Abstract

ABSTRACT Small intestine infection caused by Giardia lamblia (giardiasis) occurs mostly in children living in developing country with poor sanitation. This study aims to determine the risk of giardiasis and personal hygiene conditions in pre-school students at KB-TK Al Amin Paciran Lamongan aged 2-6 years. Number of samples were 61 students, the dependent variable was the incidence of giardiasis, and independent variable was personal hygiene including nail hygiene, hand washing habit, footwear habit, and defecating habits. The result showed that 5 out of 61 students (8,2%) were infected with Giardia lamblia. All children (100%) with giardiasis had poor nail hygiene, footwear habit, and defecating habit. As many as 80% of students with giardiasis have poor handwashing habits. Students with poor footwear habit (OR=43,71; 95% CI 3,98-2046,9); open defecation habits (OR=13,33; 95% CI 1,40-628,05); poor nail hygiene (OR=12,31; 95% CI 1,29-580,49); poor hand washing habits (OR=5,73; 95% CI 0,5-290,96) had a greater risk of developing giardiasis. Supervision and healthy behavior are highly recommended, including using footwear when playing on the ground, defecating in the latrine, maintaining nail hygiene, and washing hands with soap before eating or after defecating. Abstract

Kata Kunci: Vaksin, Covid-19, Sehat, Sejahtera, Anti Vaksin  ABSTRACT Based on the COVID-19 Vaccine Acceptance survey in Indonesia, it was found that 65% of respondents received the vaccine, 27% were hesitant, and 8% refused. The reasons people refuse vaccines are because they still doubt their safety (30%), do not believe that vaccination will be effective (22%), do not believe in vaccines (13%), fear of side effects (12%), religious reasons (8%), and reasons others (15%). Even though vaccines are needed to prevent COVID-19 and end the pandemic. The refusal was due to the lack of knowledge and understanding of the community regarding the benefits and risks of vaccination. That's why we, the 64th UNAIR KKN-BBM group, held an online national health webinar to educate the public about COVID-19 vaccination and the actions taken after receiving the COVID-19 vaccine. A total of 401 participants were present and active in the question and answer session. The post test results obtained an average value of 66.33 from a maximum value of one hundred. Abstract

Introduction: Diarrhea is an endemic disease that causes extraordinary events (pandemic) and is often accompanied by death in Indonesia. Previous reports showed that children who practice poor hand washing or without using soap and running water are 2.175 times more likely to experience diarrhea. It was also discovered that exclusive breastfeeding can form antibodies and other nutrients that protect babies from infections such as diarrhea. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze the most influential factors between hand washing habits and exclusive breastfeeding on the incidence of diarrhea in Indonesia. Methods: This study used a meta-analysis method. Results and Discussions: The results showed that the pooled PR value of the hand washing habit variable e1.06 = 2.886 (95% CI 0.87 - 1.24) was greater than the exclusive breastfeeding e0.53 = 1.698 (95% CI 0.36 – 0.70). The data were obtained from articles and journals with a cross-sectional study design. Based on the results of the meta-analysis, people who did not apply proper hand washing habits are 2,886 times more at risk of diarrhea. Furthermore, babies who were not exclusively breastfed were 1,698 times more likely to have diarrhea than those who received exclusive breastfeeding. Conclusion: The results showed that the most influential factor between the two variables was the hand washing habit variable.
