Abstract

Purpose –  This study addresses a critical gap in character education literature by examining how Indonesian parents in diaspora settings, specifically those with children attending Sekolah Indonesia Kuala Lumpur (SIKL), perceive and implement character education within the family. Given Generation Alpha’s deep immersion in technology and the shifting cultural identities of diaspora families, this research highlights the need for moral resilience fostered through family-based character development. Methods/Design/Approach – Using a qualitative approach, the study employed Focus Group Discussions (FGD) and in-depth interviews involving 30 purposively selected parents of SIKL students across grades X–XII. Data were collected through observation, semi-structured interviews, and document analysis, then thematically analyzed with the support of NVivo software. The analysis focused on six key dimensions of parental involvement: parenting, communication, home-based learning, contribution, decision-making, and collaboration. Findings – Parents consistently associated character education with empathy, honesty, religiosity, and emotional intelligence. Role modeling (35%), discussion and reflection (45%), and open communication emerged as dominant methods. Major challenges included children’s technology dependence (65%), limited parent–child time, and academic stress. Key support resources included family centers, faith communities, parenting groups, and social media networks. Originality/Value – This study offers novel insights into character education within transnational families, emphasizing the strategic role of parental engagement in preserving national identity and moral values in intercultural contexts. While exploratory, the study's findings serve as a theoretical and practical foundation for future research across diaspora settings. Practical Implications – Schools serving diaspora populations should institutionalize collaborative character education programs with active parental involvement. Family-centered training modules, value-based projects, and intercultural parenting forums are essential to maintain consistency in moral education. The study’s geographic and informant scope presents limitations, inviting future research to include student and teacher perspectives for a more holistic understanding. Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of social environment in the relationship between competencies and entrepreneurial interest of Vocational High School (SMK) students. Entrepreneurial competencies, which include practical skills, business knowledge, and creativity, are identified as important factors influencing entrepreneurial interest. However, the social environment-including family, peers, teachers and the local community-has a significant influence in shaping students' attitudes and motivation towards entrepreneurship. This review uses the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method to identify, evaluate and synthesize findings from previous research relevant to this topic. The results show that a supportive social environment, such as strong family support, entrepreneurial-oriented peers, and education supported by schools, can strengthen the influence of competencies on students' entrepreneurial interest. Conversely, an unsupportive social environment can inhibit entrepreneurial interest despite high competencies. This study concludes that the role of the social environment is crucial in facilitating and strengthening the relationship between competence and entrepreneurial interest, which can contribute to the increase of entrepreneurship among vocational students.

Abstract

This study focuses on determining what factors of entrepreneurial interest can affect student entrepreneurial attitudes, so the population and sample of this study were taken from Business Education Study Program students at the Universitas Negeri Malang, Universitas Negeri Surabaya, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta, and Universitas Negeri Jakarta. The sample to be used is 355 respondents with random sampling techniques and online survey applications to collect data from January to April 2023. The analysis technique used is regression analysis. The analysis test results showed that simultaneously, the five independent variables significantly affect the attitude of students in entrepreneurship. In contrast, partially, the variables Locus of Control, Need for Achievement, and Self-Efficacy do not affect students' attitudes toward entrepreneurship, and the variables Risk Taking, and Innovativeness affect the attitude of students toward entrepreneurship. The study results show that the novelty of research emphasizes understanding what factors can bring up the intentions and attitudes of entrepreneurship students. Therefore, there is a need for further research related to variables that can affect student interest in generating a positive attitude towards entrepreneurship.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate problems in inclusive learning for students with disabilities and their relationship with entrepreneurial motivation. The method used is Systematic Literature Review (SLR), collecting and analyzing relevant previous research. The results show various problems in the implementation of inclusive learning for students with disabilities, including lack of resources and training for teachers, and the existence of negative stereotypes. However, research has also found that effective inclusive learning can increase entrepreneurial motivation among learners with disabilities. These findings have important implications for the development of more effective and sustainable inclusive education policies. There needs to be efforts to improve accessibility, provide training for educators, and reduce stigma against students with disabilities. In addition, an emphasis on inclusive learning that encourages entrepreneurial motivation can help expand economic opportunities for individuals with disabilities, thereby supporting broader social inclusion.
