Abstract

The purposes of this study are to (1) understand the patterns of students’ mathematic problem solving with the version of the Polya problem-solving approach and (2) find out the difficulties faced by students in solving mathematic problem.This research is descriptive qualitative in nature. The object of this research is the eighth year students of junior high school PGRI 01 Dau on a circle of material. Data collecting was done using test sheet that aims to determine the patterns of students' mathematic problem solving, so that the results of the test can also show the difficulties encountered by the students. The data analysis showed that (1) the students were able to perform stage version of the Polya problem solving on measures of understanding about and plan for the settlement, but there were 16 students who were able to plan the implementation phase and half of the students (10) were able to do the checking stage again and (2) as many as 0% of thestudents found difficulty in understanding problem and planning stages of completion, meaning no student had difficulty in understanding the problem and plan for completion.But there were 17% of the total number of the students who got difficulty in implementing the plan, and there were 47% of the total number of the students who encountered difficulty at this stage of review.

Abstract

This current research was aimed at analyzing and describing teacher’s scaffolding patterns applied to cooperative learning setting to help students solve mathematical problems. This research was designed qualitatively, recruiting a mathematics teacher of the eighth grade as the subject. Further, the instruments used to carry out the research comprised a test with HOTS questions, observation sheet, and interview guide. To identify the teacher’s scaffolding patterns, the target students were required to work on the HOTS test. Afterwards, they were grouped based on the level of difficulty they faced during working on the test. Next, the teacher provided the students with the scaffolding based on the students’ needs in each of the created groups. This research indicated that the scaffolding given to the group of students with no difficulty in solving the problem only covered a reviewing component. Meanwhile, to the group with the difficulty in executing the plans as arranged, the scaffolding comprised explaining, restructuring, and developing conceptual thinking components. At last, to the group with a sole ability to understand the problem, the whole components of scaffolding were of great necessity, including environmental provisions, explaining, reviewing, restructuring, and developing conceptual thinking.Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis dan mendeskripsikan pola scaffolding guru pada setting pembelajaran kooperatif untuk membantu siswa memecahkan masalah. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan subjek guru matematika kelas VIII. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah lembar tes soal HOTS, lembar observasi dan pedoman wawancara. Untuk mengetahui pola scaffolding guru, siswa diminta untuk mengerjakan tes HOTS. Kemudian siswa dikelompokkan sesuai dengan tingkat kesulitan yang dialami saat mengerjakan soal tersebut. Selanjutnya guru memberikan scaffolding sesuai dengan kebutuhan siswa pada masing-masing kelompok. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa scaffolding pada kelompok siswa yang tidak mengalami kesulitan dalam menyelesaikan masalah, hanya pada komponen reviewing. Scaffolding pada kelompok siswa yang mengalami kesulitan pada tahap mengerjakan sesuai rencana, pada komponen explaining, restructuring dan developing conceptual thinking. Siswa yang hanya mampu memahami masalah, scaffolding yang diperlukan pada semua komponen yaitu environmental provisions, explaining, reviewing, restructuring dan developing conceptual thinking.

Abstract

The aim of this study described the effectiveness of instructional media that produces valid, effective, and practical media. The development of communication and technology requires teachers to be more active and creative in carrying out classroom learning.  Teachers can develop learning media that can improve student learning outcomes. The sample of this research trial was the students of class X at MAN 1 Mojokerto. This study uses a 4-D research method which is shortened to 3-D.  Data collection techniques used include interviews with mathematics teachers, pretest and posttest questions.  The instruments used in this study include guidelines for using media, teaching materials, validation sheets, student response questionnaires and tests.  The results of this study indicate that the average validation guide for the use of media, and teaching materials is 95.15%, besides that the validator also provides an assessment on the response questionnaire sheet of 97.5%.  This indicates that the media guidelines, teaching materials, and response questionnaires are very valid.  The average result of the N-Gain value of students is 0.96, based on the N-Gain criteria scale shows high criteria so that the media is said to be effective, and the results of the calculation of students' questionnaire responses show that each statement point is greater by 70% and the students can be said to be good in ability operate the gadget. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan efektivitas media pembelajaran yang menghasilkan media valid, efektif dan praktis. Berkembangnya komunikasi dan teknologi menuntut guru untuk lebih aktif dan kreatif dalam melaksanakan pembelajaran di kelas. Guru bisa mengembangkan media pembelajaran yang mampu meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa. Sampel uji coba penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas X di MAN 1 Mojokerto. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian 4-D yang dipersingkat menjadi 3-D. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan meliputi wawancara pada guru matematika, soal pretest dan posttest. Instrumen yang digunakan penelitian ini meliputi panduan penggunaan media, bahan ajar, lembar validasi, angket respon peserta didik dan tes. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata validasi panduan penggunaan media dan bahan ajar adalah 95,15%, selain itu validator juga memberikan penilaian pada lembar angket respon sebesar 97,5%. Hal ini menyatakan bahwa panduan media, bahan ajar dan angket respon sangat valid. Hasil rata-rata nilai N-Gain peserta didik sebesar 0.96, berdasarkan skala kriteria N-Gain menunjukkan kriteria tinggi sehingga media dikatakan efektif dan hasil perhitungan respon angket peserta didik menunjukkan tiap poin pernyataan lebih besar dengan 70% sehingga peserta didik dapat dikatakan baik dalam kemampuan mengoperasikan gadget.

