Abstract

Learning can foster students’ character as well as their understanding. Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) is one of learning approach to foster those competences. In this research, the learningbased RME will be supported by using the Geometer's Sketchpad. This study aims to improve the students’ character through Realistic Mathematics Education using Geometer's Sketchpad on proportion topic and analyze the student's learning achievement . The subjects of this research are the 25 eighth grade students in one of public secondary school in Aceh Tamiang, Aceh. Instruments used in the study are character observation sheets and test to assess students’ learning achievement. The data analysis technique used is descriptive analysis. The result of data analysis shows that the implementation of Realistic Mathematics Education using Geometer's Sketchpad in topic of proportion can improve student's critical and creative thinking. In addition student's learning achievement met the minimal mastery criteria.

Abstract

AStudents’ skills in expressing mathematical ideas in various ways have not met the expectation. Teachers need to apply the learning providing students’ opportunities to present their mathematical ideas. Utilizing the Brain-Based Learning (BBL) approach with Autograph can help students develop their mathematical communication skills. The purpose of this study was to analyze the development of students’ mathematical communication skills. Twenty-eight 10th grade students in one of the high schools in Banda Aceh participated in the study. The instruments used were a mathematical communication skills test and the activity observation. Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis. The study showed that mathematics learning applying BBL approach with Autograph contribute to developing students’ mathematical communication skills.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengelompokkan variabel dependen tubuh gajah sebelum, saat, dan sesudah bencana dan mengetahui model diskriminan fisher yang dihasilkan dari penelitian ini. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah studi pustaka dengan mengambil data dari beberapa jurnal yang berkaitan dengan tingkah laku gajah untuk mengetahui gejala alam. Penelitian dilakukan dengan bantuan software SPSS dalam mengelompokkan data variabel-variabel kedalam kategori sebelum bencana, saat bencana, dan setelah bencana dengan metode Fisher. Abstract

Matematika penting diajarkan pada semua jenjang pendidikan, mulai dari sekolah dasar sampai perguruan tinggi. Pembelajaran matematika tidak cukup diajarkan dengan mencatat dan contoh-contoh saja, akan tetapi harus diikuti dengan mengerjakan latihan-latihan tentang materi yang sudah diajarkan. Kurikulum 2013 mengamatkan untuk mengintegrasikan ICT dalam pembelajaran, salah satunya pada materi matriks. Matriks merupakan salah satu materi matematika yang dirasakan sulit oleh siswa, siswa cenderung mengalami kesulitan dalam menyelesaikan soal-soal yang berkaitan dengan matriks. Hal ini disebabkan guru hanya memberikan contoh-contoh saja dan kurangnya menggunakan latihan-latihan dalam pembelajaran. Salah satu model pembelajaran yang sesuai dalam masalah ini adalah model pembelajaran yang dapat membantu siswa dalam meningkatkan pemahaman konsep yaitu model pembelajaran Missouri Mathematics Project (MMP). Model pembelajaran MMP merupakan suatu program yang didesain untuk membantu guru dalam hal efektivitas penggunaan latihan-latihan agar siswa mencapai peningkatan pemahaman konsep. Pelaksanaan model pembelajaran MMP dapat lebih maksimal dengan memanfaatkan ICT dalam pembelajaran seperti software GeoGebra, namun hingga saat ini belum tersedia ide dan cara mengajar yang mengintegrasikan ICT dalam pembelajaran matematika yang dapat digunakan guru. Sedangkan kemampuan guru dalam mengembangkan pembelajaran yang mengintegrasikan ICT masih terbatas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan perangkat pembelajaran yang valid, praktis dan efektif. Model pengembangan yang digunakan adalah model Plomp yang terdiri atas tahap investigasi awal, tahap perancangan, dan tahap penilaian. Subjek ujicoba dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI IPA MAN 2 Subulussalam. Berdasarkan hasil pengembangan diperoleh perangkat pembelajaran Model MMP berbantuan Software GeoGebra dikatakan valid terlihat dari hasil validasi menunjukkan kreteria valid. Perangkat pembelajaran yang dikembangkan dikatakan praktis terlihat dalam rekomendasi validator bahwa perangkat pembelajaran dapat digunakan dengan sedikit revisi dan keterlaksanaan pembelajaran rata-rata 5 tergolong kriteria sangat baik. Perangkat pembelajaran yang dikembangkan dikatakan efektif terlihat dari rata-rata aktivitas on task siswa baik, rata-rata aktivitas siswa juga baik, adanya peningkatan skor tes formatif, guru dan siswa memberikan respon positif terhadap penggunaan perangkat pembelajaran di kelas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perangkat pembelajaran model MMP berbantuan software GeoGebra yang terdiri atas materi ajar, Rencana Pelaksanaan Pembelajaran (RPP), Lembar Kerja Siswa (LKS) dan Tes Hasil Belajar (THB) memenuhi kriteria valid, praktis dan efektif.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe students' mathematical problem solving abilities during learning process with Creative Problem Solving (CPS) model and simultaneously to see the improvement of problem solving ability of students. This research uses a qualitative approach together with quantitative through concurrent embedded strategy. The sample of research is 22 students of class VIII SMP Negeri 4 Pilot Aceh Tamiang. The instruments used are problem solving and semi-structured test. Data of problem solving ability of student during learning with CPS model was analyzed descriptively, while improvement of problem solving ability of student was analyzed by t-test using SPSS software version 22 for windows. The results showed that there was development of problem solving ability of students during learning with CPS model. The development of students 'problem-solving abilities is demonstrated by students' ability to understand problems, plan settlements, solve problems and re-examine them. This ability is evident at every meeting. Further research results also show there is an increase in problem solving skills of students with CPS model.

