Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan perencanaan kegiatan-kegiatan pembelajaran dalam belajar menulis berdasarkan kurikulum 2013 dalam perencanaan pembelajaran guru dan pengimplementasian kegiatan pembelajaran oleh para guru bahasa inggris dalam pembelajaran bahasa inggris. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui analisa dokumen, wawancara, dan pengamatan. Data analisis berdasarkan topic, prosedur inti, prosedur khusus dan komen. Subjek penelitian ini adalah para guru bahasa inggris di kelas delapan dan objek penelitian ini adalah kegiatan pembelajaran yang di rencakanakan dalam prencanaan kgitaian guru dan penerapan kegiatan pembelajaran dikelas. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan (1) kegiatankegiatan pembelajaran yang direncanakan tidak semua di implementasikan di dalam kelas. (2) kedua guru masih kesulitan dalam merencanakan kegiatan pembelajaran di karenakan karena kurangnya interaktif dan semangat siswa.Kata Kunci : kurikulum 2013, kegiatan pembelajaran, pendekatan scientific. The objectives of this study were describing the planning of learning activities in teaching writing based on the Curriculum 2013 in learning activities in the teachers’ lesson plans and the implementation of learning activities based on the Curriculum 2013 and This study was descriptive qualitative. The data were collected through doing document, interview, and observation. The data were analyzed based on topic, main procedures, specific procedures, and comment. The subject was the eighth grade English teachers and the objects of this study were learning activities contained in the lesson plans, and its implementation in the classroom. The result of this study shows (1) the learning activities planned were not fully implemented in the classroom, especially in questioning due to reason: time and classroom situation, and (2) both of teachers were still difficult in designing the learning activities in the lesson plans due to reason: were not interactive and motivating in the learning process.keyword : the Curriculum 2013, learning activities, scientific Approach.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi penokohan Elizabeth Bennet pada novel Pride and Prejudice karangan Jane Austen. Textual analysis digunakan sebagai metode pada penelitian ini untuk menganalisis penokohan Elizabeth Bennet. Sebagai tokoh utama, Elizabeth Bennet digambarkan secara langsung dan tidak langsung melalui penggambaran dari penulis, tokoh lain, perkataan, tindakan dan penampilan. Sebagai wanita yang memiliki kecerdasan tinggi, Elizabeth Bennet mempunyai kecepatan dalam berpikir, kemampuan mengamati dan memahami situasi. Tapi ia memiliki perasangka buruk terhadap tokoh lain, terutama Darcy. Ia juga seorang yang peduli dan perhatian walaupin ia sering mengabaikan peraturan yang ada di masyarakat. Ia memiliki tubuh yang sehat dan kuat. Meskipun ia digambarkan sebagai seorang wanita yang tidak fashionable, tetapi ia mampu menarik perhatian tokoh lain melalui wajah cantik dan mata indahnya. Dari tingkah lakunya, ia digambarkan sebagai seorang yang berbicara secara langsung dan tajam, keras kepala namun periang. Dari semua penokohannya, Elizabeth Bennet bisa di lihat sebagai tokoh yang sempurna. Ia mempunyai watak yang seimbang antara watak positif dan negatif yang terkombinasi sempurna.Kata Kunci : novel, penokohan, tokoh This study aimed at identifying the characterization of Elizabeth Bennet in Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. Textual analysis was applied in this study as the method to analyze the characterization of Elizabeth Bennet. As the main character, Elizabeth Bennet is revealed both directly and indirectly through the description from the author, other character, speech, action and appearance. As a woman with a good intelligence, Elizabeth Bennet has quick wit, ability in observing and sensibility. But she has a bad prejudice to others especially Mr. Darcy. She is also a caring and apprehensive woman though she tends to be a heedless woman who ignores the society rules. She has a healthy and strong body. Although she is an unfashionable woman but she can attract others by her beautiful face and her dark eyes. From her attitude, she is revealed as an outspoken, sharp-tongued, headstrong and cheerful woman. From those characterizations, Elizabeth Bennet can be seen as a perfect character. She has the balance characterization between positive and negative characterization which are combined perfectly.keyword : character, characterization, novel.

