Abstract

The diagnosis of diseases of the respiratory, lung, and air sacs generally uses radiographic images by radiologists. Therefore, the results are very subjective, causing differences in the interpretation and diagnosis among different radiologists. A radiographic image reading needs to be made in the form of a simple, fast, and accurate algorithm. The study aimed to reduce subjectivity and be easily carried out by radiology medical personnel, especially veterinarians. This study carried out density measurements by image processing using ImageJ software on 14 radiographic images of broiler chickens. Furthermore, the density value is associated with the Ansel Adam's - grayscale system to determine the opacity of respiratory tract tissues/organs, which were previously inhaled by one of them with chitosan-iopamidol nanoparticles using a nebulizer. The results of density measurements for the category of opacity in radiographic images are that seven spot areas lead brighter (radiopaque) only in chickens that are inhaled mist maker of chitosan-iopamidol nanoparticles. Then the determination of the value range is obtained average value on two ventrodorsal radiographic images, which are inhaled by mist maker of chitosan-iopamidol nanoparticles and chitosan nanoparticle compressor. The conclusion of this study was only in chickens that were infested with mist maker chitosan-iopamidol, whose radiographic image had a radiopaque spot and middle-value area.

Abstract

Stunning method before slaughtering is considered more animal welfare compared to a non-stunning method and also reduces stress levels in broilers. As for the bleed-out efficiency, testing was done indirectly by blood volume measurement which consists of erythrocyte count, leucocyte count, hemoglobin levels, hematocrit values, and erythrocyte index in broilers.   Brain histopathology was also carried out to see the effect of electrical stunning towards the brain tissues.  The stunning method used is electrical stunning via water bath with the capacity of 146 mAh.  The results showed that the stunning method before slaughtering caused smaller number of erythrocytes and hematocrit values, and the brain histopathology showed that stunning causes encephalopathy.

Abstract

Global warming has caused heat stress in quail (Coturnix coturnix Japonica). Heat stress can cause an increase in free radicals, through increased production and secretion of glucocorticoid hormones, which exceed the ability of the body's antioxidant system, causing oxidation, especially of double bonded lipid compounds found in cell membranes. Long-term secretion of glucocorticoids can cause a decrease in reproductive function. Dexamethasone is a glucocorticoid drug. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of giving dexamethasone, as an analogy to glucocorticoid secretion in quail, on the quantity and quality of eggs produced by quail. Egg quality observed was length, width, weight, yolk weight and percentage, Haugh unit, white weight and percent, white height, egg shell weight and thickness. This study used 16 quails which were divided into four groups, namely one control group and three dexamethasone groups. The doses of dexamethasone given were 1.25 mg/kg BW, 2.5 mg/kg BW, and 5 mg/kg BW. Dexamethasone was given orally for two weeks. Sampling was carried out every day since the start of the study. The results showed that the administration of dexamethasone caused a decrease in the quantity and quality of eggs produced by quail.

Abstract

Carbon Dots (CDs) which have been synthesized using the laser ablation method show the presence of UV-Vis absorption in the wavelength range of 303 nm to 333 nm for absorbance and 495 nm to 503 nm for fluorescence. Changes in the time duration 1, 2, 3 hours of CDs resulted in changes in the optical energy gap. The optical energy gap valuesare distinguished by the type of indirect transition (n=2) is 3.40 eV (1 hour), 3.15 eV (2 hour), 2.85 eV (3 hour) and direct transition (n=1/2) is 2.58 eV (1 hour), 2.31 eV (2 hour), 1.70 eV (1 hour).