Abstract

[Bahasa]: Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui kemampuan berpikir kreatif dan pemecahan masalah siswa sesudah penerapan model Project based learning dibandingkan dengan sebelum penerapan model tersebut serta korelasi antara kemampuan berpikir kreatif dan pemecahan masalah. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen dengan desain penelitian one-group pretest-postest group design. Populasi penelitian ini adalah siswa Madrasah Tsanawiyah Swasta Darul Ulum Banda Aceh sedangkan sampel penelitian yaitu siswa kelas VIII2 sebanyak 30 siswa. Instrumen dalam penelitian ini terdiri atas tes kemampuan berpikir kreatif dan pemecahan masalah. Analisis data dilakukan secara kuantitatif menggunakan uji t yaitu Paired Samples T-Test untuk pengujian perbedaan skor yang diperoleh siswa sebelum pembelajaran (pretes) dan setelah pembelajaran (postes). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan berpikir kreatif dan pemecahan masalah siswa setelah penerapan model Project based learning lebih baik dari sebelum penerapan. Selain itu, terdapat hubungan antara kemampuan berpikir kreatif dan pemecahan masalah siswa yang belajar melalui penerapan model Project based learning. Hubungan kemampuan berpikir kreatif dan pemecahan masalah berada pada kategori cukup. Kata kunci: Berpikir Kreatif; Pemecahan Masalah; Project based learning [English]: This research aims to understand the students’ creative thinking and problem solving ability after implementing project based learning compared to before implementation and correlation between creative thinking and problem solving ability. It is an experiment research with one-group pretest-postest group design. The population is all students in Madrasah Tsanawiyah Swasta Darul Ulum Banda Aceh, 30 students are selected as samples. The instruments used are creative thinking and problem solving test. Data analysis used t-test, i.e. paired samples T-test to examine score difference before the implementation of project based learning (pretest) and after it (posttest). The result shows that creative thinking and problem solving ability after implementation is better than before it. In addition, there is a correlation between creative thinking and problem solving ability in ‘enough’ category. Keywords: Creative Thinking; Problem Solving; Project Based Learning

Abstract

Geometry is one of the topics that students must comprehend in mathematics. However, in reality, the students' ability concerning geometry is relatively low due to their low spatial reasoning ability. The ELPSA framework is one of the solutions to develop students' spatial reasoning abilities. This study aimed to describe students' spatial reasoning ability and the impact on retention through the ELPSA framework. This research was part of the ELPSA framework research and development. The subjects were four students, chosen from 25 Grade 7 students from one of the junior high schools in Banda Aceh. They were selected based on the percentage of spatial reasoning aspects mastered. The instrument used was a semi-structured interview that was preceded by a written test. The results showed that the four subjects could manipulate objects in their mind to change the shape of D-3 to D-2. However, one of them could not determine its relation precisely. Three out of four subjects could imagine the appearance of an object from different perspectives. Besides, two out of four subjects could visualize objects to determine the number of unit cubes contained in the solid geometry and only one subject could imagine objects from various perspectives to determine the surface area but did not use the given measurement.

