Abstract

This article analyzes the impact of neoliberal policies on social welfare in developing countries, focusing on the implementation of free market principles, privatization, deregulation, and a reduced role of the state in the economy. While these policies aim to improve economic efficiency and growth, this research finds that neoliberal implementation in developing countries often exacerbates social inequality and reduces the poor's access to basic services such as health, education and social protection. The research identifies negative impacts such as public sector privatization that increases costs for low-income earners, deregulation that makes workers more vulnerable to exploitation, and social budget cuts that reduce the quality of services for marginalized groups. Although some countries experienced economic growth as a result of these policies, the unequal distribution of economic benefits led to increased social inequality. This article suggests the need for more inclusive and sustainable economic policies that can mitigate the negative impacts of neoliberalism, as well as strengthen social security and access to basic services in developing countries.

Abstract

The biodiversity of medicinal plants in Indonesia reflects the potential to be used to treat non-communicable diseases such as cancer. Gastritis is a kind of symptom felt in the stomach that may trigger severe abnormalities leading to a state of cancer. This study aims to determine the potential of bioactive compounds derived from the ethanol extract of butterfly pea petals (Clitoria ternatea L.) as an in-silico anti-gastritis drug candidate. This study was a descriptive study with a qualitative approach. The molecular docking method applied specific docking using PLANTS software. The results of molecular docking indicated that there might be a similar potential as the control drug in inhibiting the gastric proton pump. Based on the analysis of the LCHRMS results, flavonoid compounds in the extract of butterfly pea petals were found to be used for docking analysis. Each flavonoid compound and the docking score from highest to lowest were Rutin (-87.05), Quercetin-3β-D-glucoside (-79.30), Quercetin (-79.28), Kaempferol (-74.80), Trifolin (-74.22), Genistein (-69.70), Kaempferol-3-glucoside-3''rhamnoside (-67.79), Biochanin A(1−) (-67.64), and Mauritianin (-58.26). The flavonoid compound named Rutin had the highest docking score above the two control drugs of Omeprazole (-66.27) and Vonoprazan (-84.45). It can be concluded that based on the in-silico study, the flavonoid compound of Rutin in the ethanol extract of butterfly pea petals (Clitoria ternatea L.) had the potential to inhibit the gastric proton pump to prevent gastritis. The chemical structure of Rutin differs from the two control drugs because it has a more complex structure consisting of five benzene rings. Further dynamic molecular tests are recommended to find out which flavonoid compounds have the most stable affinity for the target protein. Based on the in-silico test, in vivo and in vitro studies should be performed to find out more information about the potential of the flavonoid compounds in butterfly pea extract to inhibit the action of the gastric proton pump.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the composition of butterflies (Lepidoptera), analyze indices of diversity, evenness, richness, dominance and their conservation status. This research uses exploration techniques by observing and exploring 5 research stations at the research location. Sampling was carried out in March - April 2023at 07.00-12.00 WIB with 3 repetitions. Based on the results of research, butterflies that found in Coban Watu Ondo area were 21 species. Diversity index (H') 2.24 (Medium), means that the condition of the environment and ecosystem is quite good. Evenness index (E) 0.84 (High), means that the number of individuals of each species present is relatively equal and evenly distributed. Richness index (R) 3.06 (Medium), corresponds to the diversity index. Dominance index (D) 0.15 (Low), means that no species dominates. Conservation status based on IUCN shows that there are 17 species classified as not evaluated, 2 species classified as near threatened and 2 species classified as least concern.

Abstract

Abstract

This study focuses on the innovation of converting abandoned land into organic waste disposal sites (OPC) as an eco-friendly solution to combat environmental degradation and promote sustainable urban agriculture in Simoketawang. The study found that most abandoned land is poorly managed, resulting in negative environmental impacts. The study conducted workshops with Family Welfare Movement (PKK) stakeholders, including planning, material procurement, and practical implementation of the POC. The process involved re-enriching organic waste with fresh water and air, resulting in significant improvements in community knowledge and skills. The research results show that the implementation of POC can significantly reduce environmental degradation by 70% and improve community welfare by 95% or 50,000 per month. The activity also highlights the importance of environmental protection, soil nutrition, and social learning in urban agriculture practices. However, the community service also highlights the need for ongoing training, which requires collaboration with local governments to implement the program. This activity contributes significantly to assessing community skills and transforming abandoned land into a model for sustainable urban agriculture.
