Abstract

This study aims to describe the numeracy skills of students in the matter of fractional arithmetic. This research method is a type of combination research. The research subjects were 31 students of class VIIU1 SMP Muhammadiyah 4 Palembang, but three people were chosen as subjects to be interviewed. The data collection techniques in this study were questionnaires, tests, and interviews. The instrument in this study is the researcher and assisted by questionnaires, numeracy questions, and interview guidelines. The data analysis technique of this research is quantitative and qualitative with the stages of quantitative data analysis. The results showed that the response of students to blended learning was good. The numeracy ability of students after being given blended learning on fractional numbers is still low. This can be seen from the results of the written test which showed that there were only 2 students in the high category, 6 in the medium category, and 23 in the low category. Based on the results of written tests and interviews that have been analyzed based on indicators of numeracy skills, students are able to using various numbers or mathematical symbols related to basic mathematics and able to analyze information displayed in various forms (graphs, tables, charts, diagrams). This can be seen in students who are able to use mathematical concepts and procedures on fractional number material. Most of the students are not able interpret the results of the analysis to predict and make decisions, because students are not used to reinterpreting the results of calculations into the context of the problem

Abstract

Teachers need to improve students’ creative thinking skills by incorporating relevant everyday contexts. Soccer, as a familiar part of daily life, has not been widely used in education, and its impact on creative thinking requires further study. This research aimed to develop a contextual physics e-module centered on soccer to enhance creative thinking in physics learning. The study followed Rowntree's development model, including planning, development, and evaluation, with Tessmer’s formative evaluation through expert reviews, one-on-one assessments, small-group evaluations, and field tests. The creative thinking indicators used in the research are fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration. Data were collected from 346 high school students in Palembang via walkthroughs, questionnaires, and written tests, then analyzed using SPSS version 16. The results showed that the soccer-based physics e-module is valid (Sig. 0.00), practical (one-to-one: 82.75%; small group: 91.00%), and in the moderate category for improving creative thinking (N-gain: 0.59). These findings highlight the need to explore other everyday contexts and assess the long-term impact of the e-module across different educational settings.

Abstract

One of the important skills in the 21st century is Computational Thinking (CT) skills. In PISA 2021, computational thinking aspect is one of the aspects measured in the field of mathematical assessment. But in reality, the computational thinking skill of Indonesian students is yet relatively low. This is shown from the results of the PISA (Programme for International Student Assessment) test in 2022 that Indonesian students got a score 366 which is the score is still below the average PISA score of 472. The lowest score is especially in the field of mathematical literacy or numeracy because in the test conducted by PISA, the question framework made has an element of computational thinking. To overcome this, a learning tool is needed, namely Student Worksheet. Learning through student worksheet can support students' computational thinking skills. The type of research is development study with the aim of producing student worksheet of ratio topic that is valid and practical and can support CT skills. The problems contained in the student worksheet can be solved according to the stages of CT indicators so that students are more directed and can develop their CT skills. Grade VII students at a junior high school in Palembang are the subjects in this study. This research uses the ADDIE development model through five stages, namely: (1) Analyze; (2) Design; (3) Development; (4) Implementation; (5) Evaluation. Data was collected and analyzed quantitatively using a table of validity and practicality criteria. The results of this study were obtained from the conclusion that the student worksheet was valid based on the comments and suggestions of the validator with an average percentage of validity of 84.86%. The average practicality of the student worksheet was 79.13%, which showed that the student worksheet were included in the practical criteria. In addition, the student worksheet developed contain problems that students solve in accordance with the stages of the computational thinking skills indicator.
