Abstract

Abstrack. Style of language can be interpreted as an individual way of expressing ideas or characteristics of how individuals communicate. A politician has his own style, even the head of state, community leaders and even writers. The essence is that nothing is really the same in someone's style, both when speaking and writing. In stylistic studies it is often referred to as a linguistic approach to literature, because literature is inseparable from the medium of language. This paper will discuss the style of language in the lyrics of the song Berkelana ke Ujung Dunia by Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono. Song lyrics are considered to be the same as poetry, so the study of song lyrics is right using stylistic studies with the method of content analysis. The purpose of this study is to describe: (1) the style of words in the song Berkelana ke Ujung Dunia; (2) The sentence style in the song Berkelana ke Ujung Dunia; (3) Figure of speech in the song Berkelana ke Ujung Dunia.

Abstract

Abstrack. The world of literature is an imaginative world that describes human life, which we can enjoy, understand and contemplate. Life in society that we can find is cultural value. The purpose of this research is to find out the cultural values in the Lamaholot folklore of East Flores Regency. This study uses a qualitative approach that uses words as data to convey research results. The research method used to analyze this folklore is the content analysis method. Cultural values include: cultural values in human relations with God, cultural values in human works, cultural values in human relations with nature, and cultural values in human relations with others. Descriptive research techniques conducted by researchers are techniques examining elements of cultural values. This research technique can be done by reading carefully to find cultural values, identify, classify, analyze, and conclude research data about the cultural values in the story. From the results of the study found 99 quotes related to the four cultural values studied.  Keywords : cultural values, folklore, and content analysis

Abstract

Berita sebagai informasi yang berpengaruh dan bermakna dalam masyarakat baik cetak maupun online. Berita tentang korupsi di Indonesia sepertinya tidak ada habisnya, Akhir-akhir ini yang cukup menyita perhatian masyarakat terkait kasus korupsi yang sudah lama kini muncul kembali dalam berita “Hari ini Angelina Sondakh Keluar dari Penjara” Model Teun A. Van tiga dimensi yang disatukan dalam analisis wacana kritis terhadap sebuah wacana dengan dimensi teks berkaitan dengan struktur, kognisi sosial terkait dengan proses produksi teks dan konteks sosial yang ada dalam masyarakat dengan wacana pada berita “Hari ini Angelina Sondakh Keluar dari Penjara” menggunakan pendekatan penelitian kualitatif, dengan hasil analisis wacana kritis dimensi teks struktur makro berkaitan makna global yaitu Perempuan Korupsi, superstruktur berkaitan isi berita dari awal hingga akhir memiliki hubungan dan struktur makro kepaduan dan kesatuan antar kalimat. Pada dimensi kognisi sosial berkaitan dengan terbentuknya berita oleh penulis berita berkaitan dengan berita yang diharapkan menjadi hal yang ditunggu karena kasus korupsi Angelina Sondakh merupakan kasus besar dengan putusan hukuman berat dan dimensi konteks sosial terbentuknya berita dalam masyarakat konteks sosial saat itu maraknya kasus korupsi yang merugikan negara namun tersangka korupsi mendapatkan putusan hukuman yang ringan, berbeda jauh dengan putusan hukuman kasus korupsi yang dilakukan oleh Angelina Sondakh yang diharapkan membuat efek jera.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find the effect of learning strategies (metacognitive and cognitive strategies) and personality (intrinsic and extrinsic personality) on Arabic listening skills. It was experiment research with experimental methods by factorial 2x2 design. It used a 2-way analysis variance design. The process of collecting data used questionnaires, tests, observations, and documentation. The results showed that there was a significant influence on Arabic listening ability with different personality levels. Personality differences in the application of listening learning strategies are closely related. Language learning varies depending on individual characteristics and variations in language learning outcomes associated with student characteristics. Cognitive and metacognitive strategies have a significant influence on the Arabic listening ability with different levels of personality types namely extrovert and introvert. Therefore, it can be concluded that different personalities will influence the level of different listening skills in Arabic. The results of the study recommend that the learning process of listening to Arabic using metacognitive and cognitive strategies can be varied with the concept of group learning and enrichment of vocabulary from the material presented.

Abstract

This study aimed at developing teaching materials for Bahasa Indonesia reading skills for Grade IV Elementary School students based on local wisdom using a Quantum approach in South Nias District. By applying Borg and Gall's R&D design, this study involved 92 random samples of students. Data was collected through questionnaires and tests. The results of the study using the t-test obtained tcount of 23.40 higher than ttable of 2.63. In other words, there was a significant difference after using the developed teaching material product. It can be concluded that the developed teaching materials for Bahasa Indonesia reading skills based on local wisdom with a Quantum approach was very effective for teaching reading in grade IV, Public Elementary School, South Nias District. The implications of this study regarding reading achievement, local wisdom, and teacher's strategies are also discussed.

