing the lesson and evaluating the learning outcomes. The subjects of this study were English teachers at SMP N 1 Dawan and SMP N 3 Dawan. The data were collected by using five instruments, namely recorder, evaluation rubric, evaluator, questionnaires and interview guide. The data gathered were analyzed by using evaluation rubric that was filled by the evaluator. The data were presented descriptively. The results of data analysis showed that the competence in planning the lesson, two teachers are categorized as very good, and three teachers are categorized as good. Two teachers need to learn how to design learning evaluation in since the technique, procedure and instrument are not clear. However, in terms of implementing the lesson, two teachers are categorized as very good, one teacher is categorized as good and two other teachers are categorized as average. Two teachers still have problems, they feel difficult to choose appropriate approach /learning strategies and have little knowledge about utilization of resource / instructional media. They need to conduct reflection in every end of the lesson to know their mistakes and they will improve it for next meeting. Meanwhile, in term of evaluating the learning outcomes, two teachers are categorized as very good and three teachers are categorized as good. keyword : Evaluating the learning outcomes, Implementing the lesson, Planning the lesson, Pedagogical Competence.

Abstract

Penelitian bertujuan untuk mencari tahu pergantian pola bahasa yang dihasilkan oleh ungkapan penyiar radio di Phoenix Radio. Penilitian lebih mencari persentasi perubahan pola, jenis perubahan pola dan alasan penyiar melakukannya. Data dijelaskan dengan menggunakan cara penjelasan qualitative. Penelitian menggunakan rekaman, wawancara dan observasi untuk memecahkan masalah yang ada. Penelitian di analisis dengan menyalin data, mengkodekan,mengkelompokan dan menghitung data yang di dapat dan di masukan ke dalam table. Peneliti menemukan 0.42% (1) adalah pola pergantian menambahkan diposisi terendah. Yang paling banyak adalah pola pergantian kata 81.78% (193) dan pola perubahan kalimat 17.80% (42) dari 236 pola perubahan dari 946 kalimat. Ada beberapa alasan yang telah di hasilkan sesuai dengan Holmes seperti ciri-ciri istimewa dan topic. Ciri-ciri istimewa dibagi menjadi spesifikasi lawan bicara, tanda pengenal, sopan santun dan status sosial. Pola pergantian bahasa bisa membantu orang untuk belajar bahasa lain melalui memahaminya dalam bentuk konteks kata lalu kalimat.Kata Kunci : Pola pergantian bahasa, ciri-ciri keistimewaan, topik The study aimed to find out switching that produced broadcaster’s speech in Phoenix Radio. The study was focus to find out the percentage of the switching, the types of code switching produced and the reasons underlying the switching. The data explained in the descriptive qualitative research. This study used recording, interviewing and observing to solve the problem. The study was analyzed by transcribing the data, codifying, classifying and calculating the data and inserting to the table. The research was found that the broadcasters were produced 0.42% (1) was tag switching as the less dominant switching. The most dominant was from the intrasentential switching that was 81.78% (193) and intersentential switching was 17.80% (42) from the 236 switching in 946 utterances. There are some reasons that underlying the switching was produced accordance to Holmes such as participant’s features and topic. The participant features involved addressee specification, ethnic identity marker, express solidarity and assert social status. Code switching can help people to learn others language through mastering in the form of word context and then utterance.keyword : Code switching, participants features, topic

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan membaca siswa melalui penggunaan strategi PARTS sebagai strategi mengajar. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI IPA 7 SMA Negeri 6 Denpasar yang terdiri atas 39 siswa, 20 laki-laki dan 19 perempuan. Penelitian ini merupakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas yang dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus.Masing-masing siklus terdiri atas tiga sesi, di mana dua sesi digunakan untuk mengimplementasikan strategi PARTS dan satu sesi digunakan untuk mengevaluasi siswa. Data dalam penelitian ini dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan buku harian peneliti, tes, dan kuisioner. Kemudian data tersebut dianalisis secara kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Masalah yang muncul ditemukan dari hasil pre-test. Hasil pre-test menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata-rata siswa 58.33 dan hanya 12,82% dari seluruh siswa yang mampu mencapai standar kentuntasan minimum yang disyaratkan sekolah, yaitu 75. Setelah siswa diberikan perlakuan dengan strategi PARTS di siklus pertama, nilai rata-rata siswa meningkat menjadi 70,51 dan 61,51% dari jumlah siswa mampu mencapai standar ketuntasan minimum. Sedangkan siswa yang masih menghadapi masalah dalam membaca dapat dibantu dalam siklus kedua. Nilai rata-rata siswa dalam tes membaca di siklus kedua adalah 79,87 dan seluruh siswa mampu mencapai standar ketuntasan minimum. Peningkatan nilai siswa tersebut menunjukkan bahwa pengimplementasian strategi PARTS dapat meningkatkan kemampuan membaca siswa. Kata Kunci : strategi PARTS, kemampuan membaca, Penlitian Tindakan Kelas This study was aimed at improving students’ reading competency through the use of PARTS strategy. The subjects of this study were XI IPA 7 students of SMA Negeri 6 Denpasar which consisted of 39 students that included 20 females and 19 males. This research was in the form of classroom based action research which was conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consisted of three sessions, in which two sessions were intended for implementing the PARTS strategy and one session was intended for evaluating the students. The data were collected by using researcher’s diary, test and questionnaire. Then the data were analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. The existing problem was found from the result of pre-test. It was showed that the mean score was 58.33 and there were only 12.82% of the students could pass the standard passing score required by the school, which is 75. After the students were given the treatment of PARTS strategy in the first cycle, the mean score increased to 70.51 and 61.51% of the students could pass the standard passing score. Meanwhile reading problem that still faced by the rest of students could be overcome on cycle II. The mean score of reading test on cycle II was 79.87 and all of the students could pass the standard passing score. That improvement showed that the implementation of PARTS strategy can successfully improve students’ reading competency. keyword : PARTS strategy, reading competency, Classroom based Action Research

