Abstract

Kata Kunci: Academic burnout syndrome, gayatri mantra, emotional freedom technique, mahasiswa keperawatanEffects of Gayatri Mantra and Emotional Freedom Technique (GEFT) on Academic Burnout Syndrome (ABS)ABSTRACTNursing students are at risk of suffering from Academic Burnout Syndrome (ABS) due to high academic demands. The condition of ABS in students may affect their academic activities. Gayatri Mantra and Emotional Freedom Technique (GEFT) are non-pharmacological therapies that utilize positive energy flows in the individual's body, but little is known about their effect on reducing ABS in students. Objective: To reveal the effects of GEFT on ABS in nursing students. Methods: This research design was a quasi-experiment with a pre-posttest design with a control group. A sample size of 16 people each in the intervention and control groups were selected through purposive sampling. The GEFT intervention was made ± 10 minutes, once a day for 6 consecutive days. Data were collected using the MBI-SS questionnaire and analyzed using Paired T-Test and Independent T-Test. Results: In the intervention and control groups during the pre-test, most respondents (56.2%) experienced severe burnout. However, 56.2% of respondents in the intervention group experienced moderate burnout at the post-test with a p-value of 0.000. 62.5% of respondents in the control group experienced severe burnout with a p-value = 0.917. Discussion: The ABS levels in nursing students change after the GEFT therapy because reciting the Gayatri Mantra is believed to help open the chakras in the human body. Chakras are located at the meridian points of the human body. Therefore, when the Gayatri Mantra is combined with EFT therapy (stimulating the body's meridian points to balance energy), it can help optimize physical and psychological health. Conclusion: It is expected that educational institutions can perform GEFT exercises on students who suffer from ABS to maintain stable conditions and improve student academic performance. Keywords: Academic burnout syndrome, gayatri mantra, emotional freedom technique, nursing students

Abstract

The integration of cultural values into higher education is receiving increasing attention due to its role in shaping character, social responsibility, and academic culture. The Tri Hita Karana (THK) philosophy is a local value framework that emphasizes harmony in human relationships with God (parahyangan), fellow human beings (pawongan), and the environment (palemahan). However, understanding how internal actors in higher education institutions perceive THK values remains limited. This study aims to analyze lecturers' perceptions regarding the internalization of THK values within the academic culture of higher education institutions. The study employs a descriptive, quantitative design and involves 98 lecturers selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a Tri Hita Karana questionnaire covering the dimensions of Parahyangan, Pawongan, and Palemahan. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics. The results indicate that lecturers have a very high perception of the implementation of THK values across all dimensions. The findings indicate that THK has gained legitimacy as a shared value framework within the academic environment and is perceived as part of the organizational culture of higher education institutions. The study reinforces the view that local wisdom not only functions as a cultural symbol but also has the potential to become an indigenous organizational culture that supports the development of values-based higher education. The results contribute to the development of discourse on integrating local wisdom into higher education management and to the strengthening of a more humanistic, harmonious, and sustainable academic culture.

Abstract

Inadequate implementation of caring behaviors can negatively impact the quality of nursing care. Several factors, including spiritual leadership, can affect this. However, empirical evidence supporting this relationship is limited. Therefore, this study aimed to explore the relationship between spiritual leadership and nurses' caring behavior. The study used a quantitative design with a sample of 114 nurses through a total sampling technique. The instruments were spiritual leadership and caring behavior questionnaires with a five-point Likert scale that was analyzed using Spearman's Rho correlation test. The findings showed that nurses' understanding of spiritual leadership and caring behavior was in a good category. There was a positive relationship between spiritual leadership and nurses' caring behavior, but the strength of the relationship was relatively weak. Nonetheless, the results indicate the importance of spiritual leadership in nurses' caring behavior in hospital services.

Abstract

Spiritual leadership is considered to have a positive impact on organisational sustainability, but its understanding remains limited to higher education institutions. This study aims to examine and broaden the understanding of value-based spiritual leadership in higher education institutions. The research uses a qualitative approach with a narrative literature review design. The analysis is conducted thematically and through critical conceptual synthesis of spiritual leadership, organisational values, and educational management. The findings identify five dimensions of spiritual leadership in higher education institutions: vision, hope/faith, altruistic love, soulful Directive, and organizational inclusivity. These dimensions emphasize the importance of moral reflection and structural justice in the diversity and complexity of higher education institutions. An understanding of this fosters spiritual wellbeing through a multidimensional approach that encompasses personal, communal, environmental, and transcendental aspects. The model shapes holistic spiritual leadership in higher education. Higher education management needs to build value-based spiritual leadership that is reflective, humanistic, and transformative.

Abstract

Uterine fibroids are benign tumors originating from the smooth muscle of the uterus, and their diagnosis can be established through histopathological examination using Hematoxylin and Eosin (H&E) staining. One of the important stages in tissue preparation is the fixation process using 10% Neutral Buffered Formalin (NBF), as the duration of fixation may affect the quality of tissue staining. This study aimed to determine the effect of 10% NBF fixation duration on the quality of Hematoxylin and Eosin (H&E) staining in uterine fibroid tissue with fixation times of 12, 24, and 48 hours. This study employed an analytical experimental design and was conducted at Wangaya Regional General Hospital from January to February. Data were analyzed using the Shapiro–Wilk normality test, which showed that the data were not normally distributed; therefore, the Kruskal–Wallis test was subsequently performed. The results showed a p-value of 0.006, indicating a significant difference among the groups. Post hoc analysis using the Mann–Whitney test demonstrated significant differences between the 12-hour and 24-hour fixation groups (p = 0.047) and between the 12-hour and 48-hour fixation groups (p = 0.007), whereas no significant difference was found between the 24-hour and 48-hour fixation groups. The results indicate that the duration of 10% NBF fixation affects the quality of Hematoxylin and Eosin (H&E) staining in uterine fibroid tissue, in which fixation for 24–48 hours provides better staining quality than fixation for 12 hours. This study is expected to serve as a reference for determining tissue fixation duration in routine histopathological examinations and for further research regarding tissue fixation processes and the quality of Hematoxylin and Eosin (H&E) staining. Keywords: Fixation Time, 10% Neutral Buffered Formalin, H&E Staining.

Abstract

Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) is one of the most prevalent diseases that requires rapid and accurate laboratory diagnosis. Urine examination using dipstick methods serves as a practical diagnostic alternative. However, the stability of urine specimens subjected to delayed examination needs further evaluation, particularly regarding pH and leukocyte parameters. This study aimed to determine the differences in urine pH and leukocyte results between fresh urine and urine stored for 2 hours at room temperature using the dipstick method in UTI patients. This experimental study employed a quantitative approach. A total of 30 urine samples were collected from UTI patients at RSAD Tk. II Udayana. Each sample was analyzed under two conditions: immediately (fresh urine) and after 2 hours of storage at room temperature (delayed urine), yielding a total of 60 measurements. The results showed an increase in the median urine pH from 6.0 to 6.5 and a decrease in leukocyte count from a median of 125 to 70 after 2 hours of storage at room temperature, with statistically significant differences (p < 0.05). These findings indicate that delaying urine examination for 2 hours can affect pH and leukocyte values, potentially leading to inaccurate diagnostic interpretation. Therefore, urine chemical examination should be performed within one hour after collection or stored at 2–8 °C to maintain result accuracy.
