Abstract

Currently, the instruction of Al-Qur'an Hadith in classes X at SMK PAB 1 Helvetia and SMK PAB 2 Helvetia lacks the utilization of diverse instructional media, resulting in decreased student motivation towards learning. The objective of this project is to create educational media for Android devices and assess the viability of this media for learning purposes. This study employs the ADDIE development paradigm, which consists of five stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The study was carried out at SMK PAB 1 Helvetia and SMK PAB 2 Helvetia, involving a total of 20 participants, from August to October 2022. The objective of the study was to assess the viability of the Android-based educational media that had been produced. The data gathering process encompassed many methods, including observation, questionnaires, validation, and testing. The data was subsequently subjected to analysis by converting the mean score into a percentage. The objective of the trial was to ascertain the students' reactions towards educational media. The findings indicated that the utilization of Android-based learning media for high school students in the context of fundamental geographic information system content was deemed highly valid. The media validation yielded a score of 80.5%, while the material validation yielded a score of 80.34%. The findings from the student response trials indicate a high level of interest among students in the learning medium employed, as evidenced by a practicality value of 82.5% in the small group and 83.5% in the big group

Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of ‘aqīqah in the multicultural community of Binjai City from the perspective of hadith, as well as to develop contextual hadith-based educational guides. This research uses a qualitative approach with a type of ethnography. The main data in the form of the practice of implementing ‘aqīqah is reviewed from the hadith. The data sources include religious leaders, educational leaders, and the community implementing ‘aqīqah who were selected purposively in five sub-districts of Binjai City. Data collection techniques are carried out through direct observation of ‘aqīqah activities, semi-structured interviews to explore the understanding of hadith, and documentation in the form of event archives, photos, and lecture scripts. Data analysis is carried out through three stages, namely data reduction to sort out relevant information, presentation of data in the form of thematic narratives, and inductive conclusion drawing to see the relationship between the understanding of hadith and the socio-religious practices of the community. The results of the study show that although the community understands ‘aqīqah as part of the teachings of the Prophet PBUH, the practice is greatly influenced by local culture and economic factors. Many processions are adapted, even mixed with non-sharia traditions. The conclusion of this study emphasizes the importance of adaptive hadith-based education and the preparation of guidelines for the implementation of ‘aqīqah in accordance with the context of modern society.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the role of Islamic multicultural education in addressing the growing challenges of intolerance and radicalism in Indonesia’s modern era. The study focuses on universal values such as tolerance, justice, and harmony, as emphasized in Islamic teachings. A descriptive qualitative approach was used, involving analysis of religious literature, educational policies, and practices in modern pesantren. The findings indicate that Islamic multicultural education grounded in the principles of tawhid and inclusiveness not only promotes respect for cultural, religious, and ethnic diversity, but is also effective in preventing social conflict. Pesantren that uphold the motto “above and for all groups” serve as concrete examples of these values in practice. This concept aligns with Qur’anic principles, such as QS. Al-Hujurat:13 and QS. Al-Anbiya:107, which highlight the importance of harmony and mutual understanding. The study concludes that Islam-based multicultural education holds significant potential to foster a harmonious, tolerant, and respectful society, making it highly relevant for addressing the challenges of diversity in the modern era. Its implementation can serve as a model for a national education system oriented towards inclusiveness and social justice.

Abstract

Abstract

The rapid pace of societal change demands that educators understand the foundation of true values. Kitab Adab Al-'Alim Wa Al-Muta'allim by KH. Hasyim Asy'ari is one such foundation that remains relevant to this day. This study aims to analyze the various ethical principles for students contained within Kitab Adab Al-'Alim Wa Al-Muta'allim and explore the implications of these concepts in the practice of contemporary Islamic education. As a monumental work, this book presents broad concepts with the potential to be applied across various levels of formal education, from primary school to higher education. This research employs a qualitative method with a library research approach, relying on content analysis of the primary text and supported by secondary literature. The findings reveal that Kitab Adab Al-'Alim Wa Al-Muta'allim emphasizes the importance of ethics in the pursuit of knowledge, the relationship between students and teachers, as well as ethics in learning, such as sincerity, respect for teachers, dedication to learning, and courtesy. Kitab Adab Al-'Alim Wa Al-Muta'allim can serve as a valuable reference for addressing contemporary issues in Islamic education, such as the tendency of education practitioners to become trapped in academic routines while neglecting the moral and character development of students.

Abstract

This study investigates the implementation of the School Literacy Movement (GLS) in two Islamic integrated elementary schools SDIT Madani and SDIT Rabbani in Aceh Tenggara, Indonesia. It aims to analyze the planning, execution, and contextual factors that support or hinder the sustainability of GLS in both institutions. Employing a qualitative multi-site case study design, data were collected through semi-structured interviews, participant observations, and document analysis. The findings reveal distinct literacy models: SDIT Madani incorporates literacy within tahfizh-based routines and promotes structured individual reading, while SDIT Rabbani adopts a thematic, community-centered literacy approach conducted in outdoor settings. Supporting factors include leadership commitment, teacher engagement, and stakeholder collaboration, whereas key barriers involve limited instructional time, insufficient resources, and lack of diverse reading materials. This study contributes to the discourse on localized literacy models in faith-based schools and recommends the development of school-based literacy forums, ongoing professional development for teachers, systematic parental engagement, and the integration of digital literacy tools to enhance program impact and sustainability.

Abstract

Education serves as the fundamental pillar in shaping children’s character and spirituality, with parents playing a central role in Islamic teachings. The Qur’an provides clear guidance on the importance of education grounded in monotheism (tauhid), morality, and knowledge, as reflected in Q.S. An-Nisa’ [4]: 9, Q.S. Luqman [31]: 13–19, and Q.S. At-Tahrim [66]: 6. This study aims to analyze the concept of parental responsibility in Islamic education based on these three verses and to explore their relevance in addressing contemporary challenges in family-based education. The research employs a qualitative method using library research and a thematic (maudhu’i) interpretation approach to extract both thematic and contextual meanings from the selected verses. The findings reveal that the Qur’an places parents as the primary and foremost educators, responsible for nurturing their children’s faith, morals, and life skills as provisions for both this world and the hereafter. In the modern context, this role faces serious challenges, including work-related busyness, secular cultural influences, and value disruption due to digital media. The study concludes that family-based education rooted in the Qur’an remains highly relevant and essential as a moral safeguard for children amid an era of rapid change. The implementation of Qur’anic education values centered on monotheism, moral guidance, and parental role modeling is key to forming a generation of Muslims who are faithful, intelligent, and morally upright.

Abstract

This study explores Islamic Religious Education (PAI) students’ perceptions of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in learning Islamic Education History, prompted by AI’s growing adoption for academic tasks like writing, discussions, and summarization. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected via in-depth interviews and observations of 2024 cohort PAI students at FITK, State Islamic University of North Sumatra. Findings indicate positive views of AI as a tool to streamline tasks and simplify material comprehension, though dependency emerged during time constraints or difficulty understanding sources. While cognitively beneficial, AI was perceived as inadequate for conveying the depth of Islamic historical and spiritual values. Students emphasized the need for lecturer guidance and institutional policies to ensure ethical, responsible use. The study concludes that AI is a valuable yet incomplete tool, requiring balance with comprehension and academic ethics to uphold Islamic education’s essence.