Abstract

ABSTRAK. Penyakit pernapasan khususnya pada ayam, diperlukan penghantaran obat yang langsung ke organ target dengan cara diinhalasi menggunakan alat nebulizer. Alat ini menghasilkan aerosol mampu mencapai paru-paru dan langsung berefek, dengan berbasis nanopartikel dapat meningkatkan bioavaibilitas. Penelitian ini bertujuan melihat efektivitas inhalasi nebulizer termodifikasi dikombinasi dengan nanopartikel kitosan-iopamidol terhadap organ target di saluran pernapasan ayam broiler. Sintesis nanopartikel metode gelasi ionik, dipreparasi dengan kitosan 0,1% dan natrium tripolifosfat 0,1% dalam cup nozzle 0,3 mm, rasio volume 5:1, ditambah 150 ml iopamidol 30,6 mg/ml dan diaduk 1300-1500 rpm. Partikel diukur dengan alat: Particle Size Analizer dan Scanning Electron Microscope. Nebulizer ultrasonik dan kompresor dipasang pada chamber 35 cm x 24 cm x 29 cm. Pemeriksaan radiologi tujuh ekor ayam umur 2 minggu, enam ekor masing-masing diinhalasi satu dari dua nebulizer dengan satu dari tiga macam larutan (nanopartikel kitosan, nanopartikel kitosan-iopamidol, dan iopamidol konsentrasi 30,6 mg/ml) sebanyak 3 ml. Kemudian dilakukan pemindaian dengan sinar-x. Hasil pengukuran partikel didapat z-avarage: 409,3 nm, indek polidisperitas 0,53 dan bentuk cenderung bulat. Citra radiograf menunjukkan radiopaque pada saluran pernapasan terutama kantong hawa yang diinhalasi nanopartikel kitosan-iopamidol. Kesimpulan, aerosol yang dihasilkan kedua jenis nebulizer termodifikasi yang dikombinasi dengan media kontras formulasi nanopartikel dapat mencapai saluran pernapasan ayam broiler. Respiratory diseases, especially in chickens, need proper treatment to deliver drugs directly to the target organs by means of inhalation using a nebulizer. This tool produces aerosols capable of reaching the lungs and having a healer effect immediately, with nanoparticles-based administration which can increase bioavailability. This study aimed to look at the effectiveness of modified inhalation nebulizer in combination with chitosan-iopamidol nanoparticles on target organs in the respiratory tract of broiler chickens. The nanoparticle synthesis of ionic gelation method was prepared with 0.1% chitosan and 0.1% sodium tripolyphosphate in 0.3 mm cup nozzle, with volume ratio 5: 1, plus 150 mL iopamidol 30.6 mg / mL then centrifuged on 1300-1500 rpm. Particles were measured by means of: Particle Size Analizer and Scanning Electron Microscope. Ultrasonic Nebulizer and compressor were installed in chamber with the size of 35 cm x 24 cm x 29 cm. Radiology examination of seven chickens with 2-week-old age was conducted by inhaling one of two nebulizers with one of three solutions (chitosan nanoparticles, chitosan-iopamidol nanoparticles, and iopamidol with the concentrations of 30.6 mg / mL) in the amount of 3 mL to six chickens (1 chicken was the control). Then x-ray scanning was carried out. The results of particle measurement obtained z-avarage in the amount of 409.3 nm, index of polydisperity of 0.53 and form tend to be spherical. Radiographic images revealed the existance of radiopaque in the respiratory tract, especially the bag of air inhaled chitosan-iopamidol nanoparticles. Therefore, the aerosols produced by the two types of modified nebulizers in combination with the nanoparticle formulation contrast media can reach the respiratory tract of broiler chickens. Abstract

Spektrofotometer adalah sistem baku berbasis kolorimetri dalam pengukuran kadar Hemoglobin (Hb). Penggunaan scanner untuk mengukur kadar Hb berbasis kolorimetri telah dilakukan sebagai sistem alternatif. Kurva baku kanal warna scanner yang paling curam adalah blue. Perbandingan kurva baku spektrofotometer dengan kanal warna blue menunjukan nilai y = 0.3131x + 0.0565 dengan R2 = 0.9954 dan angka konversi nilai absorbansi desktop scanner menjadi kadar Hb adalah 73.6. Hasil uji Pasangan T menghasilkan nilai p sebesar 0.325 atau tidak berbeda nyata pada p ˃ 0.05.

Abstract

Provinsi Jawa Barat merupakan satu dari 24 provinsi di Indonesia yang dilaporkan belum bebas Rabies. Usaha pembebasan wilayah Jawa Barat dari penyakit Rabies sangat strategis mengingat posisi Jawa Barat berada di antara daerah bebas Rabies. Jampang Tengah menjadi salah satu kecamatan di Sukabumi yang pada tahun 2016 dilaporkan telah terjadi 13 kasus gigitan Rabies. Penelitian ini menggunakan 81 sampel darah anjing lokal yang dikoleksi dari enam desa di kecamatan Jampang Tengah dan diperiksa dengan menggunakan alat Rayto® hematology analyzer. Parameter profil hematologi dikelompokkan berdasarkan perbedaan umur dan jenis kelamin anjing. Hasil pemeriksaan hematologi secara umum berdasarkan umur menunjukkan nilai rataan yang lebih besar pada anjing lokal umur ≥1 tahun dan konsentrasi leukosit menunjukkan nilai statistik yang signifikan berbeda (p<0.05). Berdasarkan jenis kelamin, nilai rataan parameter hematologi secara umum lebih tinggi pada anjing lokal betina dan adanya perbedaan signifikan (p<0.05) pada konsentrasi leukosit dan granulosit.