Abstract

Problem solving skills are very important for every student to have. Students are still difficult to draw conclusions, understand problems, and provide reasons for the answers produced. One way to develop students' ability to solve problem solving problems is to get students to develop questions. When students make questions it is expected to understand the questions well. The strategy that can be used to familiarize students with developing questions is through the Problem Posing approach. The purpose of this study is to analyze the students' ability to develop problem solving questions. This study uses a qualitative approach with descriptive types. The subjects of this study were six students at Junior High School 3 Banda Aceh. Students 'ability in compiling problem solving questions is analyzed by categorizing the students' questions based on the type of difficulties that are seen from the structure of the language and the structure of mathematics. The results showed that students who meet the indicators understand the problem, make plans, carry out plans and check again, are able to make problems in terms of mathematical structures containing propositions to change, restate and vary, in terms of language structures containing presuppositions. Furthermore, students who meet the indicators understand the problem, make plans and implement plans, make the problems in terms of the mathematical structure containing propositions grouping and varying, in terms of the structure of the language containing the assignment propositions. The results also showed that students who met the indicators understood the problem and made a plan, were able to make the problem in terms of the mathematical structure containing the proposition restated and in terms of the language structure containing the assignment proposition. Abstrak Kemampuan pemecahan masalah sangat penting untuk dimiliki oleh setiap siswa. Siswa masih sulit untuk membuat kesimpulan, memahami permasalahan, dan memberikan alasan atas jawaban yang dihasilkan. Salah satu cara untuk mengembangkan kemampuan siswa menyelesaikan soal pemecahan masalah adalah dengan membiasakan siswa menyusun soal. Ketika siswa membuat soal diharapkan untuk memahami soal dengan baik. Strategi yang dapat digunakan untuk membiasakan siswa menyusun soal adalah melalui pendekatan Problem Posing. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah menganalisis kemampuan siswa dalam menyusun soal pemecahan masalah. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis deskriptif. Subjek penelitian ini adalah enam siswa pada SMP Negeri 3 Banda Aceh. Kemampuan siswa dalam menyusun soal pemecahan masalah dianalisis dengan mengkategorikan soal-soal yang dibuat siswa berdasarkan jenis kesulitannya yaitu dilihat dari struktur bahasa dan struktur matematika. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa yang memenuhi indikator memahami masalah, membuat rencana, melaksanakan rencana dan memeriksa kembali, mampu membuat soal ditinjau dari struktur matematika memuat proposisi mengubah, menyatakan kembali dan memvariasikan, ditinjau dari struktur bahasa memuat proposisi pengandaian. Selanjutnya siswa yang memenuhi indikator memahami masalah, membuat rencana dan melaksanakan rencana, membuat soal ditinjau dari struktur matematika memuat proposisi mengelompokkan dan memvariasikan, ditinjau dari struktur bahasa memuat proposisi penugasan. Hasil penelitian juga menunjukkan bahwa siswa yang memenuhi indikator memahami masalah dan membuat rencana, mampu membuat soal ditinjau dari struktur matematika memuat proposisi menyatakan kembali dan ditinjau dari struktur bahasa memuat proposisi penugasan. Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menyelidiki perkembangan kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa melalui Model Discovery Learning di SMPN 6 Banda Aceh.Penelitian ini menjalankan pendekatan kuantitatif dan kualitatif secara bersama-sama (mix method) dengan jenis penelitian Concurrent Triangulation Strategy.Populasi penelitian yaitu seluruh siswa kelas VIII-4 SMPN 6 Banda Aceh yang berjumlah 30 siswa. Sedangkan sampel penelitian yaitu lima siswa yang terdiriatas satu kelompok belajar yang dipilih secara random dari enam kelompok belajar.Data kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa dikumpulkan melalui tes kemampuan penalaran matematisdan wawancara semi terstruktur.Data kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa yang diperoleh selanjutnya dianalisis dengan melihat kesesuaian data tes dengan wawancara dan relevansinya dengan indikator kemampuan penalaran matematis.