Abstract

Abstract: The purpose of this developmental research was to describe process and results of the development of problems based teaching tools in the elementary schools’ mathematic and its effectiveness. The subjects was students of SD Muhammadiyah 08 Dau Malang. The research phases based on model Plomp (1997), i.e. (1) investigation phase, (2) design phase, (3) realization phase, (4) validation, experimentation, and revision phase, and (5) implementation phase. The results were: (1) problems based teaching plan, (2) students’ book, (3) evaluation and students’ work sheet developed on the basis of problems based teaching.

Abstract

This research aimed at assessing the effectiveness of the creative problem-solving learning model in 8th grade of mathematics learning. The assessment of the effectiveness of learning model was reviewed based on three aspects, namely students’ activities, students’ responses to the learning model, and students’ learning outcomes. The type and approach, which used in this research, were quantitative descriptive with the research subjects of 8th-C class; moreover, the subjects consisted of 32 students. The instruments used to assess the effectiveness of the learning model were the students’ activity observation sheet, students’ responses questionnaire, and test sheet. The results of the research showed that the students’ activities were categorized as very good, in which the percentages were 84.38%. The students’ responses were categorized as very good with a percentage of 82.53%. The students’ learning outcomes in a classical manner could be said as complete with the completeness of 71.88%. Therefore, it can be concluded that the implementation of creative problem-solving learning model in mathematics learning can be said as effective.

Abstract

This research aimed at: 1) analyzing and describing the development of web-based interactive learning media, 2) analyzing and describing the effectiveness of web-based interactive learning media. The approach of this research was descriptive quantitative. The subjects of this research were the students of 7th grade of Junior High School. The instruments that used were the validation sheets of media and material experts, students’ response questionnaires, and test. The data analysis was done by calculating the score of each indicator to find out the validity, students’ responses, and the students’ learning outcomes.  Based on the validation result that obtained from the analysis of media validation, it was obtained the averages of 3,56 and it was very valid and the result of material validation analysis obtained the averages of 3,29 that meant valid. Therefore, the learning media was stated as proper to be tested.  However, the analysis result of students’ response analysis was obtained the averages of 87%, in which the learning media got very good response both of students and the students’ learning outcomes that showed the percentages of students achieved the KKM (Minimum Completeness Criteria) in the score of 75 as much as 100% with a very high criterion. Therefore, the web-based interactive learning media was stated as effective and could be used in the learning process.

Abstract

This study aims to determine how the effect of the Quantum Learning model using Mind Mapping techniques to students' creative thinking abilities. The type of research used is experiment and quantitative approach with research design using posttest only group design. Data analysis of two groups used the t-test on SPSS 21, that is Independent Sample t-Test to test the difference in average posttest value of two samples.The results of this study are (1) results of the t-test  from post-test data obtain a significance 0,000 where it is lower than 0.05 so can be said that the average of the two groups are different, (2) from the post-test results, the answers given by students from the experimental group more fulfilled the indicators of creative thinking than students from the control group.

Abstract

One of the learning stages is apperception. Warmer apperception is an activity that conducted to make the students’ knowledge to be stored in long-term memory. This research aimed at: 1) describing the learning implementation using Warmer apperception to construct a conceptual understanding in the vector material, 2) determining the effectiveness of the implementation of Warmer apperception to construct a conceptual understanding in the vector material. The effectiveness of learning using Warmer apperception could be seen from: 1) the observation of learning implementation using Warmer apperception that indicated a minimum of the sufficient category; 2) the students’ response questionnaire indicated a minimum of positive response category; and 3) the test results of students’ conceptual understanding indicated a minimum of quite a good category. The subjects of this research were the students of 10th grade of Mathematics and Natural Science (MIA) at Senior High School (SMA) of Muhammadiyah 3 Batu, in which it consisted of 21 students. Based on the research conducted, it was obtained that the observation results of learning implementation using Warmer apperception got a very good category, the questionnaire results obtained a positive response category, and the test results of students’ conceptual understanding got a quite good category. Thus, the implementation of Warmer apperception to construct a conceptual understanding of the vector material is effective..

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the types and the causes of students' errors in finding the results of reflection in the field of coordinates based on the Newman problem-solving. This research used descriptive research with a quantitative approach.  The data collection techniques were written test and a structured interview with the research subjects were Nints-grade students of Junior High School 2 Sampit.  Based on the results of the data analysis, there were errors made by students, namely: (1) there were no mistakes in the problem of reading stage, (2) students were not able to write down the known and asked even though students understood the questions presented in the stage of understanding the problem, (3) did not change the questions into a coordinate field in the stage of transformation problem, (4) misplaced of the result reflection and miscalculating the result of reflection on the process skill stage, (5) did not writing down the answers or conclusions in the writing answers stage.