Abstract

Mengintegrasikan ICT dalam pembelajaran telah menjadi tuntutan Kurikulum 2013. Namun, tidak semua guru memiliki media untuk mendukung integrasi ICT dalam pembelajaran. Padahal, integrasi ICT dapat membantu para guru untuk mengakomodasi keragaman siswa dengan menggunakan differentiated instruction. Sehingga, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) mengidentifikasi jenis latihan bacaan tambahan yang dibutuhkan oleh siswa kelas tujuh di SMP N 2 Singaraja; (2) mengidentifikasi desain latihan bacaan tambahan elektronik untuk siswa kelas tujuh yang berkemampuan dibawah rata-rata di SMP N 2 Singaraja; (3) mengukur kualitas latihan bacaan tambahan elektronik untuk siswa kelas tujuh yang berkemampuan dibawah rata-rata di SMP N 2 Singaraja. Penelitian ini dilakukan berdasarkan pada desain penelitian dan pengembangan oleh Sugiono (2011). Data penelitian dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner, wawancara, observasi, uji ahli dan studi lapangan. Hasil data dianalisa lebih lanjut dengan menggunakan analisis deskriptif dan Intrerrater Agreement Model dari Gregory (2000). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) latihan membaca tambahan yang dibutuhkan oleh siswa kelas tujuh yang berkemampuan dibawah rata-rata di SMP N 2 Singaraja adalah latihan bacaan tambahan yang terintegrasi dengan ICT; (2) desain latihan bacaan tambahan elektronik untuk siswa kelas tujuh yang berkemampuan dibawah rata-rata di SMP N 2 Singaraja berdasarkan kebutuhan; (3) latihan bacaan tambahan elektronik untuk peserta didik yang lambat dikategorikan sebagai latihan berkualitas tinggi siswa kelas tujuh yang berkemampuan dibawah rata-rata di SMP N 2 Singaraja berdasarkan validitas isi, validitas empiris, kualitas tes media dan bidang. Kata Kunci : Kata kunci: R & D, Differentiated Instruction, Siswa dibawah rata-rata, Latihan tambahan, Latihan Membaca Elektronik. Integrating ICT in learning has become the demands of Curriculum 2013. Yet, not all of the teacher have media to support the integration of ICT in learning. Whereas, the integration of ICT may help the teachers to accomodate students’ diversity by using differentiated instruction. Thus, this study aimed at: (1) identifying kinds of supplementary reading exercises are needed by the Seventh Year Students at SMP N 2 Singaraja; (2) identifying the design of the electronic supplementary reading exercises for the slow learners of seventh year students at SMP N 2 Singaraja; (3) measuring the quality of the electronic supplementary reading exercises for the slow learners of seventh year students at SMP N 2 Singaraja. This study was conducted based on the research and development design proposed by Sugiono (2011). The data of the study were collected through questionnaire, interview, observation, expert judge and field study. The results of the data were further analyzed by using descriptive analysis and interrater agreement model from by Gregory (2000). The result of the study showed that (1) the supplementary reading exercise needed by the seventh year students at SMP N 2 Singaraja was supplementary reading exercise which was integrated with ICT; (2) the design of the electronic supplementary reading exercise for the slow learners was developed based on the needs; (3) the electronic supplementary reading exercise for the slow learners was categorized as high quality exercises based on content validity, empirical validity, quality of the media and field test. keyword : Key words: R&D, Differentiated Instruction, Slow Learners, Supplementary Exercise, Electronic Reading Exercise

Abstract

This study indents to investigate students’ perception of problem-solving skill and influence of Schoology on students’ ability to solve problems used in the criminal course in tertiary education. In reality, this course requires many activities involving students to solve various types of cases. This study used the quasi-experimental method at the class of criminal law. The students were from the Faculty of Law taking a 14 week enrolled in the Criminal course in the second semester. The instruments in this study were test and questionnaire.  Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential analysis. The overall, There are significant differences in problem-solving skills between the students who learn the material of solubility and constant solubility product using Problem-solving learning model through Schoology in the learning activities. Furthermore, this learning model can also be applied to overcome the lack of time allocation for face-to-face learning.

