The urgency of implementing religious character education must be carried out since elementary school students, starting from choosing the best strategy in implementing religious character education, the role of subject teachers, and integration with the local wisdom of society is the best space in implementing religious character education. So in this study, researchers use the systematic literature review method by optimizing three global databases, namely Google Scholar, Scopus, and WOS, through the publish or perlis application, with themes (keywords) in the 2014-2024 range, combined with the data analysis process researchers use five stages, starting from data collection planning, data identification, selection of feasible data and conducting meta-analysis with a comparison of social theory. Implementing religious character education in elementary schools can be done in various ways, starting from programs implemented by optimizing integration between the government, schools, parents, and the community. In addition, religious character education can be implemented according to the challenges in each school by using local wisdom models, such as Islamic boarding schools, Maja Labo Dahu in West Nusa Tenggara, Rejang in Bengkulu, Basandi Syarak customs, Syarak Basandi Kitabullah in Padang, Sipakatau, Sipakalebbi, and Sipakainge in Makassar and Dhukutan Tawangmanggu customs. Based on these results, this study has theoretical implications for Sturt Hall’s thinking with three concepts of identity in implementing religious character education.

This study uses a literature review approach from As-Suhrawardiy's book Adabul Pupils. Analysis of research data, using analysis content as Elo et al and Marsh phases from data collection, coding, and reporting of the results. The results show that As-Suhrawardiy in his book Adabul Muridin explicitly states the importance of inculcating morals in the world of education, especially in the 21st century with the massive development of information technology. At the stage of As-Suhrawardiy's educational concept in explaining the concept of akhlaqi tasawwuf, there are three stages in strengthening moral education; takhalli (the process of cleansing the human self from bad deeds), tahalli (the process of filling from individuals by getting used to noble character in every action), and tajalli (the process of muroqabah (feeling the presence of Allah) on the individual with his god). A concept that is quite relevant to the challenges in the 21st century involves strengthening character education and strengthening the 4C competencies of each individual.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the moderate Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning model in fostering tolerant attitudes among students at UPT SMPN 16 Gresik, as well as to identify the challenges faced by teachers in implementing such models. The background of this research is based on the multicultural environment of the school, where teachers and students adhere to different beliefs, yet a conducive and tolerant learning atmosphere is maintained. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach using a case study method. Data collection techniques include in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation, involving PAI teachers, non-PAI teachers, the curriculum vice principal, and students as research subjects. Data analysis follows Yin’s approach, involving pattern matching, explanation building, and time-series analysis, validated through source, method, and theory triangulation. The findings reveal that the learning models used by teachers are Problem-Based Learning and Cooperative Learning, with a student-centered approach and the use of questioning, discussion, and lecture techniques. Internal challenges include limited teacher understanding of tolerance-based education, while external challenges involve media influence and peer environments that may not align with tolerant values. Therefore, it is necessary to improve teacher competence through relevant training and ensure the involvement of parents and the surrounding community in supporting the development of students' tolerant attitudes.

Abstract

A black mark that must be erased is the phenomenon of bullying in the field of education. The results of a variety of research studies on bullying behavior in elementary school children have prompted researchers to conduct a critical analysis with three research focuses: 1) the factors that contribute to the occurrence of bullying in elementary schools; 2) the bullying behaviors in elementary schools; 3) the strategies that elementary schools employ to address bullying among students. In order to accomplish these objectives, a systematic literature review was implemented through bibliographic mapping and visualization, which were derived from bibliometrics derived from the results of the literature analysis in the form of PRISMA analysis. The findings indicate that internal and external factors influence bullying behavior. In the interim, bullying behavior manifests as physical, verbal, and nonverbal violence. Consequently, educational institutions implement a variety of strategies, including institutional and individual strategies.

Abstract

Inclusive quality education is essential for national development, aligning with Indonesia's goal to educate intelligent, responsible, and noble citizens without discrimination. Binding legal regulations become the basis for implementing inclusive education that is fair and without prejudice. As for these two research questions: how are the legal rules governing inclusive education in Indonesia and other countries? What are the challenges of implementing inclusive education in Indonesia? Using the systematic literature review research method, with keywords in Indonesian and English, "inclusive education policy" AND "law", and "inclusive education policy" AND "law" AND "Indonesia" in the 2015-2025 period. The researcher obtained the results of 68 articles that were appropriate and complete "full paper", with the final details; articles from Scopus 19 and Google Scholar 49 total of 68 articles. The results of the study show that in terms of legal regulations, inclusive education in Indonesia is much clearer and more binding than in Japan, Malaysia, Vietnam, and Myanmar, only losing to Finland, which is much better in terms of law and implementation. However, Indonesia still has several challenges in implementing inclusive education, such as limited human resources, the need to provide collaboration space for teachers, government and parents, minimal facilities and infrastructure and weak supervision and evaluation. Theoretical implications of clear and binding inclusive education legal regulations start from the definition, rights, obligations, monitoring systems, and sanctions if violations are found compared to other countries.

Abstract

The presence of bullying within Islamic boarding schools is a serious issue that demands immediate attention and prevention. This research aimed to investigate the factors of bullying, the characteristics of bullying behavior in Islamic boarding schools, and the preventative measures implemented by Islamic boarding schools to shield their students. The research approach employed is a systematic literature review focused on published articles. The data was restricted to articles published from 2013 to 2023. The researchers used PRISMA analysis to analyze the data. The research results found that individual, a supportive environment, parental parenting patterns, particularly authoritarian parenting patterns, and aggressive or violent video or film elements were all factors in bullying. Several strategies had been put into effect, including the following: creating a fun cottage movement (GPM) program, strengthening conflict and emotional management, carrying out regular outreach and training regarding the dangers of bullying, cyber bullying, and legal education for bullies, implementing an anti-bullying curriculum, and others. Besides, more comprehensive research findings indicated that Islamic boarding schools must implement character formation based on Josephson’s “Character Counts” theory with six main pillars to prevent bullying behavior among students.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the innovations carried out by Sekolah Rendah Islam Al-Maarif Sungai Petani Malaysia in strengthening students' religious character. This study uses a qualitative case study approach with data collection techniques using interviews, observations, and documentation studies. The informants involved include the principal, teachers, students, and researchers using Miles, Huberman, and Saldana's qualitative data analysis. The results of the study indicate that the innovations carried out by the school in strengthening students' religious character are (a) internalization of character through intracurricular learning, (b) routine worship activities such as dhuha prayer, reciting the Koran, and dzuhur prayer in congregation, (c) the Tarbawi Champfire program, and (d) student organizations in the school. The results of this study provide insight into the innovations that have been carried out in strengthening students' religious character while opening up opportunities for further research including long-term evaluations of the effectiveness of the program in shaping students' religious character. These findings can then be adopted by other schools both in Malaysia and in other countries that have the same typology of Islamic education systems.