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan Big Book berbasis karakter sebagai media pengajaran bahasa inggris siswa kelas dua SD di SD Laboratorium UNDIKSHA Singaraja. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas dua SD Laboratorium UNDIKSHA Singaraja. Data diperoleh dengan menggunakan beberapa instrumen penelitian, seperti lembar observasi, pedoman wawancara, kuesioner guru, kuesioner siswa, dan rubrik. Model desain Sugiyono (2011) digunakan sebagai prosedur penelitian saat ini. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis secara kuantitatif maupun kualitatif. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan persentase frekuensi, kemudian dijelaskan secara kualitatif. Dari hasil tersebut, media baru dikembangkan, dinilai oleh para ahli, direvisi, dicoba, dianalisis dan dikategorikan ke skala rating tertentu. Dari hasil buku besar yang dikembangkan adalah "Get Dressed", "Days of the week", "Greeting", "Little Dog" Doggy ". Buku besar itu bisa digunakan secara efektif di sekolah dan media yang dikembangkan dikategorikan sebagai media yang sangat baik. Kata Kunci : Big book, pegembangan media, pembelajaran usia dini, pendidikan karakter This study aimed to develop character based Big Book as a media for literacy program at second grade students of elementary school in SD Laboratorium UNDIKSHA Singaraja.the subject of this study was second grade students in SD Laboratorium UNDIKSHA Singaraja. The data were gained by using some research instrument, such as observation sheet, interview guide, teacher questionnaire, students’ questionnaire, and rubric. Sugiyono (2011) design model was employed as the present research procedure. The data obtain were analyzed quantitatively as well as qualitatively. The data were analyzed by using percentage of frequency, then, described qualitatively. From the result, the new media were developed, judged by the experts, revised, tried out, analyze and categorized to certain rating scale. From the result the big book developed are “Get Dressed”, “Days of the week”, “Greeting”, “Little dog “Doggy”. The big book could be used effectively in schools and the media developed were categorized as excellent media.keyword : big book, character education, media development, teaching young learners

Abstract

The objectives of the research entitled “An Analysis of Students’ Grammatical Error In Writing Descriptive Text made by the Second Grade Students at SMP Negeri 2 Seririt” were: 1) to find out the grammatical error which are made by students in writing descriptive text, 2) to know the cause of grammatical errors which are made by students in writing descriptive text. The subjects of this study were all students in VIIIE at SMP Negeri 2 Seririt Academic Year 2015/2016. The data were obtained from collecting students’ writing task. The data were analyzed descriptively based on Dulay, Burt, Krashen’s theory. The result of this study shows that: 1) the total amount of error made by students in their writing were 420 errors. The types of students’ error included omission type with 228 errors (54.28%), the second is errors in misformation with 107 errors (25.47%), the third is errors in addition with 60 errors (14.28%), and the last error in misordering with 25 errors (5.95%).Kata Kunci : grammatical error, descriptive analysis, cause of students’ errors The objectives of the research entitled “An Analysis of Students’ Grammatical Error In Writing Descriptive Text made by the Second Grade Students at SMP Negeri 2 Seririt” were: 1) to find out the grammatical error which are made by students in writing descriptive text, 2) to know the cause of grammatical errors which are made by students in writing descriptive text. The subjects of this study were all students in VIIIE at SMP Negeri 2 Seririt Academic Year 2015/2016. The data were obtained from collecting students’ writing task. The data were analyzed descriptively based on Dulay, Burt, Krashen’s theory. The result of this study shows that: 1) the total amount of error made by students in their writing were 420 errors. The types of students’ error included omission type with 228 errors (54.28%), the second is errors in misformation with 107 errors (25.47%), the third is errors in addition with 60 errors (14.28%), and the last error in misordering with 25 errors (5.95%).keyword : grammatical error, descriptive analysis, cause of students’ errors

