Abstract

AbstractThis study aims to reveal the types of moral existence of the main character Syekh Siti Jenar, the disclosure and description of the moral of Sheikh Siti Jenar, and the moral of Sheikh Siti Jenar with the reality of life in the Laker Babad Tanah Pengging by Saini K.M. The study was conducted form October 2016 to August 2017. This research uses descriptive qualitative method with content analysis technique starting focus of research, data collection, verification of data validity, analyze, interpret, find, verify, and conclude. The results show that this play contains a positive moral existence that can be used as a reference to study literature. The content of the play is closely related to the life of the community so the result of the research is suggested that the play "Syekh Siti Jenar in Babad Tanah Pengging," by Saini K.M. can serve as a medium for teaching individual, social, and moral religious which concerned about the moral issues of the students that occur in the process of literary learning.Keywords: The play, Main Figures, and existence of Moral

Abstract

ABSTRACT The study aims to examine the ideological representations that appear in the news in the media. The analysis of this research uses the CDA Van Dijk concept. The data of this research is the news entitled “DKI Mengklaim Perluasan Ancol untuk Publik” published in TEMPO Newspaper, Monday July 6, 2020. From the analysis, this news shows support for the reclamation policy of the Ancol area of the DKI Jakarta Government. Abstract

ABSTRACT This article presents the result of empirical research that investigates the effect of online listening strategies instruction and vocabulary knowledge on Japanese language learners' listening skill. Listening strategies instruction used are the integrative model and the Oxford model. Participants in the study were 44 Japanese language learners of grade 12 from SMAN 21 Bekasi. This research used a quantitative approach and a quasi-experimental method. The data was collected by pre-test and post-test related to the learners’ Japanese listening skills. The learners' vocabulary knowledge was also measured using a vocabulary knowledge test. The result showed that the online listening strategy instruction, integrative model could not be given to students of class XII of SMAN 21 Bekasi due to the absence of a significant effect of the method and vocabulary knowledge on listening skills of Japanese language learners of grade 12 from SMAN 21 Bekasi. The research shows the possibility of other factors such as learning independency and learner autonomy that can affect the effectiveness of online listening strategy instruction, integrative model on Japanese listening skills. Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kebiasaan membaca terhadap keterampilan menulis narasi mahasiswa. Kegiatan membaca yang diciptakan pengajar berkaitan dengan penugasan membaca ekstensif untuk mengembangkan tema tulisan. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian eksperimen dengan rancangan one-group experimental design. Partisipan dalam penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa di Universitas Kusumanegara Jakarta. Ada 100 mahasiswa yang menjadi peserta dalam proses penelitian ini atau 3 kelas. Proses pengumpulan data menggunakan tes esai (menulis narasi) dan observasi. Teknik analisis data menggunakan t-test paired two samples for means. Hasil temuan menyimpulkan bahwa ada dampak signifikan kebiasaan membaca terhadap kualitas hasil tulisan narasi mahasiswa. Hal ini juga memberikan implikasi pada penerapan strategi pembelajaran menulis melalui penugasaan membaca ekstensif sebagai wujud penciptaan kebiasaan mahasiswa selama proses pengembangan tulisan narasi. Temuan ini menggambarkan paduan pembelajaran keterampilan membaca dengan menulis selama proses proses pengajaran berlangsung sebagai bagian dari pengajaran terintegrasi. Mahasiswa tidak hanya mengalami peningkatan keterampilan menulis, akan tetapi juga pemahaman mereka terhadap bacaan.Kata Kunci: Membaca, Menulis, Narasi.

Abstract

A research and development of teaching materials will focus on the development of the textbook that suit the needs of students, lecturers, and also the majors. The knowledge of culture and literature that has been studied in Chinese Language and Culture study program of Darma Persada University is not maximum and suitable for the students’ needs. So to adjust to the needs of these students, the making of teaching materials in this study will use the contextual based theme of Chinese literature and culture. The literature and cultural themes used in this study consists different types of traditional Chinese folklore. The methodology used in this study refers to Hutchinson and Waters theory that includes the analysis of the needs of students and teachers. The data collections are conducted using questionnaire in the 5th of Chinese Language and Culture Faculty of Darma Persada University which consist of 18 students and 3 lecturers in reading class. The data analysis used in this study is quantitative. This research resulted that the use of appropriate teaching materials and in accordance with the needs of students will result in more effective learning, better learning outcomes, and a positive response on student attitudes. The material for reading the context-based Mandarin literary works and culture resulting from this development research has also encouraged the students to be more active during the teaching and learning process.

