Abstract

Abstrak : penggunaan wh- question dalam pengajaran teks narasi efektif untuk meningkatkan  pemahaman siswa akan teks narasi. Hal ini dibuktikan dari nilai posttest siswa yang lebih baik daripada nilai pretest. Nilai mean pada pretest adalah 43.60 sedangkan nilai mean post test adalah 78.40. interval skor untuk perbandingan nilai pretest dan posttest adalah 34.80. dimana nilai t perbedaan antara kedua test adalah 2.3 yang menggambarkan nilai t dengan pada degress of freedom 0.05 pada level significant 2.042. dari hasil perbandingan kedua test dibuktikan bahwa perbedaan 2.3 lebih tinggi daripada 2.042. hasil ini mengidinkasikan bahawa h0 ditolak dan ha diterima. Pembuktian ini menggambarakan bahwa wh questions efektif untuk meningkatan pemahaman siswa kelas 8 SMP Negeri 1 Mempawah Hulu Kabupaten Landak pada tahun akademik 2011/201 akan teks narasi.   Kata kunci : mengajar, membaca, narasi, wh questions   Abstract : Using wh- questions in teaching reading narrative text was effective to improve the post-test students’ reading comprehension on narrative text. It was shown by the students’ score which was better than pre-test. The mean score of pre-test is 43.60 while post-test was 78.40.     The students’ achievement improved with the interval score of pre-test and post-test was 34.80. The obtain t-value of the differences of the test was 2.3, whereas in the t-table the t-value with 39 degrees of freedom at 0.05 level of significant was 2.042. From this result, we could conclude that the obtained t-value was higher than t-table (2.3 >2.042). It indicated that the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected, and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. It means that the using of wh questions in teaching reading narrative text is effective to improve the students’ reading comprehension by the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Mempawah Hulu Kabupaten Landak in academic year 2011/2012.   Keywords : teaching, reading, narrative,  wh questions

Abstract

Abstract: The main purpose of conducting this research was to investigate whether or not the effectiveness of educational video in teaching vocabulary to the eighth grade students of SMPN 4 Tanjung Raya 1 in academic year 2011/2012. For this purpose, the writer conducted a pre-experimental research by using educational video. The samples were the eighth grade students of SMPN 4 Tanjung Raya I, which consisted of 20 students. The tools used for collecting data were pre-test and post-test. The writer gave two treatments in different time.  The data showed that the score of post-test was higher than the score of pretest. The students’ pre-test mean score was 39.5. So, the result of pre-test was classified as “Poor”. On the other hand, after giving the treatment, the students’ post-test mean score was 72.25. It was classified as “Good to Excellent”. Moreover, the students’ interval score of pre-test and post-test was 32.75. Therefore, it showed that there was a difference between score of pretest and post-test after treatment. In conclusion, this research proved that the use of educational video as the teaching media was effective to help students in mastering vocabulary. Key words: educational video, teaching vocabulary Abstrak: Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mencari tahu apakah penggunaan dari video edukasi efektif dalam mengajarkan kosakata kepada murid kelas VIII SMPN 4 Tanjung Raya 1 di tahun akademis 2011/2012. Metodologi penelitian ini adalah pre eksperimental dengan mengunakan video edukasi. Sample dari penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII SMPN 4 Tanjung Raya yang berjumlah 20 orang. Pengumpulan data mengunakan pre test dan post test. Penulis memberikan dua treatment yang berbeda di waktu yang berbeda. Berdasarkan data nilai dari post test lebih tinggi di bandingkan nilai pretest. Rata-rata nilai pretest 39,5, jadi hasil dari nilai pretest di klasifikasikan “rendah”. Di lain pihak setelah diberikan treatment, nilai rata-rata post test dari murid adalah 72,25. Hasil ini diklasifikasikan “bagus mendekati sempurna”. Perbedaan dari pretest dan post test adalah 32.75. terlihat perbedaan antara nilai pretest dan post test setelah treatment. Dengan demikian, penelitian ini membuktikan penggunaan video edukasi sebagai media mengajar adalah efektif  membantu murid dalam menguasai kosa kata. Kata kunci : video animasi, mengajarkan kosakata

TeknikDictoglossdapatmembantusiswameningkatkkankemampuanmenulisteks narrative Kata kunci: kemampuanmenulis, teknikdictogloss, penelitiantindakan kelas, teks narrative.   Abstract: This study was a classroom action research (CAR) to the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 10 Pontianak in academic year 2012/2013. The purpose of this research was to improve their ability in writing narrative texts. In this study, Dictogloss technique was used as a strategy to help students in writing narrative texts. The processes of Dictogloss technique in this research were preparation, dictation, discussion, reconstruction, analysis and correction. The techniques of data collecting in this research were observation checklists and field notes to record the process in the classroom; and written test to measure the students’ ability in writing narrative text.Data was analyzed by using scoring profile. The students’ writing ability in narrative texts improved in three cycles from 67,23 in cycle 1, then improved to 72,86 in cycle 2 and improved to 80,11 in cycle 3. In conclusion, the Dictogloss technique can help the students improve their writing ability on narrative text and using simple past tense correctly. Abstract