Abstract

Penelitian ini menganalisis dialog pada podcast Tetangga Daniel Mananta edisi Ustad Abdul Somad (UAS). Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui tanda-tanda yang muncul dalam dialog yang merepresentasi pesan ideologi Islam dalam hal sikap bertoleransi yang diujarkan oleh ustad Abdul Somad. Peneliti menggunakan metode interpretif dengan pendekatan kualitatif dan alat analisis semiotika dari Roland Barthes. Hasil penelitian menúnjukkan bahwa pada teks ditemukan beberapa tanda yang digunakan untuk mewakili ideologi Islam dalam hal toleransi meliputi mengahdiri undangan, ajaran kasih sayang, membantu kalangan yang tidak mampu, bersahabat dengan semua etnis dan beragama, berempati, Status Nabi Isa dalam Al Qur’an, pandangan terhadap nabi Isa, dan toleransi terhadap lingkungan. Hasil penelitian ini diharapkan mampu meningkatkan pemahaman masyarakat bahwa Islam sebagai sebuah agama dan ideologi sangat mendukung sikap toleransi sebagaimana yang diutarakan Ustad Abdul Somad.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the need for English reading teaching materials for Vocational High School students majoring in Fashion Design, and to determine the need for English reading skills in the world of work. Data were obtained from questionnaires and interviews. The subjects studied were students of SMK Rahmatutoyibah Gunung Kaler, grade X majoring in Fashion Design, and grade X English teaching materials for SMK. This research was conducted with a mixed-method design. The data were collected through questionnaires and structured interviews. This questionnaire is based on the SMK English learning curriculum. The results of this study indicate that Vocational High School students majoring in fashion need teaching materials that are by their majors, namely reading materials related to the fashion department as well as material that introduces a lot of the industrial world and can support the field they are engaged in. Furthermore, Grade X Vocational School students majoring in Fashion Design need English reading learning media to encourage easy understanding of English reading material, namely media in the form of interesting and contemporary digital applications. Furthermore, the need for the world of work for their English reading skills requires skilled workers who have good English reading skills, which include the ability to read manual books, the ability to read company regulations, the ability to read travel documents, the ability to read English messages, the ability to reading notes, the ability to read e-mails, the ability to read employment contracts, and the ability to read cooperation agreements.

Abstract

The speaker on Cokro TV's Youtube video, Ade Armando, expressed his opinion about the discourse of non-mahram which has invited controversy. The discourse of non-muhrim has sparked debate because it is associated with social problems that occur in society, namely choosing a doctor who is adjusted to the gender of the patient. This research emphasizes more on the ideology that the speaker wants to convey and the strategies used by the speaker to express his ideology. The critical analysis model used in this research is Van Leeuwen's critical analysis model. This research model is used to determine the social actors supported and marginalized by the speaker. This research uses a qualitative research approach with content analysis method. The results showed that the speakers used exclusion and inclusion strategies. The exclusion strategy used by the speaker leads to a passive discourse strategy, while the inclusion strategy used by the speaker leads to an identification discourse strategy.

Abstract

This paper discusses the discourse on domestic violence that befell Lesti Kejora by her husband, Rizky Billar, in the online media coverage tempo.com on 13 October 2022. This writing aims to describe feminism in the domestic violence coverage of Rizky Billar against Lesti Kejora using Sara Mills’ critical discourse analysis (CDA). The research method used is descriptive qualitative, utilizing the data analysis technique of Sara Mills’ critical discourse analysis, which emphasizes the position of the subject-object, its consequences, and the position of the reader-writer. From the analysis results, it is known that ideological and legal aspects are present through the views of legal experts on domestic violence. The discourse in the object of this research is news that shows the feminist movement in favor of women led by women's rights legal experts. However, the discourse writers tend to side with Billar, who is most likely to be released from custody. At first glance, Lesti's discourse indicates as if she was not a victim is indirectly something that marginalizes women. The author reconstructs facts into a discourse adapted to the intent and purpose. Therefore, the position of the subject-object may differ from the actor in another context.

Abstract

This study discusses Sara Mills' critical discourse analysis on stereotypes of the wife's role in the household in the religious speech given at a wedding event. The purpose of this religious speech is to provide understanding to married couples regarding their respective rights and responsibilities, as well as solve problems in the household, and also to prevent and reduce the number of divorce cases. There is a stereotype of women that is synonymous with femininity, namely in the form of the perception that women are attached, that women are gentle, beautiful, easily carried away by emotions, and full of affection. These perceptions of men and women provide cultural assumptions that give different and wider roles to men and make them obtain a relatively high social value status compared to women. In relation to marriage advice lectures, by looking at the stereotype phenomenon that occurs in women, the process and occurrence of marriage advice is one of the important processes and influences the development of these stereotypes. This study uses a qualitative method using the discourse analysis technique of Sara Mills. The primary data was obtained from a long process of repeatedly listening to the marriage advice video lectures to select scenes that display stereotypes towards women in the marriage advice video lectures. The purpose of this study is to find out and analyze critical discourse about the stereotyped role of the wife in marriage in marriage advice lectures.