Abstract

Ini merupakan sebuah penelitian eksperimental yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah ada atau tidak perbedaan yang signifikan pada pemahaman membaca siswa kelas 3 SD Baruna Gianyar. Penelitian ini berbentuk Quasi Experimental of Posttest Only Control Group Study. Populasi yang digunakan adalah siswa kelas 3 di SD Baruna Gianyar. Terdapat dua kelas yang dipilih sebagai sampel. IIIA ditetapkan sebagai kelompok eksperimental dan mendapat Big Book sebagai teaching media sedangkan kelas IIIB ditetapkan sebagai kelompok control yang diajar menggunakan media conventional dalam proses belajar mengajar. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis t-test melalui SPSS 16.0. data hasil dari analisis menunjukan bahwa siswa yang diajar menggunakan Big Books sebagai teaching media memperoleh nilai rata-rata yang lebih baik dibandingkan dengan kelompok control. yang mana kelompok eksperimental memperoleh nilai rata-rata 83.8571 sedangkan kelompok control memperoleh nilai rata-rata 78.8571. Hasil dari t-test juga menunjukkan bahwa nilai dari t-observed (tobs) adalah 2.068 dan nilai dari t-critical value (tcv) adalah 1.7334 . Hal itu menunjukkan bahwa nilai dari tobs lebih tinngi dari nilai tcv. Oleh karena itu, dapat disimpulkan bahwa ada perbedaan yang signifikan pada pemahaman mebaca siswa kelas 3 antara siswa yang diajarkan menggunakan Big Books sebagai media dan siswa yang diajarkan menggunakan media konvensional.Kata Kunci : Big Book, media, pemahaman membaca, pembelajaran anak-anak. This is an experimental study that aims to investigate whether or not there is a significant difference in reading comprehension between students who are taught using Big Books as teaching media and thus who were taught using conventional media in grade 3 SD Baruna Gianyar. This quasi experimental study employed Posttest Only Control Group design. The population was taken from the third graders in Baruna Gianyar Elementary School. Two classes were selected as samples in this study class IIIA was designated as experimental group and got Big Books as teaching media while class IIIB was designated as a control group using conventional media in teaching and learning process. The data obtained were analyzed using t-test via SPSS 16.0. The result of the data analysis showed that the students who were taught using Big Books as teaching media gained better average score in comparison to the control group. The experimental was 83.8571 while the control group obtained the average score of 78.8571. The result of t-test also shows that the value of t-observed (tobs) is 2.068 and the value of t-critical value (tcv) is 1.7334. in other words the value of the tobs is higher than the value of tcv. Therefore, it can be concluded that there is a significant effect of the use of Big Books as teaching media on students’ reading comprehension at third grade of elementary school students in SD Baruna Gianyar.keyword : Big Book, Media, Reading Comprhension, teaching young learner.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk (1) mengembangkan ‘Hidden Object Media’ dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris kelas tiga Sekolah Dasar dan (2) mengetahui kualitas dari penggunaan ‘Hidden Object Media’ untuk pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris kelas tiga di SD Lab Undiksha Singaraja. Subjek dari penelitian ini ialah tiga puluh tujuh siswa kelas III Sekolah Dasar di SD Lab Undiksha Singaraja pada semester genap tahun ajaran 2016/2017. Penelitian ini termasuk dalam jenis penelitian pengembangan yang berdasarkan pada lima prosedur ADDIE oleh Branch (2010) meliputi Analisis, Desain, Pengembangan, Implementasi dan Evaluasi. Dalam pelaksanaanya, penelitian ini menggunakan beberapa instrumen yaitu panduan wawancara, lembar observasi, kuesioner, rubrik dan catatan. Pada akhir penelitian ini, dihasilkan prototipe produk yaitu Hidden Object Media dalam bentuk handout. Hasil dari penelitian ini ialah empat buah Hidden Object Media yang dikembangkan berdasarkan silabus kompetensi, silabus analisis serta karakteristik dari media dengan topik Animals serta Body Parts. Setiap media yang dikembangkan terdiri dari panduan guru, cerita pendek, Hidden Object Handout, dan daftar kegiatan lanjutan yang dapat diterapkan. Dalam hal kualitas media, berdasarkan hasil dari pengujian ahli serta kuesioner guru, Hidden Object Media termasuk dalam kategori media yang sangat bagus. Maka dari itu, media ini cocok digunakan untuk pengajaran Bahasa Inggris kelas tiga Sekolah Dasar. Kata Kunci : hidden object media, handout, pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris untuk