Abstract: The research investigated the evidence that this technique was useful to use in reinforcing students vocabulary. This was a pre experimental research with one group pre-test and post-test design. There were 10 students which participated in this research. The data were collected by objective tests and analyzed by paired t-test and effect size formula using Cohen’s index. Based on the research findings, the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected, while alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. The t absolute (2.41) was bigger than t critical (1.860) by degree of freedom 8. The effect size was categorized as large effect since the r value was 0.99, bigger than 0.80. To conclude, the use of Jazz Chant technique is significant and very effective to reinforce vocabulary mastery of Year-7 students of SMP Islam Bawari in Academic Year 2015/2016.   Keywords: Reinforce, Jazz Chant technique, Students’ Vocabulary Mastery Abstrak: Penelitian ini menemukan bukti bahwa tehnik Jazz Chant berguna untuk mengasah kemampuan kosakata siswa. Penelitian ini berbentuk eksperimen dengan satu grup pre-test dan post-test. Terdapat 10 siswa yang berpartisipasi dalam penelitian ini. Data diperoleh melalui tes objektif dan dianalisis dengan menggunakan rumus indeks Cohen yaitu uji-t berpasangan dan ukuran efek. Berdasarkan temuan penelitian, hipotesis nol (H0) ditolak, sedangkan hipotesis alternatif (Ha) diterima. t hitung (2.41) lebih besar dari pada t tabel (1.860) dengan derajat kebebasan 8. Ukuran efek dikategorikan sebagai efek besar karena nilai r nya adalah 0.99, lebih besar dibandingkan 0.80. Dapat ditarik kesimpulan bahwa penggunaan Jazz Chant technique adalah penting dan sangat efektif untuk mengasah kemampuan kosakata siswa kelas 7 di SMP Islam Bawari pada tahun akademik 2015/2016.   Kata Kunci: Mengasah, Tehnik Jazz Chant, Kemampuan Kosa Kata Siswa

Abstract

Abstract: This research aimed to improve students’ ability to comprehend spoof text using reciprocal technique. The writer applied classroom action research in three cycles. The subjects of this research were the eleventh grade students, science 2 class, in SMA Negeri 6 Pontianak, academic year 2013/2014. There were 36 students in that class, yet only 35 who came in the whole cycles were analyzed. The data was collected using observation checklist, field notes and written test. The technique applied in this research is the reciprocal technique which is consisted of predicting, questioning, clarifying and summarizing. It revealed that the students improved their score of the test. Students’ average score in the first cycle was 64 which then improved in the second (77) and third cycles (83.1). There are three main features of the spoof text analyzed; main idea and detailed information, language features identification and the twist. Key words: Reciprocal, Spoof text, Reading Comprehension Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan siswa untuk memahami teks spoof menggunakan teknik resiprokal. Peneliti menggunakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas dalam tiga siklus. Subyek Penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas 11 Ipa 2 SMA Negeri 6 Pontianak TA 2013/2014. Ada 36 siswa, namun hanya 35 siswa yang mengikuti keseluruhan siklus yang akan dianalisis. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan ceklis observasi, catatan lapangan dan tes tertulis. Teknik yang diaplikasikan di penelitian ini adalah teknik resiprokal, yang terdiri atas memprediksi, bertanya, klarifikasi dan menyimpulkan. Hasil Penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai siswa meningkat di tiap siklus. Rerata nilai siswa di tiap siklus adalah 64, 77, dan 83.1. Ada tiga hal utama dari teks spoof yang menjadi poin penelitian, yaitu ide pokok dan informasi detail, identifikasi fitur bahasa, dan twist dari teks spoof. Abstract

