Abstract

Empathy, as an aspect of social care, is a central component of character education in Islamic boarding schools. This study aims to explore how experiential learning fosters empathy among students at Pondok Pesantren Al-Khairiyah and to provide recommendations for developing character education based on experience aligned with Islamic values. The study employed a qualitative approach using participatory observation, documentation, and field notes. Data were analyzed using content analysis, including data reduction, thematic categorization, and conceptual synthesis. Results indicate that students’ involvement in cooperative activities, maintaining cleanliness of classrooms, dormitories, kitchens, mosques, and schoolyards, as well as participating in social tasks, strengthens the internalization of empathy. Post-activity reflection and the modeling behavior of teachers further reinforce character development. These activities also foster ecological awareness and collective responsibility, in line with the maslahah principle in Islamic education. All experiential learning activities are part of a curriculum of love, emphasizing care, empathy, and moral-social values, while strengthening social relations among students. The study confirms that experiential learning, when integrated with moral and spiritual values, effectively builds empathy as a foundation of holistic character. Findings provide practical insights for developing experience-based character education in pesantrens and other Islamic educational institutions.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of a love-based curriculum from the perspective of educational service marketing at MTs Darul Hikmah. In the increasingly competitive landscape of Islamic educational institutions, schools are required not only to provide academic achievement but also to offer distinctive values that strengthen their institutional positioning. This research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving the principal, teachers, students, and parents. The findings indicate that the love-based curriculum is implemented through humanistic learning interactions, empathetic communication, persuasive disciplinary practices, and a family-oriented school culture. Teachers play a central role in building emotional connections with students, creating a supportive and comfortable learning environment. From a service marketing perspective, the values of love are reflected in the elements of people, process, and institutional image, which contribute to building trust and parental loyalty. The study concludes that a love-based curriculum functions not only as a pedagogical approach but also as a positioning strategy that enhances the competitiveness and reputation of the institution.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology has posed significant challenges to students’ character formation, particularly for Islamic educational institutions that emphasize not only cognitive achievement but also moral and spiritual development. This study aims to analyze the concept, implementation, and contribution of a Love-Based Curriculum in shaping students’ character at SDIT Kamiliyah Palembang. The research employs a qualitative descriptive approach with a case study design. The participants consisted of one principal, three teachers, and six students selected purposively. Data were collected through participatory observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing techniques. Data validity was ensured through source and technique triangulation. The findings indicate that the Love-Based Curriculum is conceptualized as an educational approach grounded in compassion (mahabbah), empathy, role modeling, and reflective dialogue. Its implementation is integrated into lesson planning, teacher–student interactions, restorative discipline practices, and school culture, including religious habituation and the 5S practice (smile, greet, and salute). This approach fosters intrinsic motivation, moral awareness, and the development of a sustainable religious habitus among students. Moreover, it creates a psychologically safe learning environment that encourages openness, reflection, and self-improvement. The study concludes that love functions as a systemic pedagogical paradigm integrating psychological, moral, and spiritual dimensions within Islamic education. The Love-Based Curriculum offers a holistic and contextual character education model in responding to the character crisis in the digital era.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze school and madrasah accreditation policies in Indonesia as an instrument for ensuring educational quality and to identify supporting and inhibiting factors in their implementation. Accreditation is a form of external evaluation conducted by the National Accreditation Board for Schools/Madrasahs (BAN-S/M) with reference to the National Education Standards (SNP). This study uses a qualitative approach with library research methods through analysis of regulations, scientific literature, and related policy documents. The results show that accreditation policies play a strategic role in improving educational quality through standardization, accountability, and transparency. The use of digital systems such as Sispena S/M also increases the efficiency and objectivity of the accreditation process. Supporting factors include commitment to quality improvement, national standardization, and encouragement of innovation in educational institutions, while inhibiting factors include limited human resources, administrative readiness, and facilities and infrastructure. Therefore, effective and sustainable accreditation management is needed to optimally improve educational quality.