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk (1) mendeskripsikan jenis penguatan yang digunakan oleh guru di Taman Rama Denpasar TK, (2) menggambarkan pada situasi seperti apa penguatan digunakan oleh guru dalam proses belajar mengajar, (3) mendeskripsikan efektivitas penguatan dalam proses belajar mengajar. Penelitian ini dilakukan dalam bentuk deskriptif kualitatif. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam pengumpulan data adalah: panduan wawancara, perekam video, kamera, dan lembar observasi. Subjek penelitian ini adalah salah satu guru di Taman Rama Denpasar TK. Berdasarkan data yang dikumpulkan dalam studi ini ditemukan bahwa guru menggunakan empat jenis penguatan dalam proses belajar mengajar, mereka adalah hadiah, pujian, hak istimewa, penguatan negatif, dan hukuman yang digunakan untuk memberikan umpan balik kepada siswa yang bisa menjawab dengan benar, untuk membangun suasana yang positif di dalam kelas, untuk mengapresiasi siswa yang sudah melakukan tugas mereka dengan baik dan untuk menangani perilaku siswa yang menghambat proses pembelajaran di kelas. Dalam penelitian ini, pujian adalah penguatan yang paling sering digunakan oleh guru dalam proses belajar mengajar, sedangkan penguatan negatif cukup sering digunakan, dan tiga jenis penguatan lainnya jarang diterapkan oleh guru dalam proses belajar mengajar. Strategi Penguatan terbukti efektif untuk diterapkan didalam mengelola kelas di TK Taman Rama karena siswa akan menjadi termotivasi dan terdorong untuk mengerjakan tugasnya dengan baik serta berperilaku tepat dalam kelas.Kata Kunci : Penguatan, Mengajar, TK This study aimed at (1) describing types of reinforcement using by the teacher in Taman Rama Kindergarten Denpasar, (2) describing the circumstances of certain types of reinforcement used by the teacher in teaching and learning process, (3) describing the effectiveness of reinforcement in teaching and learning process. This research was made in the form of descriptive qualitative. The instruments used in collecting the data were: an interview guide, video recorder, camera, and observation sheet. The subject of this study was one of teacher in Taman Rama Kindergarten Denpasar. The findings of the study shows that the teacher uses four types of reinforcement in teaching and learning process, namely reward, praise, privilege, negative reinforcement, and punishment which used in order to give feedback to the students who could answer correctly, to build positive atmosphere in classroom, to reward them for doing their task and to handle students’ inappropriate behaviors in classroom. In this study, praise was the most commonly reinforcement used by the teacher in teaching and learning process, while negative reinforcement was quite commonly used, and the other three are rarely applied by the teacher in the teaching and learning process. Reinforcement strategy was effectively applied in managing classroom at Taman Rama Kindergarten since the students began to be motivated and encouraged to keep on task and behave appropriately in the classroom.keyword : Reinforcement, Teaching, Kindergarten

Abstract

Penelitian ini ditujukan untuk menganalisis tipe dari alih kode bahasa, fungsi alih kode bahasa, dan alasan penggunaan alih kode bahasa yang digunakan oleh guru bahasa Inggris sebagai strategy komunikasi untuk mengajar Bahasa Inggris sebagai bahasa asing pada kelas sepuluh di SMK N 2 Seririt pada tahun ajaran 2014/2015. Penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Subjek dari penelitian ini adalah seorang guru laki-laki. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah perekam MP3, catatan, dan panduan wawancara. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa ada tiga tipe alih kode bahasa yang digunakan oleh guru bahasa Inggris. Mereka adalah intra-sentential alih kode bahasa (61%), inter-sentential alih kode bahasa (34%), dan inter-personal alih kode bahasa (5%). Ada tujuh fungsi alih kode bahasa yang digunakan oleh guru bahasa Inggris; fungsi pengaturan (4%), fungsi penekanan (18%), fungsi perhatian (6%), fungsi kebutuhan bahasa (32%), fungsi klarifikasi(34%), fungsi hiburan (3%), fungsi perintah (3%). Alasan penggunaan alih kode bahasa adalah untuk membicarakan suatu topik, menegaskan sesuatu, menyisipkan, pengulangan sebagai klarifikasi, maksud untuk menjelaskan isi pembicaraan pada pendengar, menyiapkan siswa untuk bekerja di kehidupan nyata, meningkatkan motivasi belajar bahasa Inggris, membantu siswa menangkap informasi yang diberikan guru, menciptakan atmosfir belajar yang menyenangkan, memberikan perintah atau instruksi. The subject of this study is a male teacher. The instruments used in this study are MP3 recorder, a field note, and an interview guide. The results of this study show that there are three types of code switching used by the English teacher. They are intra-sentential code switching (61%), inter sentential code switching (34%), and inter-personal code switching (5%). There are seven functions of code switching used by the English teacher; regulatory function (4%), emphasis function (18%), attention function (6%), lexicalization function (32%), clarification function (34%), sociolinguistic play function (3%), instruction function (3%). The reasons of using code switching are talking about particular topic, being emphatic about something, interjection, repetition used for clarification, intention of the speech content for the interlocutor, preparing students to work in real life, increasing motivation in learning English, helping students to catch the information given by the teacher, creating a fun learning atmosphere, and giving command or instruction.keyword : Key Words : Code Switching, English Teacher, Communication Strategy, English as a Foreign Language