Abstrak: Sebagian besar dari siswa kelas 4 Madrasah Asysyamsiyah Pontianak tidak bias mengucapkan kata dengan baik dan tidak mengetahui arti dari kata tersebut. Oleh karena itu, penerapan teknik Jumbled Letter dan Pictures akan membantu mereka dalam mengucapkan kata dengan lafal yang benar dan memudahkan mereka dalam mengingat arti kata-kata tersebut. Metode penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas yang diterapkan pada 36 siswa kelas 4 Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Asysyamsiyah Pontianak. Pengumpulan datanya melalui test tertulis seperti pilihan ganda, isian dan  catatan selama pengamatan. Hasil pada siklus pertama sangat tidakmemuaskan yaitu 52,97, sedangkan pada siklus kedua hasil nya sangat memuaskan yaitu 69,61.   Kata kunci: Pengucapan, teknik Jumbled Letter and Pictures, mengetahui arti dari kata Abstract: Most of fourth grade students MI Asysyamsiyah could not pronoun and did not know the meaning of the words. Therefore, Jumbled letter and Pictures techniques was applied to improve students’ pronunciation and help them to memorize the meaning of the words. This study was conducted by applying classroom action research on the 36 students of the fourth grade of MI Asysyamsiyah Pontianak. The tool of data collecting was an essay test, multiple choice, and field notes. The result of the study was that the students’ progress during teaching and learning activity in Cycle 1 and Cycle 2. In Cycle 1 mean score was 52, 97, and in Cycle 2 the students’ improved significantly become 69, 61.   Keywords: Pronunciation, Jumbled Letter and Pictures techniques, understand the meaning of the words

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to know whether What Comes Next technique affected significantly on learners action verbs achievement and to know the effect size of the technique. The form of this research is pre-experimental study with one group pretest and posttest design. The population was all the eleventh grade learners of SMA Negeri 3 Pontianak. By using cluster random sampling technique, the sample was XI Science 6 class consisted of 33 learners. The data collection technique was measurement technique and the tool of data collection was a test consisted of 25 items in the form of multiple choice. The result of the T-test was 12.25. It was higher than t-critical score (12.25 > 2.03). This indicated that the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted, meaning that What Comes Next Technique affect significantly in teaching vocabulary for the eleventh grade learners in SMA Negeri 3 Pontianak in the academic year of 2019/2020. The score of the effect size of the treatment was 2.08 and classed as Strong effect. As a result, it can be concluded that What Comes Next Technique give a strong effect in teaching vocabulary for the eleventh grade learners in SMA Negeri 3 Pontianak in the academic year of 2019/2020.

Abstract

This research is about the use of Auditory Cohesion Activity to raise students listening ability on advance learner of TEFL. The researcher took sample from Eleventh Grade of SMA SANTUN UNTAN Pontianak in Academic Year 2017-2018. The aim of this research was to find out how effective the use of Auditory Cohesion Activity to raise students listening ability is. In conducting this research, the researcher used a Pre-experimental as the method of the research. This research consisted of 3 phases, namely; pre-test, treatment, and post-test.  The researcher provided the material and the media that needed in this research. The English teacher of SMA SANTUN led the students did the test and the treatment. The finding of this research shows that there was an improvement on students listening ability through Auditory Cohesion Activity. The effectiveness of Auditory Cohesion Activity on students listening ability could be seen from students’ activity through the whole auditory cohesion activity phase and students’ test score. It has shown by the result of post-test which was higher than pre-test. Before the treatment was given, the mean score of pre-test was 26.40. After they had been given treatment the mean score of students’ post-test is 46.30. From the data analysis, the result of the effect size computation is 3.8. It is higher than 0.5. It means that the use of auditory cohesion activity gave a significant effect, to increase students listening ability.

Abstract

This research was conducted to design Interactive Listening Learning Multimedia; an interactive multimedia as a teaching and learning media to support “Bahasa Inggris for Grade Ten” book. The research aims to determine whether the interactive listening learning multimedia as the supplementary teaching media is usable to support “Bahasa Inggris for Grade Ten” book or not. The form of this research is developmental research. The method of this research was design and development research. The researcher applied ADDIE as the procedure. In this research, the researcher only implemented three phases which are analysing, designing, and developing (ADD) because of time limitation. The interview for analysing phase was administered in SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Pontianak. The researcher created the multimedia using Powerpoint. In development phase, the researcher used internal evaluation to make sure that the multimedia is usable. To sum up, it is found that interactive listening learning multimedia is usable to support “Bahasa Inggris for Grade Ten” Book.

Abstract

This study focused on analyzing the use of Rosetta Stone Language Learning Software in teaching listening comprehension. Based on three previous journal from different universities in Indonesia the writer found that selected institutional repository website in Indonesia discusses about using Rosetta Stone Language Learning Software in teaching listening comprehension. The data described the facts on the use of Rosetta Stone based on the results of research by three researchers which have been published in three scholarly publications in Indonesia. This research is to find out the effectiveness of Rosetta Stone Software in teaching listening comprehension, this study had two data, the primary data (research journals) and secondary data (books). The conclusion that can be taken based on these research reports is the use of Rosetta Stone Software in improving students’ listening skills is effective. There are significant differences in learning listening comprehension between those who had been taught by using Rosetta Stone media and those who had not been taught by using Rosetta Stone media in terms of the scores the students got in the pre-test and post-test.