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa melalui Model Discovery Learning berkembang secara bervariasi.Pada awal penerapan model siswa kesulitan mengembangkan kemampuannya.Hal ini disebabkan karena siswa belum terbiasa dengan kegiatan pembelajaran yang dilaksanakan berdasarkan sintaks Model Discovery Learning.Siswa terbiasa menerima materi dari guru dalam bentuk jadi.Upaya guru memotivasi dan menggali keberanian siswa pada akhirnya dapat membantu siswa mencapai tujuan pembelajaran dan mengembangkan kemampuan penalaran matematis.Implikasi penelitian ini yaitu penerapan Model Discovery Learning dapat mengembangkan kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa. Guru hendaknya memperluas penerapan model pembelajaran tersebut untuk materi matematika lainnya dengan harapan dapat meningkatkan kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perkembangan kemampuan representasi matematis dan Self Confindece siswa SMP melalui penerapan model Problem Based Learning (PBL). Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif. Subjek yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah dua orang siswa kelas VII. Pengambilan siswa berdasarkan hasil tes dan konsultasi dengan guru. Pengumpulan data dilakukan menggunakan tes dan wawancara semi terstruktur. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk memperoleh data kemampuan representasi matematis selama proses pembelajaran dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran PBL berupa hasil tes individu setiap pertemuan, sedangkan instrumen yang digunakan untuk memperoleh data Self Confidece siswa berupa angket. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran dengan model PBL dapat membantu menumbuhkan perkembangan kemampuan representasi matematis siswa terlihat dari hasil tes individu setiap pertemuan dan hasil wawancara semi terstruktur siswa. Meskipun siswa belum dapat memenuhi semua indikator yang diukur, namun terlihat sebahagian besar siswa telah dapat memenuhi sebahagian besar indikator representasi matematis yaitu (1) menyajikan data atau informasi dari suatu masalah ke representasi gambar, diagram, grafik atau tabel, (2) menyelesaikan masalah yang melibatkan ekspresi matematis. Hanya satu indikator kemampuan representasi matematis yang tidak terpenuhi yaitu menuliskan langkah-langkah penyelesaian masalah matematika. Kemampuan Self Confindece siswa mengalami perkembangan secara klasikal dan memiliki dampak positif terhadap kemampuan representasi matematis siswa terhadap proses pembelajaran PBL sesuai dengan indikator Self Confindece. Penelitian ini memberikan gambaran tentang pentingnya melatih siswa menjawab soal non-routin melalui pembelajaran. Tantangan bagi guru untuk membiasakan siswa merepresentasi dan melakukan langkah-langkah penyelesaian masalah secara sistematis serta memiliki kepercayaan diri dalam menjawab soal. Pembelajaran yang dilaksanakan guru berpengaruh terhadap terbentuknya kebiasaan siswa. Katakunci : kemampuan representasi matematis, self confindece,model PBL This research is to know the development of mathematical representation abilities and self-confidence of junior high school students through the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model.This type of research is qualitative research. The subjects used in this research isthe students of Junior High School at class VII. The students are taking by consultation with the teacher. Data collection was performed using semi-structured tests and interviews.The instrument used to obtain mathematical representation ability data during the learning process by using the PBL learning model in the form of individual test results at each meeting, while the instrument used to obtain students' Self Confidence data in the form of a questionnaire.The results was showed that learn with the PBL model can help students to grow the development of students 'mathematical representation abilities seen from the results of individual tests at each meeting and the results of students' semi-structured interviews. Although students have not been able to meet all the measured indicators, it appears that most students have been able to meet most of the mathematical representation indicators, namely (1) presenting data or information from a problem to the representation of images, diagrams, graphs or tables, (2) solving problems that involves mathematical expressions. Only one indicator of mathematical representation ability that is not fulfilled is to write steps to solve mathematical problems. The ability of Self Confindece students have developed classically and has a positive impact on the ability of students' mathematical representation of the PBL learning process in accordance with the Self Confindece indicator. This study provides an overview of the importance of training students to answer non-routin problems through learning. The challenge for the teacher is to get the students to represent and take steps to solve problems systematically and have confidence in answering questions.