anak - anak This research aimed to (1) develop ‘Hidden Object Media’ in teaching English for third-grade of elementary school and (2) investigate the quality of ‘Hidden Object Media’ for teaching English at third-grade elementary students in SD Lab Undiksha Singaraja. The subject of this research was thirty seven of third grade students in SD Lab Undiksha Singaraja at even semester academic year 2016/2017. This research categorized as ‘Research and Development’ (R & D) in which it was following five procedures of ADDIE based on Branch (2010). The five procedures consist of Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation. In executing the procedures, some instruments were used to conduct this research. There was interview guide, observation sheet, item of questionnaire, rubric, and notes. In the end of this research, there was a prototype product named hidden object media which was in a form of handout. The result of this research is four hidden object media that were developed based on syllabus competences, syllabus analysis as well as characteristics of media developed based on two topics which are animals and body parts. Each media consist of teacher’s guidelines, brief story, hidden object handout, and list of possible post activities. In term of quality, based on the result of expert judgment and teacher’s questionnaire it was found that hidden object media were categorized as excellent media. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan (1) untuk mengetahui topik yang bisa dikembangkan menjadi buku cerita dwibahasa anak anak (2) mengetahui pendidikan karakter yang dapat dimasukkan ke dalam buku cerita dwibahasa anak anak (3) mengetahui kualitas dari buku cerita dwibahasa. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian dan pengembangan. Alat yang digunakan untuk mengetahui topik adalah dari silabus yang digunakan di SD No.3 Banjar Jawa, sementara alat mengumpulkan data dan mengetahui kualitas buku cerita dwibahasa adalah kuesioner, kuesioner dan penguji ahli. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada 6 topik yang dapat dikembangkan yakni identitas diri (jati diri), kehidupan sekolah, kegiatan dirumah, keluarga, pakaian dan binatang. Sedangkan ada banyak pendidikan karakter yang dapat dimasukkan ke dalam buku cerita dwi bahasa seperti kreatif, peduli lingkungan, peduli social dan lain lain. Untuk kulialitas buku cerita, berdasarkan penilaian guru buku mendapat 194 dan dari penguji ahli 195, dengan ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa buku cerita dwibahasa ini dikategorikan sebagai buku yang sangat baik untuk kelas 6 SD. Kata Kunci : Kata kunci: Buku cerita dwibahasa, topic, pendidikas karakter, kualitas. This research aimed at (1) knowing the topics that are needed to develop a bilingual children storybook, (2) knowing the values are needed to develop the students’ character in the bilingual children storybook, (3) knowing the qualities of the developed bilingual children storybook. This research was RnD. The instrument used to know the topic was by analyzing syllabus which used in SDN 3 Banjar Jawa, while instruments in collecting the data and the quality of the book were questionnaire for students, teacher and expert judges. The result shows that there are six topics that should be developed namely identity, school life, house activity, family, cloth and animal. While there was many character education that could be inserted in the bilingual storybook such as storybook were tolerance , self confidence, friendly, humble, social care, honest, positive thinking, responsibility, hard working, discipline, friendly, religion, creative, positive thinking, and environmental care. For the quality of the book, based on assessment by the teacher, the book got score 194 and by the expert judge got 195, it can be concluded that bilingual children storybook could be categorized as an excellent book for sixth grade students. keyword : Key words: Bilingual Children Storybook, topic, character education, quality.