KAP training is handled by 4 (four) trained health workers from the Ministry of Health for 6 hours/ day for 2 days. Paired t-test statistical test was used to see the significant changes in knowledge. Results: Based on the results of the analysis, there was a significant increase in both the total correct answers and knowledge scores at KAP training (p<0.000). Conclusions: The efficacy of KAP training showed that similar programs can be implemented with broader targets such as cadres, PKK, religion leaders, and society leaders.

Abstract

Background: Pregnant women who drink herbal medicine can increase the risk of meconium amniotic fluid, and meconium amniotic fluid is a risk factor for asphyxia in newborns. Objectives: Identify three forms of culture in drinking herbal medicine in pregnant women, namely the mother's values and ideas about drinking herbal medicine, herbal drinking activities, and material on the culture of drinking herbal medicine. Methods: This research is a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. Informants in this study consisted of pregnant women and key informants consisted of families of pregnant women, cadres, ustadzah, midwives, and herbal medicine providers. Results: The cultural forms of drinking herbal medicine include: 1) Values and Ideas. Drinking herbal medicine for pregnant women is still practiced because of their subjective norms and normative beliefs from the surrounding environment. All informants believed that herbal medicine could provide benefits rather than negative effects, and only midwives stated that herbal medicine had negative effects, namely meconium amniotic fluid, and even asphyxia. 2) The activity of drinking herbal medicine. Pregnant women drink herbal medicine from the beginning of pregnancy until delivery. The frequency of taking herbal medicine was various. Religious figures and community leaders have an important role in the culture of drinking herbal medicine. 3) Herbal ingredients. The herbs consumed by each informant were different, there were informants who consumed homemade herbs and bought them at the market. Conclusions: The culture of drinking herbal medicine is still carried out because the local community's belief about the benefits of herbal medicine is still high, and lack of public knowledge about the effects of drinking herbal medicine on pregnant women.

Abstract

Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM) is a health condition that increases during pregnancy and can lead to serious complications for both the mother and the fetus. Self-management, encompassing understanding, implementing, and maintaining health behaviors, is crucial in managing GDM. The Health Belief Model (HBM) is a theoretical framework that can serve as the basis for interventions to enhance self-efficacy in pregnant women with GDM. This study analyzes the relationship between self-efficacy and self-management in controlling gestational diabetes in pregnant women. It is a literature review using a literature search method. Literature searches were conducted through three databases: PubMed, Scopus, and Google Scholar, covering articles published between 2014 and 2024. The search utilized MeSH keywords such as "Gestational Diabetes Mellitus," "Self-Efficacy," and "Intervention Self-Management." The search yielded seven English articles that met the inclusion criteria. Analysis was conducted narratively, referring to the identified literature findings. Literature review findings indicate a positive correlation between the implementation of Health Belief Model-based self-management and the improvement of self-efficacy in pregnant women with gestational diabetes. Factors such as risk understanding, perception of benefits, and understanding of barriers are crucial in influencing self-efficacy levels. Applying the HBM contributes to enhancing the ability of pregnant women to engage in self-management. This intervention effectively boosts the confidence of pregnant women in managing dietary patterns, physical activity, and blood glucose monitoring, assisting them in coping with gestational diabetes.

Abstract

Background: Over time, adolescents in Indonesia are increasingly at risk of changing their lifestyles, as evidenced by the curiosity of adolescents for information that can cause the emergence of premarital sex behavior. This behavior is perilous, it may cause imminent harm, especially to adolescent girls. Based on data from the Palu City Health Office, there were 171 cases of adolescents who had premarital sex in 2018-2021. The results of the midwife interview found that five adolescents were pregnant before marriage within the Mamboro Health Center working area in 2022. Objectives: to explore predisposing factors (knowledge and attitude), supporting factors (media influence), and driving factors (influence of health workers, family and peers) in adolescent premarital sexual behavior. Method: a qualitative study with a case study design. There were 10 informants; 1 key informant, 6 main informants, and 3 supporting informants selected by purposive sampling techniques. Results: 4 out of 6 main informants had engaged in premarital sexual behavior, while 2 others admitted they had kissed. Conclusion: Regarding the predisposing factors, knowledge related to the definition, forms, factors, and the impact of premarital sex was clearly stated by adolescents. As for attitudes, adolescents had a positive attitude or abstinance towards premarital intercourse. It was found that in the supporting factors, media influenced the adolescents in form of pornographic photos and videos. As in the driving factors, health workers, family, and peers have the influence related to information, communication, and motivation among adolescents. However, adolescents prefer to tell reproductive problems to their friends.