Abstract

Sensor MLX 90614 adalah sensor IR yang digunakan untuk mengukur suhu tanpa kontak. Sensor ini dapat mengukur suhu objek dan suhu lingkungan pada kisaran -40 oC – 125 oC. Sensor ini banyak digunakan di berbagai bidang seperti pengukuran suhu ruangan, suhu mesin, suhu lingkungan, dan suhu tubuh. Sensor MLX 90614 belum sepenuhnya dapat digunakan secara langsung untuk melakukan pengukuran suhu karena default program yang sederhana sehingga hasil pengukuran tidak akurat. Oleh karena itu diperlukan optimasi untuk meningkatkan nilai presisi pendugaan suhu internal tubuh menggunakan sensor ini. Metode yang dilakukan dalam penelitian ini menggunakan 6 ekor domba percobaan. Pemeriksaan suhu dilakukan melalui termometer kontak dan dibandingkan dengan pemeriksaan non-kontak oleh sensor MLX 90614. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan suhu rata-rata termometer kontak adalah 39,28±0,09 oC sedangkan hasil sensor MLX adalah 35,78±1,38 oC. Perbedaan suhu rata-rata adalah 3,5±1,48 oC. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa faktor koreksi perbedaan suhu perlu dimasukkan dalam kode skrip saat menjalankan sensor MLX 90614. Hasil pemeriksaan suhu oleh sensor dapat langsung dikirim secara real time ke platform ThingSpeak sehingga hasilnya dapat disimpan dan diakses di berbagai tempat dengan mudah. Penggunaan sensor MLX 90614 yang dipadukan dengan konsep IoT menggunakan ThingSpeak dapat mempermudah proses pemeriksaan suhu tubuh non-kontak, serta membuat data dapat diakses dan disimpan dengan mudah.

Abstract

Research on the synthesis of Carbon Dots using the laser ablation method has been carried out at a time duration of 1, 2, and 3 hours (energy 60 mJ, wavelength 1064 nm and frequency 10 Hz). This research uses organic material from Tea and Toluene as the carbon solvent. The characterization method uses a UV-Vis Diffuse Reflectance Spectroscopy (UV-Vis DRS) spectrum to measure the reflectance value and uses the Kubelka-Munk equation to determine the relationship between the absorbance coefficient parameter (s) and the scattering reflectance coefficient (k). The size and morphological characterization methods used Particle Size Analyzer (PSA) and Transmission Electron Microscopy, while the functional group characteristics used the Fourier Transform InfraRed (FTIR) tool. FTIR spectra show the O-H group which is a hydroxyl bond and N-H is a carboxylic acid. The results of measurement and analysis of bandgap energy at different time durations for direct transition (n=2) were 1 hour (3.62 eV, 342.49 nm), 2 hours (3.24 eV, 380.61 nm) and 3 hours (2.74, 451.82 nm). Indirect transitions (n=1/2) were 1 hour (3.17 eV, 391.02 nm), 2 hours (2.50 eV, 495.36 nm) and 3 hours (2.21 eV, 559.04).

Abstract

Stunting ialah bagian dari kondisi gizi kronis yang disebabkan oleh kekurangan asupan zat gizi dalam jangka panjang akibat asupan makanan yang tidak mencukupi untuk memenuhi gizi optimal. Pengumpulan data dalam survei ini dilakukan secara tatap muka dengan masyarakat yang tinggal di Bontang Kuala, Provinsi Bontang Utara, yang juga merupakan tujuan dari survei ini. Metode yang diterapkan adalah identifikasi pola masyarakat berdasarkan analisis deskriptif yang didapat dari persepsi masyarakat dan permasalahan yang mempengaruhi stunting. Banyak keluhan masyarakat Bontang Kuala tentang balita dan bayi yang masih menangis setelah disusui. Hal ini dapat terjadi karena balita dan bayi tidak merasa kenyang setelah disusui dan asupan makanan yang diberikan tidak mencukupi. Untuk itu kelompok KKN-T telah memberikan materi tentang MP-ASI. Kegiatan KKN-T IPB di Kelurahan Bontang Kuala telah berjalan sesuai harapan, berkat kerjasama peserta KKN-T IPB, Kelurahan Bontang Kuala, kelompok PKK dan masyarakat berdasarkan analisis sosial budaya dengan analisis deskriptif.