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected educational practices worldwide, including English language teaching and learning practices like teaching speaking courses. It has also shifted face-to-face learning into distance learning modes. Implementing e-portfolios in assessing students' speaking performance seems to be an alternative as this technique could be implemented fully online. However, how well e-portfolios facilitate students' learning engagement in speaking courses, especially during online learning, has been little documented. Thus, this study aims to explore the students' learning engagement and the challenges of implementing e-portfolios in an online speaking course. Using a single case study in an English Language Department at a public education university in Indonesia, the study involved ten participants selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected from various resources, such as phone interviews, videos, and reflection journals, as data/source triangulation. The data were then analyzed using a theoretical thematic analysis technique. The findings revealed that the participants had active participation and showed almost similar engagements in cognitive, affective, and behavioral domains during the online speaking course. However, the students also faced several challenges that inevitably affected their feelings. Few implications are also discussed pertaining to conduct English language teaching practices during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui persepsi guru bahasa Inggris SMA di Kecamatan Buleleng terhadap pendekatan saintifik dalam implementasi kurikulum 2013. Populasi pada penelitian ini adalah guru-guru Bahasa Inggris SMA di Kecamatan Buleleng yang dipilih menjadi sampel dengan teknik acak. Penelitian ini merupakan penetitian deskriptif dengan teknik survei. Istrumen yag digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kuesioner dengan 50 butir pernyataan yang didistribusikan pada sampel. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar guru bahasa inggris SMA di Kecamatan Buleleng memiliki persepsi yang baik terhadap pendekatan saintifik dalam implementasi kurikulum 2013.Kata Kunci: Persepsi, Pendekatan Saintifik, Kurikulum 2013

Abstract

ABSTRACT  This research with purpose to analyse the process of lesson study as a way to improve lecturers’ pedagogical competence is a descriptive qualitative research which conducted direct observation, interview, and documentation. From the result of interview, it was found that there are some problems faced by lecturer model in teaching writing 2 course, unconfident in teaching adult learners, lack of experience, monotone methods and media used, and inappropriate assessment techniques implemented. Moreover, lecturer observer gave some suggestions like choosing variation of methods in teaching based on the topic, the use of innovative media, and assessment techniques which emphasize more on the process. In the implementation stage, it was found that the lecturer model conducted the teaching and learning process based on what have been deal in previous stage with lecturer observer. But, there were still some limitation that should be improved like the use of technology and the ability to explain the material in lecturing section. As the next stage, reflection, FGD was conducted and got the result to revise the planning for the next teaching, like the use of schoology as additional media used to discuss the task given to students and the revision on delivering the material which should include question and answer activity with the students.Keywords : lesson study, pedagogical competenceABSTRAK Penelitian dengan tujuan menganalisis proses lesson study sebagai upaya membina para dosen muda untuk meningkatkan kualitas mengajar ini merupakan penelitian  deskriptif  kualitatif  dengan  melakukan pengamatan langsung atau observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Dari hasil wawancara serta dokumentasi yang dilakukan pada tahap perencanaan lesson study, ditemukan bahwa terdapat beberapa kendala yang dihadapi dosen model saat mengajar mata kuliah Writing 2, diantaranya tidak percaya diri mengajar mahasiswa, kurang pengalaman, penggunaan metode serta media yang monoton, serta teknik penilaian yang belum sesuai. Disamping itu, dosen pengamat/senior memiliki saran-saran perbaikan berupa pemilihan metode yang bervariasi sesuai topic, penggunaan media inovatif, serta penilaian yang berfokus pada penilaian proses. Pada tahap implementasi, ditemukan bahwa dosen model telah melaksanakan pembelajaran sesuai dengan rencana yang disepakati sebelumnya dengan dosen pengamat. Namun terkait pelaksanaannya dalam kelas, masih terdapat beberapa kelemahan yang harus diperbaiki, seperti penggunaan media dan teknologi pembelajaran, serta kemampuan memaparkan materi saat sesi ceramah. Sebagai tahapan berikutnya yakni tahapan refleksi, dilaksanakan FGD yang menghasilkan perbaikan untuk perencanaan serta implementasi tahap berikutnya, seperti penggunaan schoology sebagai media tambahan dalam membahas tugas yang diberikan pada mahasiswa serta penyesuaian cara memaparkan materi dengan menyelipkan tanya jawab sembari tetap menjelaskan materi.Kata Kunci : lesson study, kemampuan mengajar