Abstract

This study aims to find errors in the translation of scientific texts from English into Indonesian. This research uses the qualitative method with content analysis approach. The results showed that (1) the translation strategy, the majority of students used semantic strategy, especially modulation in translating scientific texts and at least used the special structural strategies of addition, (2) lexical error, the majority of students made formal lexical errors in word selection and the least (3) morphological errors, the majority of students make mistakes in the affixation field of improper use of affixation and the least of which are affixations that are not broken, (4) syntactic errors, syntactical errors found in the translation of scientific texts in the fields, phrases, clauses and sentences but the majority of students make mistakes in the field of sentences are the use of illogical phrases and the fewest errors in the field clause is the addition of auxiliary verbs in the equational or nominal clause, and the separation of the perpetrator (subject) and the word in the active clause, (5) the factor causing errors in translation ie the majority of students do not understand the source language text and the least of which is the quality of the source language using the incorrect grammatical, the sentence is vague, the idea is not coherent and many fungtuations.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to know the influence of cooperative learning method (Jigsaw and TPS) and personality type (extrovert and introvert) toward students’ ability in scientific writing at the SMA Negeri 2 Ciamis class XII. The research used experimental method with 2 x 2 factorial design. The population was the students of class XII which consisted of 150. The sample was 57 students. The results showed that: (1) The ability to write scientific articles of students learning by cooperative learning method jigsaw model (= 65,88) is higher than students who learn by cooperative technique method of TPS (= 59,88), (2) Ability writing scientific articles of students whose extroverted personality (= 65.69) is higher than introverted students (= 60.06); (3) there is interaction between cooperative learning method and personality type to score of writing ability of scientific article (4) ability to write scientific article of extrovert student and studying with technique of Jigsaw (= 77,75) higher than extrovert student learning with cooperative learning method model of TPS (= 53,63) to score of writing ability of scientific article, (5) ability to write introverted student's scientific article and get treatment of cooperative learning method of jigsaw model (= 54,00) lower than introverted student learning TPS technique = 66,13), (6) the ability to write extroverted students' scientific articles studied with jigsaw techniques, and introverted students who studied Jigsaw techniques (= 77.75) were higher than those with introverted personality types studied by the Jigsaw technique (= 54.00 ), (7) Ability to write scientific articles of students learning by cooperative techniques of TPS technique and have extrovert personality type ( = 53.63) lower than introverted students learning TPS techniques (= 66.13).

Abstract

Developing Moodle-based flipped learning model and integrating it with collaborative i-tool SmartCAT is one of the greatest challenges in Translation courses. Product validation is carried out by translation, Flipped Learning, instructional design and Learning Management System experts. To obtain expert consensus regarding the validity of the developed hypothetical model, the Delphi technique is used, namely the conclusion of the results of various expert opinions that are collected, searched for points of similarity, and summarized so that it becomes a common consensus. The consensus of experts includes the following aspects: 1) identification of problems through needs analysis, 2) priority determination, namely determining the type and manufacture of the product, 3) determining program objectives, and 4) determining solutions to solve problems. The next stage is to try it out on 10 lecturers and 60 students in the Translation course in the English Education Study Program. This trial was used to determine the impact of Flipped Learning and the subject’s perception of the application of the product in a lecture activity. The conclusion of the consensus results of the validity of the experts and the perception of the subject in this study were analyzed by the percentage method, while the determination of the impact of learning with the average difference test of the subject’s value. This research is expected to have a positive impact on Moodle-based Flipped Learning through the developed product, which can significantly improve students’ Basic Translation Skills and Twenty-First Century Skills.

Abstract

Kekerasan dalam rumah tangga (KDRT) menjadi salah satu isu hangat pada surat kabar online. Korban KDRT sebagian besar adalah kaum perempuan, namun ada kemungkinan kaum pria juga bisa mengalaminya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui: 1) posisi subjek-objek dalam dua artikel berita yang diterbitkan oleh detik.com dengan topik KDRT; 2) posisi penulis-pembaca dalam dua artikel berita yang dimuat detik.com dengan topik KDRT. Peneliti menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Data penelitian adalah kutipan mengenai analisis wacana kritis model Sara Mills. Sumber data penelitian ini yaitu artikel berita detik.com yaitu berita mengenai Lesti Kejora Mengalami Kekerasan Dalam Rumah Tangga Berulang Kali yang terbit pada Sabtu, 8 Oktober 2022; dan Pria Arab Siram Istri pakai Air Keras Dijerat Pasal Pembunuhan Berencana diterbitkan pada Senin, 22 November 2022. Teknik pengumpulan menggunakan Teknik baca dan catat yaitu peneliti membaca artikel yang digunakan dalam penelitian dan mencatat hal-hal yang berkaitan dengan analisis wacana kritis model Sara Mills. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan yaitu 1) membaca artikel berita dengan seksama; 2) mengidentifikasi posisi subjek-objek; 3) mengidentifikasi posisi penulis-pembaca; 4) menghubungkan data yang ditemukan dengan menggunakan analisis wacana kritis Model Sara Mills tentang penggambaran perempuan dalam topik KDRT; 5) menarik kesimpulan dari analisis. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa perempuan digambarka sebagai korban KDRT. Subjek pemberitaan cenderung merasionalisasi KDRT dengan menyalahkan korban dalam hal ini perempuan. Para komentator juga memiliki perspektif yang berbeda. Sisi pertama mendukung korban. Pihak kedua mencoba menyalahkan korban dengan tuduhan yang tidak terbukti.Kata kunci: KDRT, Wacana Kritis, Sarah Mills

Abstract

Researchers studied this study using Norman Faiclough's theory of critical discourse analysis. Through this theory, the researcher can carry out critical reflections to dismantle the interests of the analyzer. This study describes how moral identity and gender identity are in short stories on republika online media. The approach used is qualitative to understand phenomena about what the subject of the study experiences for example behavior, perception, motivation, action. The data collection technique is carried out by downloading short stories through the Republika e-paper, then describing, analyzing, and interpreting based on critical discourse analysis techniques. The findings of this study are: there are issues of moral and gender identity that are represented by examining the linguistic level and practice of discourse. Based on the findings, it can be concluded that the study of moral and gender identity can dismantle ideologies and aspects hidden in short story texts by looking at linguistic elements through modalities and metaphors; in the practical dimension of discourse shows that short stories contain elements of moral identity and gender identity in line with the vision and mission of the Republika online media that uphold human and cultural values; Factors that influence the development of moral identity and gender include internal factors, namely factors that exist within the character himself, and external factors, namely factors that exist outside the character (environment, lifestyle, friendships).
